The first book was amazing. This one, not so much. It's not bad and it had its great moments but I found the second part too repetitive for my taste. The constant failed ambushes quickly grew tiresome. The start was also a bit jarring as there was a time jump from the previous book to this one. And honesty I think if we had seen some of Alkaios' struggles with godhood and how Zeus finally accepted his defeat over Hades, well that would have made for a better second installment. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Old Ones' connection to Hades and learning more about the Underworlds origin. I just could have done with less of the accompanying senseless fights. And I really would have liked to see the immediate aftermath of Hades transferring her powers to Alkaios. Pitchfork was not a bad book and I'm glad I read it but would probably never re-read it while I would definitely re-read Pomegranate.

I loved how Alkaios embraced his own power and position in this book, how the gods united, and how plot and backstories were twisted to include myths and legends we Greek mythology lovers have all heard of and been spellbound by for centuries now.
If you're a lover of Greek mythology, unexpected twists, and bloody battles of epic proportion then this book will have you unable to set it down…trust me, I know! ;-) I absolutely loved this book!

Hades is back and more powerful than ever. It's time to buckle up and prepare for a tense, fast-paced story of love, loyalty and intrigue in the midst of carnage and destruction.
This is definitely not your standard mythological tale. It goes far beyond what I know on the topic.
Kudos to the author for her imaginative style.

Wow, this was so bloody good - pun intended. Hades returns in this story to discover a grim secret about who she really is and this leads to an unleashing of an ancient power and monsters that the gods of Olympus are not prepared for…
I loved this book. It was full of intense action - gods vs. monsters, carnage, lots of blood (too much honestly but I dealt with it lol), and battles! I loved that all the gods had major roles to play in this book; seeing them all battle it out together was so badass. This all made me stressed though, so many characters came close to dying multiple times that I was zooming through to see what would happen next! I was not disappointed. The ending was very ambiguous, so I am very intrigued what happens with Hades and Alkaios in the next book, ‘Pandora’. If you love Greek Mythology and a fast book full of ‘Wrath of the Titans’-esque action, this series is for you! ⚔️🖤🏺

Queen Hades is back!
I loved Pomegranate, a story which took one of my favorite Greek myths and reimagined it. Hades, Ruler of the Underworld, is a badass goddess - yes! A woman, exiled by her former lover, who becomes a legend. See the Underworld and its denizens close up, fall in love with the drama and grandeur of Greek mythology all over again.

In Pitchfork, the battle with Olympus is done. Hades and Alkaios adjust to their new roles and shared rule in their Underworld realm. That's enough to deal with, right? But fate adds more...a chilling plot unfolds as the Oracle of Delphi has one whopper of a vision. Something worse than Hell or Death is coming for them all. But after the upheavals and battles of the previous book, will the Olympians work with Hades and Alkaios? Prepare for a Clash that dwarfs any conflict from the ancient world, a true nightmare come to life.
This is a bigger story with heightened stakes. More characters from classic Greek myth are introduced, both friend and foe (some in-between). Intense battles and terrifying monsters will haunt you long after the tale is done. Seriously, there's a few scenes that were straight from a horror novel ( which I LOVED!).
Brace yourselves - Scarano creates a vivid world with complex characters, familiar to an extent but ultimately unique. This series is a must-read for fans of Greek mythology, including retellings similar to Madeleine Miller's Circe. An awesome ride and I can't wait for the next tale!

I freaking loved PITCHFORK so much.
Nicole Scarano wove a fantastic tale upon the Hades and Persephone myth that only enhanced both the first book and myth itself. I loved the direction she took and the writing was very well done. There were moments my heart was racing and others where it stopped dead and I truly feared for these characters. To make a reader feel the emotional rollercoaster that I did is a great accomplishment. I’m so excited for what Nicole has next.

A worthy sequel to Nicole Scarano’s thrilling debut novel Pomegranate.
Pitchfork is a fast-paced, action-packed tale about a mysterious prophecy, dark origins, and even darker destinies.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I won’t say too much in this review because it’s best you experience Hades’ journey for yourself.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was Hades’ found family. All of the friends Hades made in Pomegranate stick by her side and support her through the trials she faces in Pitchfork. It was comforting to know Hades could always depend on her loyal companions to help her face the challenges that laid ahead.
Unsurprisingly, Alkaios was also one of my favorite aspects of this book. He’s a great character and love interest. I enjoyed watching him grow into his power and become a god and king in his own right. Hades and Alkaios have great chemistry and it’s easy to root for them as a couple because of how supportive they are of one another.
If you enjoy non-stop action, epic battles, and unique takes on Greek mythology, I recommend picking this book up as soon as possible.

Pure chaos. Unrelenting carnage, hopelessness & desolation. I’m not even joking you, we as readers spend 82% of this book having our every last hope of an HEA crushed between the author’s fingers.
This was a constant volley between all hope being lost & some random character you had forgotten about amongst all the unrelenting chaos being like “SURPRISE B!TCHES I HAVE COME TO SAVE THE DAY” (the day is not, in fact, saved).
I have learned over the past few years that I have a burning pit of anger deep in my soul (I’m medicated, it’s fine, everything is under control….ish). This book feels like a love letter to that fury.
Lady Hades is the personification of all the feelings I have stowed away in my heart that society frowns upon as a functioning human being. Seeing her bring destruction, ruin& just fvcking OWNING EVERY SINGLE CREATURE IN HER PATH brings forth this cathartic feeling of triumph.
I just love the way Nicole put such a unique twist on the titanomachy. Cause like, it’s Greek myth. Just about every iteration of the gods vs the titans exists. But Nicole said, “hold my bident” & busted out the DEEP tracks.

In a word: Epic
I enjoyed Pomegranate so much, and I wondered if there was more story to tell. I was so wrong. The author took characters to new depths and created a whole new world
That I never could have imagined. I read the book in record time, hardly able to pause, even stealing a chapter or two in the middle of the night. The author has such a talent for words. Her vocabulary has a way of pulling the reader in and building the world in surround sound. I had to pause to catch my breath it felt so real. Throughly spellbinding. I also love the way she retells parts of mythology in such a relatable manner. I learned new things but then it also caught me by surprise what she did with certain characters. I wish I could say more, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Everyone needs to read this and then we can all talk about it freely! I highly recommend not only this book, but this author as well.

Where to begin...The highly anticipated sequel to Pomegranate was everything I hope for and MORE!
The story picks up a few years after book one and jumps right into all things Hades and Alkaios.
Once again, the author, Nicole Scarano, has created a world we have all heard stories about, but she makes it new and exciting and so much more than you've ever known before.
Pitchfork had my attention from the beginning, and I found it very hard to put down as the action, suspense, and my need to know to keep me reading long into the night.
While this book is different from the first, I feel it followed a very natural progression for the story as well as showcasing the incredible talent Ms. Scarano has for world creating. She seamlessly weaves characters we've met with new myths and legends in a way I know must have taken months to develop.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series as well as her next standalone apart from this series.

I was not ready
This book was an adventure and a half. If you think that Nicole can’t take it to the next level, you’re wrong. This book has everything. Love, life and of course, a little bit of hell. 😉
Hades takes us on a new course while trying to deal with the effects of the last book, and as always, nothing goes right.
Normally, I know where a book is going, but the turns and twists that are added kept me on my toes and drawn in. The Greek mythology is amazing and her twists to it are perfect.
Just read it.

I'm quite enjoying this gender-bent series, and really liked bringing in mythical monsters for the Old Gods that are the antagonists for this book. A bit of found family, the FMC with badass powers that overpower even Zeus, and quite a few excellent revelation moments.
I did feel like the second half of the book had maybe one too many battles that felt very samey-samey, and while I didn't mind the humanizing of the Gods of the book (lots of descriptions of illness, injuries, experiences of pain), it did feel like it took away from the fact these are still the Greek Gods, which is why this isn't higher rated.
Would still recommend if you enjoy any Hades and Persephone retelling, because this woman is powerful and I'm here for it!

Could not wait for this follow up Part II of the Pomegranate Series. After readying Part I, Pomegranate, I was interested where the story could go from there and I was very pleasantly surprised and completely enjoyed this follow up. A very inventive take of the origins and developments of the Greek and Roman Gods. I am hoping there will be follow-up and Part III to this series. I highly recommend this book!

I found every book Nicole Scarano has written about Greek Mythology as utterly fantastic. As she accounts the fighting between Gods, her explanation is just like the words are written in music🎵.
I enjoyed this book and I never thought I could fall in love with a 3 headed Hell Hound. Nicole's writing has awoken all my feelings. As the battle surged so did my heart💜.

Hades is in for fight
There is a beauty in the brutality of this series. I’m continually blown away by how amazing this series is. So many things are happening and every time you think you’ve met the characters and know exactly what they’re going to do something changes and the courses verse off from the expected. I’m just about to start the third book in the series and I’m so excited! More Hades!!!

This was a fantastic follow-up to the Hades story that began in Pomegranate. There are some creative reveals, some romance, some new characters, some action, and all thrown together to keep the reader on the “edge of their seat.” I do love the character of Hades, and I love the fierce devotion of those who love her in this book. I was never bored for a moment. I highly recommend!

Oh my goodness! This was such an incredible sequel! From the moment I started reading it, I NEEDED to know more, and that feeling never went away. This book truly shook me to my core. I felt happiness, I felt hopeless, I felt camaraderie and I felt the treachery. It was so good! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. 5/5 for me.

Filing this under DNF- Did not finish. I wanted it to be good, I wanted it to be better than book 1, but it honestly just bored me. I don't like books where the main characters have no agency and there is zero characterization. I want to be able to connect with the characters and understand who they are, but that just wasn't possible in this book.

This was an absolutely amazing second installment in my opinion.
The only thing that really irked me was authors use of “cracking”. Honestly. It felt like I couldn’t go 2 pages without something cracking or being cracked.
Beyond that, loved every cracking second of it.

Okay I will admit. This one took me a bit longer to finish. I lost interest a bit about half way through but oh. My. Gosh. It’s worth finishing!! Some points absolutely ripped my heart to shreds and I cried like a baby.

Love this version of Hades

Found it hard
I enjoyed it at the beginning then found it so hard to stick with it in the middle. It has taken me ages to drag myself through it. The last chapters I enjoyed but such a shame I didnt enjoy the middle part of the book

What a ride
