After the passing of her granny and with her sister in prison, the weight of the world seems to be fitting uncomfortably on Honesty Barret’s shoulders. Now her only living situation in Parkway Gardens appears to be in jeopardy as her aunt and her pimp bombard their way into her granny’s home. With aspirations of moving out of the Gardens and creating a better life for herself by doing hair, unbeknownst to Honesty, her dreams are about to become a reality but not in the way that she expects.
When one of her best friends calls for an emergency hair appointment, Honesty has no problem going to her rescue but will she end up being the one who is saved? As life starts flipping and twisting in unconceivable ways for her, join Honesty on this dubious journey as she realizes how the realest things can end up being just an illusion.
Whew!! There’s soooo much to unpack here!! Honestly & Wizdom were funny asf! Royalty & Hasain shocked me! I wasn’t expecting their situation to play out the way it did! So many lies, secrets & betrayal! My mouth was on the floor! Honor really took me for a ride! I was not prepared for the secrets she was holding & the truth behind why she ended up in jail! So many unexpected twist & turns! This was a good read!
I really tried to get into this story but ... something was off... the pace at the beginning was dry and the chemistry of the 2 main characters didn't hit, to me. Then the layers of out of nowhere secrets, lies, and babies...it didn't ever fully develop for me. I am usually a fan of this author
Wiz is such a mess. Just as unhinged as he wants to be. I love a story with good humor and this book did not lack that. IMO some parts of the story moved too fast.
That was so good. Wiz and Honesty are so good for one another. I like how Alana and klarity found their other sister. Klarity is still with that. Im glad Honor was released and reunited with her daughter. I also understand why she didn't tell Honesty about her daughter cause look what she did to the aunt and boyfriend. How was she going to take care of her. Rocky was a real one. Hassin and Royalty got what they deserved. I hate Rich didn't get to clear his name. Scott was delusional at its best. Tira was just a crash dummy. But it was a great read, and I can't wait til your next project.
Wizdom was unhinged from introduction lol. Talking about his table of instruments. Here I am thinking he’s a a musician but he’s really a murderer. Am I mad? Not at all. A lot was going on but I was thoroughly entertained. Wizdom and Rocky had no sense lol. Grumpy sunshine, found family, jealous ex, betrayal, and unhinged behavior with a comedic touch. I do wish the epilogue was long but there is a happy ending. Recommend.
Get ready for some major spoilers! This book had me hooked from start to finish. Can you believe Hassin and Royalty were setting up Rich and Honor? And Hassin was abusive toward Royalty. Then, Royalty and Tira went ahead and kidnapped Honesty! To add to the drama, Honor has a child and the father is Rich. There's also Scott, who pretends to be Tira's boyfriend while threatening her brother's life. Scott is bent on revenge because his wife fell for Wizdom, who was actually Wizdom's first love. Wizdom believed she had died of an overdose, but it turns out Scott murdered her.
My mind was blown when I found out that Royal, Wizdom's cousin, was pen pals with Honor (under a different name, of course) and ended up having Hassin killed, which got Honor out of jail. Then there's Erica claiming Wizdom is her baby's father, throwing Wizdom into a mess he can't even admit to Honesty, straining their trust. Oh, and surprise! Honesty discovers she has sisters on her dad's side who have been trying to find her. Yet, just as they get close, she goes missing after killing her aunt and her aunt's boyfriend. The boyfriend tried to assault her, and her aunt was going to allow it. She used Wizdom’s gun, which gets him locked up for a bit.
In another twist, Royalty dies taking a bullet meant for Honesty, and I’m left wondering about her son’s fate. This story was such an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm thrilled everyone got their happy ending.

This was first read by the author. I didn’t love this book in particular but it was decent. The timeline was a bit crazy. Would’ve liked to have stretched it out some. Or even had the full backstory before everything. Tira never really got her karma. Royalty’s son and her relationship was barely talked about. I feel like everyone was being just plain dumb by not peeping Scott. How is it when something happens he’s magically around? That was kinda common sense. Even the last scene with him, why would Honesty drop her weapon? Why wasn’t there more of a back story on Rich and Honor? What was the point in her meeting her sisters just to not get the back story on the dad? Idk. It was okay though.
I fking loved it!!!! This book was awesome. I loved Wizdom and Rocky, they didn't have a lick of sense. Wizdom didn't play with nobody when it came to Honesty. Honestly was such a good friend but her friends didn't know the definition of loyalty. Ion think Tira should have been spared. Rocky had Honor's back, front, side and middle and all he asked for in return was loyalty. It was a surprise to find out that Alana and Honesty were long lost sisters. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Talehia.💝💝
This book was a good read but it was a bit rushed and all over. There was A lot of envy and hatred along with jealousy and lies between these so called frienda. Honesty was a bit nieve but she had hee head set on her goals. She trusted Wiz to jump and be with him that quick she should worked harder to understand and work on healing her marriageshe knew that man wasnt letting her leave him.I knew Tiera was jealous snack. I liked Rocky he kept me lol. Honor and Rocky need more details I hope they last. The crew needs a spinoff soo many unanswered questions.
I believe this is the 1st time I have read Talehia. The laugh out loud moments were too funny. Especially not being "fat...as hell" versus just being fat 😂. Or Wiz singing in the Church choir 🙌🏾 to encourage Honesty to change her mind. Anddddd, "you leaving before communion 🤣🙌🏾🤣.
Okay, now the twists and turns will have you in a full circle. Because it actually did go full circle with the secrets. It still had street moments as well. So, this book incorporated so much in such a short read. I hate it was over.
The book was so good until about 83%. I’ll start with the good, it’s short sweet and to the point. If you don’t like instant love then don’t read this. Now, I don’t know what happened but the writing got sloppy and names between characters started being mixed up. The ending was horrible I mean just plain bad even the conflict with Honesty and Wiz felt super forced. I started with loving the book and ending with felling like the author didn’t give the story its best ending.
This book is full of twists and turns. The author has a great imagination, and the situations that occurred were sure enough on point. But, her writing didn't flow. All the situations ran together, and therefore, you were freaking confused as heck! If she would get a decent editor or read her books once finished, Ms Talehia would be truly the baddest urban fiction writer, ever!
The 5 stars is for her great ideas and imagination, I loved it. But the editing gives her a straight 2 stars.
Listen...Wiz is too many things, He is hood and Boss, but he is also lovable and funny as hell.
It was love at first sight for him and Honesty. He dismissed everyone when they told him to stay away. Given the chance to drive her home was the opening that he nodded. From that day, she became his.
This story has a lot of twists and turns, love and betrayal, and the right amount of comic relief. Well-written and great characters.
I wanted to like this book..it was the grammatical errors and the mistakes for me. With that said I liked Wiz character, he wanted to love Honesty and give her the soft life and I am glad he did. She was dealt a challenging hand. I also liked that she had a plan in place to make it without him, she had a plan before him, and during him.
Again, would have enjoyed the book more if I didn’t have to maneuver all the grammatical errors!
This was good read but what gets me is she giving him the blues for keeping something from her not being truthful once he didn’t cheat but making him climb mountains with no rope🤨but forgave them soon as they said they lil speech even though he was going to kill her 🫤..seeing the type of person her husband was he could’ve easily helped the brother and she should’ve just asked about the sister.. you really think she’s playing fake friend that long
It really took for this man to come and get literally fall in love with Honesty for everybody skeletons to fall out of the closet I knew it was something with her so called best friend when they finally met back up and saw one another again I definitely wasn't expecting that from royalty at all never let no man come between you and your homegirls especially when they stay out the way and mind their business
Honesty did her best to live up to her name but it was her circle that made her challenge it. Her world upgraded in a major way after meeting Wiz. I like Honesty because she handles her business and stand firm on her decisions. It is a lot of drama and the plot twist and turn like a good story supposed to. I enjoyed this one and recommend it.
This wad a great read. It had so many plot twists and turns. Baby secrets just kept coming out the closet nonstop. I love wiz for her I'm glad she got her sister back and gained two others in the end. Wiz and Rocky are so real ones. Honesty went from being shy to a wife of a real one
This book was so cute I loved it. Royalty and Tira were some snake ass bi*ches but I will say royalty redeemed herself jumping in front that bullet. That nigga Hassin was corny AF and glad Honor found her a good man in Rocky. That man Scott was delusional AF like my god glad they took his ass out. I’m glad Honesty and Honor got their HEA.
This was az cool read, but a bit confusing. It seemed to have a lot going on, but I'm glad it was all explained at the end. I hate Honor didn't realize Hassan didn't set her up and Royalty knew where his heart was although he married her. What happened with Tira and her family? What happened to Royalty son? This was cool, but this author has done better.
I loved this book from start to finish. Wizdom did not play about his family. I just loved Rocky crazy self. I'm going to need him and his old lady to have a book. Royalty got what she had coming. She thought she got away. Her supposed to be best friend got off too easy. I would never forgive her.
Overall, the book was good. I would have loved to give this five stars, but it lacked details and it jumped from one scene to the next then skipped things. if you went back and use this as an outline and added details and made it longer, this would be an awesome book.
It was good in the beginning but it started to annoy me. Wiz was just rude for no reason. I don’t care how much money u have it’s no need to treat people that way. Mimi annoyed me too she just let him have his way with her since the day she met him. I Don’t want to spoil it but yeah no one is doing that. I just couldn’t finish the book.
Men know who their eternity is the moment they see and meet her. Talehia showed Wiz heart the moment he saw Honesty and the level of pressure he went through to for forgiveness aside from fighting for his wife.
I love everything about this author pen game. Plots, betrayal, loyalty, unhinged, family, and BDE. ALOT OF CHARACTERS IN. THSI BOOK AND IT WAS EASY TO KEEP UP. You want be disappointed and i loved forward to many more of your books.
I loved everything about this book!!!…Crazy how ppl will play in your face and truly don’t know you but create a false image of you in their mind!!!… I was so happy that Honor and Honesty was reunited!!!…
The storyline actually had potential, it was just not executed correctly at all. Very amateurish, it was rushed with things just happening and no build up, the grammar mistakes and mixing up of names took it over the edge for me. It's a no for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5|🌶️🌶️🌶️ I really like the story plot and how the events transpired. It was short but still provided a lot of details that I enjoyed. It did move fast but that’s expected from a short story. I would recommend! 💖
