After a few awful dates, Ruth Bevan has sworn off men. She’s a pragmatist. A problem solver. A lawyer. A cougar? It’s not a word she’d ever think of to describe herself—but then again, she hasn’t met Everett Tanner yet. Everett lives to ranch and ranches to live, but while he’s busy putting the family business first, he’s not giving himself time to process his emotions after a great loss.
A few chance meetings in airport lounges puts Everett firmly on Ruth’s radar (and in her fantasies). A couple of exchanged phone numbers and transatlantic FaceTime calls puts him firmly in her heart. The only problem is, Ruth’s heart is already torn, because the law career she’s always wanted is becoming something she dreads, and the fear is beginning to cost her friendships.
When his small town becomes a ghost town, and Ruth begins to unravel, Everett has to step up. No more waiting out the storm: the cowboy is saving the town and the girl.
This is book 3 in the Love At First Flight series. It can be read as a standalone but it is recommended that you read books 1 & 2 first. This book contains explicit language & sexually explicit descriptions throughout and is not recommended for younger readers.
S Sidney has been writing and telling stories since the age of six. Between writing books and singing smash hit songs such as “who’s the cutest boy in the world” to her cat, she works as cabin crew. She lives in the countryside with her husband and the best cat in the world, and if she’s not doing any of the above, she’s probably eating avocado toast whilst staring at her Kindle screen.
Thank you to the S. Sidney and Love Notes PR for the ARC of this book!
Having read the first two books in this interconnected story, The Best Bad Decision (Amie), and The Way We Fell (Katy), I was so excited to read about Ruth’s turn to find love in The Sun Will Rise, and when the author shared that it was a COWBOY romance?! Say mf lesssss! 😍
This book was, just like the others before it, SO SWEET. There’s such a grounded reality in the stories and the personalities of the girl gang and their loves. Ruth, the FMC in this installment, was so relatable to me and I felt seen throughout as she struggled with the pressure to live up to the weight of expectations -her own for herself, and those she perceived to be coming from her framily. I found myself sufficiently chagrined or saying I KNOW RIGHT more than once, especially since I also work in corporate law (as a librarian though, thank god).
And precious bb Everett…don’t even GET ME STARTED. I wanted the cinnamon roll but also filthy bedroom cowboy Sidney promised and she signed, sealed, DELIVERED. He called Roo “baby girl” and “honey” and “my wife” like a cattle brand and I was here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 it 👏🏻!!! We love a dude that is down bad and “Cowboy Daddy” (as the girl gang knows him) is all the way in the center of the earth for his brilliant London lady.
The banter was cute, the story was real and succinct and cleverly arranged, and the smut was smuttin’ (iykyk). I am so stoked to read the fourth and final book in this little quad of love stories and learn about Paloma’s happily ever after! 🩷
i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of The Sun Will Rise by S. Sidney from LoveNotesPR, thank you so much!! 🧡
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️/5
content warning: explicit language and sexual detail throughout, discusses themes including grief (of relatives, and of the life you thought you'd live), infertility, and mental health struggles, references to heavy drinking and mild violence.
“i can’t see his face, but i can imagine his exact expression—that one of wonder, where he looks at me like he’s never seen something quite like me before. where his eyes sparkle with awe.”
this is the second book i’ve read by sammie, the third in her love at first flight series, and i devoured it!! i didn’t realize the second book in this series came out (will 100% be going back and reading it asap!) but this can be read as a standalone!! sammie does such an amazing job of writing such beautiful stories that really allow you to connect with the characters. i know i said this in my review of the first book but i just absolutely adore the friend group!! they’re all so supportive of each other and just absolutely hilarious!
ruth and everett’s relationship was everything! the way they immediately fall for each other and just knew they were meant for each other was so special. they both just fit seamlessly in each other’s life! all because they both were at the right place at the right time.
i can’t wait to read the next book in this series and once again thank you so much to lovenotespr and s. sidney for providing me with this arc 🧡
Huge thank you to @ssidneywritesbooks & @lovenotes.pr for the ARC.
God I just loved this so much. Roo & Ev are genuinely in my heart, their meet-cute at the airport got me straight away and I just need to keep reading - I read this so quickly because their chemistry had me completely and totally hooked.
Long distance is never easy, been there, done that but not with an entire ocean between us and a time difference but they made it work! I love how excited Ev got for their FaceTimes and little dinner dates!
As always I love the girl group dynamic of the girly pops in this, makes me wanna be a part of it! I think Roo is my favourite of the girls and not just because she’s a huge swiftie (maybe a little)😂
Tropes to expect 🤠 Cowboy x Lawyer 🏡 Small Town x City Girl 💖 Instalove 🕰️ She’s Older 🛣️ Long Distance 😱 Existential Crisis 🧡 Found Family

This is book 3 in the love at first flight series. It can be read as a standalone.
Ruth - is a lawyer, whilst sitting at the airport she meets Everett, fate has a strange way of bringing two people together, not thinking She'd ever see him again, but she meets him at the airport for a second time. They exchange numbers and talk a lot. Will Ruth get her happy ever after?
Everett - spends his time on the ranch unless he's visiting his sister, fate has a weird way of bringing people together, while at the airport Ev meets Ruth twice at the airport, after exchanging numbers they speak regularly. Can Ev get his happy ever after?
This is a beautifully written romance novel, I love how this author wrote this fated romance novel.
You find yourself loving these two characters and rooting for them from the start.
We follow the beginning of a soulmate love story, between two people long distance, they talk daily to get to know each other, feelings start to develop and they knew they were ment to be!
This book got me hook line and sinker, I absolutely ate this book up!!
This isn't the first novel of this authors I've read, and I can honestly say it will not be the last.
ARC READ - I loved this book. For me it was the perfect happy, warm read and I was hooked from page 1, I couldn't put it down.
This book is full of love, beautiful friendships, a sexy cowboy mmc with a filthy mouth and a relatable FMC who holds her own that we can get behind. As with all of S.Sidneys books the dynamics between all the characters make me smile and give me all the feels. He books really make you feel like you're part of a very special friendship group and you can't help falling for each and every one of the characters and becoming invested in their lives.
READ ALL OF S SIDNEYS BOOKS, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
Oooii I struggled with this one. I must preface, maybe Im being a lil harsh since I didn't read books 1 & 2 and I do feel like there's some missing context in those that translate to this book. I recv'd this as an ARC, so I went in blind (which I tend to prefer since it gives me a more honest opinion not knowing the story). This book had a lot of things I love: 🧡Hottie MMC Cowboy- whose dirty in all the right ways 🧡Small town romance 🧡Age gap (slight- their gaps only a 5yr difference) but then it fizzled out hard for me... [image error] I can get on board with a lil airport meet cute, but the introduction of the characters felt disconnected. We knew he was a cute southern boy, but Ruth we knew nothing about- again maybe because I didn't read books 1 & 2 the author assumed we knew she was a Brit living in London?? Maybe she thought she was creating some intrigue or mystery about Ruth? Well it just felt random... like here's 2 beautiful ppl meeting at a bar *WHAM* instant heat & attraction, then go their separate ways. When a few wks later the universe puts them back together. From then on its a whirlwind of intercontinental romance filled with face time & phone call dates, which leads to the big I LOVE YOU's in a span of 6wks. AGAIN I can get behind the fast falling bit- when YKYK right? But where this book started to lose me was when Ruth starts spiraling & her insecurities rise. Its not so much the fact she has issues-I actually like that realistic representation- but my issue is with how its written. It just felt really all over the place & disjointed, again she's "spiraling" so I kinda get it. But the whole back n forth dialogue just felt too long, & the weirdest part for me was her odd passiveness with her brother Jay. The way she talks about "not sharing" him or "he's always been mine" was just strange. Like okay we get you're trying to be a good sister & protect his heart n all, but.... the obsessive nature with how she reacts is just weird. And yeah her best friend & brother hooking up in secret is not cool & if that was me I'd be pissed too. But at least she has an epiphany right? There was no lack of spice so if you want some hot & steamy cowboy action your in the right place. Everett & Ruth's whole relationship just doesn't feel authentic & I struggled to connect. I wanted more depth I guess, i.e, I wish there had been more on Ruth's infertility issues but it was quick 1 pager that kinda got glossed over. TBH I just got 🥱 boreedddd & kept check to see how many pages I had left. At the end of the day I just don’t this book was for me & the biggest issue was how it’s written. Sad day cause even having spicy scenes didn’t make me feel like it helped.
Before I even started this book the above quote was the first piece of the book I read. It meant a lot to me as I have felt that way many times in my life. So just starting this book hit me in the feels.
Ruth and Everett's story was both beautifully written and meaningful. You don't really know how a person feels or what they are going through when they haven't opened up about it, causing them to seem cold hearted and mean. So being able to follow Ruth's story and understand why she is the way she is, starts making sense on the way she acts in previous books. Everett's story was really sweet and seeing him struggle through life unsure what was missing from it, related to me a little too. It's crazy how two different people can relate to so much through shared experiences.
Of course we can't forget the amazing girls (Amie, Kate & Paloma), Maisy (and Roger), Cam and Jay. The book would be lost without this amazing group and their hilarious banter and support system. I did enjoy the fact that this book worked alongside The Way We Fell book as now we got both sides of the story and how all characters felt. I just love how this group is like one big family. They all know what to do in situations and always have each others back...or they just want to sit and gossip.
I love the location that this book is set in. It sounded peaceful and a great place that even I would want to go to and relax. The Tanners ranch and Everett's family and friends were so welcoming to Ruth accepting her as one of the family straight away...even the horses were accepting her.
Now the sexy scenes...they were hot! I mean I don't blame Ruth to be honest...I would even want to ride that cowboy xD. Even though they were hot and sexy, they were really sweet too considering how Ruth felt and how Everett just wanted to make her happy. I mean who wouldn't want to watch a hot cowboy take off his shirt in the boiling Texas heat?
But setting aside everything...It was really nice seeing Ruth grow as a person. Seeing so much change in her life and watching her happiness grow. It was inspiring to watch someone like Ruth fight for what she wanted for herself and not others no matter how scared she was. She pushed through all her thoughts and followed her heart on what she wanted more, and having the support from her friends and family helped her achieve her dream.
It just proves that no one really know what's going to happen in their lives, what journey they may have to take to see the sun rise in their new look on life.
The Sun will Rise is book 3 in the interconnected series called Love at First Flight. This ARC is written by S. Sidney and was sent to me by Love Notes PR. I did read the previous books in this series prior to reading this one, and I highly recommend that, but it is not necessary. The series as a whole is very good. I will be reading the next book in the series when it is released.
In the author’s note it was expressed that this book was more personal than the others. I really wanted to connect with this story even more when I read that at the beginning. I had a hard time connecting with Ruth in The Way We Fell and the same rolled into this book. I am happy that Roo got herself straight and was happy at the end of the story, but I could not relate to her as much as the previous characters. No one is perfect. She is human and that was a quality that she showed many times. That aspect makes Ruth relatable.
Everett was the shining star in this book. He was always a steady presence throughout the story. His devotion to Ruth from the very first day was crystal clear to the reader. He knew what he wanted, and he went for it. There were a lot of logistics for this transatlantic relationship. I do believe that Ruth and Everett handled everything thrown at them pretty well. As the book was coming to an end I felt like there were a lot of things not addressed yet and I was worried how the storyline might end. I wholeheartedly believe there were conversations that needed to happen before any big decisions were made. Those topics were FINALLY addressed, and the story came to an end with no loose ends.
I cannot end this review without discussing the bonds between all of the women in this series. The friendships developed between these women are amazing. It is everything you would hope for in a ride or die best friend. The unconditional love is expressed throughout the pages, even from the characters highlighted in the previous books. They all seem to fit together so well. They show up for each other no matter what or when! The love story is why I wanted to read this series, but the friendship is what will keep you coming back for more.
As someone who hasn’t read anything by S. Sidney, I went into this book a little blind, but honestly, after a couple of pages, I felt like I got the gist of what was happening, especially since I hadn't read the previous two books.
Of course, I fell in love with Everett and Ruth! They had such pure hearts, and honestly, they are just the perfect couple/pairing! I enjoyed reading their journey of finding happiness in one another.
The found trope in The Sun Will Rise was fabulous, and I loved all the characters, and I loved how tight-knit everyone was with one another. The bond and relationships between everyone really made the book, and I enjoyed reading about all the characters.
Everett and Ruth stood out to me and truly had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. I loved that they were able to fall in love and give us a love story worth reading, considering the chemistry and storyline between them were perfect. Obviously, there were a few ups and downs, but they were able to move forward and truly grow, which I loved seeing.
The author did an amazing job with this book, and she brought such a heartfelt story to life with real and emotional problems that tore me apart while I read it cover to cover! I could not put this book down, no natter how hard I tried, that's how much I loved it! The storyline and plot were well written, and I will definitely be reading the other books in this series, plus anything else she writes <3
Thank you Love Notes PR and Ellie for the ARC of this amazing book.
I knew the cowboy/lawyer trope would make me feel a dozen emotions, and I am so glad I was right about it!
The Sun Will Rise delivered on its promise of high-stakes romance, but what truly stole the show for me was the incredible portrayal of female friendship. More than making me crave a partner, this book made me long for that kind of rock-solid bond with my girlfriends—it’s depicted as an absolute blessing. Beyond the friendships, the author captured Love at First Sight with breathtaking beauty. And yes, the spice? Let’s just say it was spicy-ing very, very much! 😉
The story has a perfect Happily Ever After (HEA), and the character development arc was flawless. The reason I loved it so much was simple: the obstacles and decisions felt completely realistic. Being a lawyer myself, I especially appreciated how authentic those elements were handled. I just needed a little more of the lawyer things but I am satisfied nonetheless. While the connection between the main characters was a little rushed, I had to remind myself that sometimes, when you know, you just know. I made peace with the pacing because the chemistry was that undeniable.
If you’re looking for a book with high heat, authentic emotional struggles, and a friend group you’ll want to join, add this book to your TBR immediately!
I am now officially an S. Sidney fan and can’t wait to dive into her next release!
The Sun Will Rise by S. Sidney is a steamy small-town romance that blends heartache, heat, and hope in a story about love, loss, and finding the courage to start again.
Ruth Bevan is a driven lawyer who has sworn off dating after too many disappointing experiences. She’s practical and focused, until she crosses paths with Everett Tanner, a cowboy with quiet strength and a tender heart. Everett lives for his family ranch, but behind his steady exterior lies grief he hasn’t yet faced.
Their connection begins unexpectedly, with chance meetings in airport lounges and long-distance calls that slowly turn into something deeper. What starts as a flirtation soon becomes a lifeline for them both. Ruth is questioning her career and the life she has built, while Everett is fighting to save his home and community. Together, they find something worth holding on to.
S. Sidney writes with warmth and sensitivity, creating chemistry that sizzles without losing its emotional depth. The love scenes are intense and sensual, but it’s the vulnerability between Ruth and Everett that makes the story linger.
The small-town setting feels real and lived-in, full of charm, gossip, and heart.
Although this is the third book in the Love At First Flight series, it can easily be enjoyed on its own.
The Sun Will Rise is a passionate and heartfelt romance about second chances and rediscovering joy after loss. It’s a story that reminds you love can arrive when you least expect it, and that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is let yourself feel again.
The Sun Will Rise by @S.Sidney is my latest ARC read. With thanks also to @lovenotespr
Book three in the Love at First Flight series is Ruth and Everett's story.
If you've read the first two books (you don't need to, but it's more fun if you have) you'll know that Ruth is Jay's sister and Katy's best friend (MCs in book 2, The Way We Fell).
Ruth's story runs parallel to Katy's for the majority of the book but there's not really any repetition (I like this). She's a lawyer for an international company and meets Cowboy Everett Tanner in an airport lounge in New York. There's some mutual pining until they meet again in an Austin airport lounge. Numbers are exchanged and their relationship begins.
I loved their relationship, their shared meals across the ocean, the getting to know one another until they meet in person again. This is where the spice begins! It's slow at first then it really heats up as Ruth makes more trips to Everett's ranch just outside the small town of Skillett. Definitely the spiciest of the three ‐ I approve!
Towards the final third of the book, the distance gets harder and starts to take it's toll on our MCs, particularly Ruth who is struggling with more than the distance between her and Ev. This is where the story overlaps with book 2 and Ruth's struggles are revealed.
I cried laughing and I cried crying! A wonderfully written story of love across the miles, tested friendships, healing and of course Roger the dinosaur (iykyk)!
Ruth Bevan is a lawyer, a pragmatist, and someone who has sworn off men after too many awful dates. Romance isn’t something she expects, but then she meets Everett Tanner—a cowboy who lives for his family ranch while quietly carrying the weight of grief. Their chance encounters in airport lounges quickly lead to phone calls, FaceTimes, and a connection that puts Everett firmly in Ruth’s heart. But while Everett is ready to love and support her, Ruth is struggling: her once-dream law career now feels suffocating, her friendships are fraying, and her emotions are unraveling. As Everett fights to save his small town, he also becomes the one steady presence who refuses to let Ruth fall apart.
On paper, this setup really hooked me. I liked the idea of a grounded, cowboy hero meeting a no-nonsense lawyer and bringing out a softer, more vulnerable side to her. But in reality, I found Ruth really difficult to like. Most of the time she came across as irritating, which made it hard to connect with her journey. Everett, though, was the highlight of the book for me. I loved their meet-cute, the spark between them, and the way he consistently showed up for her, no questions asked. His patience, kindness, and unwavering support were what carried this story.
The chemistry was good, and the romance had its sweet moments, but ultimately, my enjoyment was held back by Ruth as a character. Still, Everett’s presence made this an okay read overall.
This one gave me such a different vibe than a lot of cowboy romances, and I loved it for that reason! Instead of the usual small-town setup, we get a long-distance love story. Ruth & Everett’s connection felt so instant like soulmates who just knew. Talk about right place, right time! The longing throughout this book was perfection—the texts, the late-night conversations, the way they really took time to see each other even from different countries. It made me believe in how strong love can grow when you strip it down to genuine words and effort. And let’s talk tropes FOUND FAMILY 👏 It added so much warmth and gave that “home is where the heart is” feeling that I can never get enough of. On a deeper level, this story reminded me how life’s curveballs often end up being blessings in disguise. What feels like a setback can actually lead you right where you’re meant to be. That hit me hard and made the story stick with me long after finishing. This is part of a series, but it can totally be read as a standalone (like I did!)—though let’s be honest, I’ll definitely be diving into the rest because I need more of this world 🙌
Overall, this was such a cosy, heartfelt read with a fresh spin on cowboy romance. If you’re looking for something tender, hopeful, and full of love that refuses to give up, The Sun Will Rise Again is one to add to your TBR!
Oh my goodness - Everett is every girls wet dream. From the beginning, this man is charming, sexy, and full of promise. After Ruth and him meet in an airport lounge, he can’t get her out of his head. With a chance of fate, they meet a second time and exchange numbers. Even though they both lived on the other side of the world, the spicy tests, late night FaceTimes, and sexual innuendos were hot and spicy. When they finally got alone time together at Everett’s ranch, all the pent up tension combusted. These two together were steamy, raw, and intense in all the right ways. When Everett fell for Ruth, this man fell hard. He protected her at all costs, was there for her no matter what, and supported her like a true man should. Everett was such a sweetheart and so attentive to Ruth in a way no one else received.
Ruth is a high profile intellectual property lawyer in London who begins to realize that she’s not happy where she’s at anymore. When she meets Everett at the airport lounge, everything begins to change. She falls head over heels for Everett but due to her past, she is fearful of giving up control again. The push and pull between the two of them was pure passion and fire. They loved with an intensity that could be felt though the book.
“Loving you is as true as the sunrise, baby girl.”
Everett was the best depiction of a himbo and gave the best "he falls first and hard" vibes. I loved the way he loved Ruth. With no hesitation and without care of how he came across. he loved her openly before she was even ready to understand what she was feeling. I loved the way he stood by her side when she felt her big feelings and gently encouraged her to allow herself to find her way through her struggles.
Ruth is a super complex character. she is flawed and is cognizant of her flaws. While she means to do everything with the best intent, it gets lost and she tends to drown herself before looking at situations clearly. her need to keep her "things", for lack of a better word, in her possession and control drove her irrational actions and while some can see it poorly, and boy did she come across poorly, I get it. In her mind, Jay was HER brother and even though she loves Katy, it felt like losing him. She LOVES Everett and he's her's also but she feels like she is constantly losing him to the distance between London and Texas. Im glad Ruth was able to figure it out and be able to live her truth. to live happily and to find a happy medium where she keeps her friends, her brother, and her Everett by her side ♡♡
✨This was such a sweet and emotional read. Ruth and Everett’s story had the perfect mix of flirty chemistry, real struggles, and heartfelt moments.🫶🏽 I loved how their connection grew from random airport meetings into something so much deeper.
💕Ruth’s career burnout and Everett’s grief gave the romance extra weight, and I appreciated that it wasn’t just about falling in love but also about finding yourself again.❤️🩹 Everett’s small-town cowboy charm paired with Ruth’s no-nonsense lawyer side made them such a fun, unique couple to root for.🫠
Another aspect I found interesting is the long distance between the mcs. You definitely feel the longing to be near and the excitement when together🥹. I loved how their relationship unfolded naturally, with plenty of tenderness and just the right amount of heat, even from a distance.🤌🏽 I found Ruth’s character intriguing from previous book but in this book, she even more complex. I enjoyed it very much.💛
⭐️Fans of cowboy romances with strong emotional pull will find The Sun Will Rise a worthy addition to their shelves.🙌🏽
Thank you to the Author S. Sidney and LoveNotesPR for the opportunity to read this ARC!🧡
This is the third book in the Love at First Flight series but can be read as a standalone (though there will be some spoilers for the previous books). This book follows Ruth who is an IP lawyer in London and is beginning to realize that it may not be where her passion lies. And Everett, a cowboy who works on his family's ranch in Texas. They meet at an airport bar in NYC and both can't stop thinking about eachother. They think they will never see each other again but fate has other plans.
This was a cute book. The long distance living in two different countries gave the book an interesting dynamic that I enjoyed. There was instalove, but it was marketed in that way, so that didn't bother me at all. The thing that I didn't love was I don't really like the nickname baby girl. I know a lot of people do like it so if that is you then read this book! It just always makes me feel like they are talking to a little girl and kind of gives me the ick. For that reason, I feel like this book just wasn't for me, but in no way was it a bad book!
Their first meet-cute (and second) had me grinning like the Cheshire Cat. S. Sidney wrote it as if we were stepping in it twice. That isn't an easy feat.
I especially loved how Ev gave Ruth a soft place to land. She’s a lawyer, always “on,” and seeing her with someone who simply knew what he wanted, putting his cards on the table, and going all in, because he just knew....SWOON! There’s something about a man who doesn’t play games but instead steps up without hesitation.
Though this book does coincide with another in the series, the stories run side by side in the timeline, but what I appreciated is that it doesn’t fall into the common trap of repeating scenes we’ve already lived through in the previous books. No fillers here...just two strong arcs woven together without redundancy (YAS)!!!
This is book three in the series, and while you could technically read it alone, I’d recommend reading the first two. Not because you’ll be lost otherwise, but because you should experience the whole journey. Trust me, it’s worth it.
The Sun Will Rise is one if my most anticipated reads this fall and wow, did it live up to my expectations! See beginning of the book for content/trigger warnings.
Book 3 in the Love at First Flight series, this is Ruth’s story and I absolutely devoured it! This was one of those books where I would say just one more chapter and ended up reading ten more. Ruth and her friend group are so much fun to read and I feel like I relate to Ruth the most out of all the girls.
Everett is the definition of a man DOWN BAD! He fell fast and wow, did he fall hard. All it took was a chance meeting in an airport lounge and he knew she was the one for him. Cowboy Boo is exactly the partner Ruth needed and he fit seamlessly into the support system she’s built with her friends and family.
Thank you Sammie and LoveNotes PR for the eARC! This was so much fun to read and I cannot wait for Paloma’s story!
This was an ARC read for the wonderful and fantastic S Sidney!!
An absolutely fabulous read, and after not liking Ruth Bevan following the events from the second book 'The Way We Fell', this story is definitely her redemption story and then some.
The way Ruth and Everett fall for each other, and just know they are each other's 'The One' was truly magical. Then there are the moments where Everett realises that Ruth is struggling with certain aspects of her life, and is doing all he can to be there even though they are separated by an ocean and time zones. I think we all wish we could have a Cowboy Boo in our lives 🤠💕
A beautiful story of right place, right time, fate, love, tough decisions, family and of course we cannot forget the friendship, which is a constant throughout this story.
Well and truly a 5⭐ read for me.
🤠 Cowboy x Lawyer 💕 Small Town x City Girl ❤️ Insta Love 🖤 Age Gap (FMC is older) ✈️ Long Distance 😭 Existential Crisis 🥰 Found Family
I’m in love.. I need an Everett in my life! I absolutely adored Ruth and Everett’s story, it was love at first sight. To have that instant connection to someone is just so amazing and I haven’t come across many stories that are love at first sight.
Ruth and Everett meet at the airport and immediately know that there is something between them but they both live miles apart. Reading their journey to overcome that distance and learning about each other more each day just made me fall in love with this book more and more.
Also there are some lovely spicy scenes that definitely get your heart rate going and I can’t lie, I was left biting my lip holding back a grin and enjoying every moment.
I’m sure there is plenty more to come as the side characters are so much fun and they also help to create the story so I don’t doubt that these will be explored in more detail and will have their own story to tell!
This was a decent read for me. The story follows Everett, a cowboy from Austin who owns a ranch and actually rides horses, and Beth, an Intellectual Property Rights lawyer based in London. They accidentally meet at an airport lounge and are instantly drawn to each other. The first time, they don’t exchange numbers, just first names and drink preferences. But out of billions of people, fate makes them cross paths at an airport again, and this time they don’t leave without numbers.
While the book portrayed the struggles of a long-distance relationship almost perfectly, what fell short for me was the character development and emotional depth. I couldn’t feel the connection as strongly as I wanted to. Still, I did enjoy how deeply in love Everett and Beth were, both head over heels for each other. I especially liked how Everett stepped up when it was needed, but what exactly required him to step up is something you will have to read to find out.
The Sun Will Rise is a charming long-distance romance between lawyer Ruth and cowboy Everett, who first meet at an airport. Fate brings them together more than once, and they can't deny that there's a sizzling connection between them. But what do they do when an ocean separates them? (The long-distance FaceTime dates were adorable, especially how excited Everett got about them.)
I really enjoyed getting to know these characters, especially seeing Ruth navigate her journey in balancing her career and personal life. Her girlfriends (from the other books in this series) are there to cheer her on along the way. I also loved how Everett was such a golden retriever hero to her black cat energy.
I missed the second book in this series, so there were some referenced story points that I was a little lost on. The Sun Will Rise is a standalone, but I think there's a better overall experience if you read them in order.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
I've been looking forward to more from this author. The announcement for this book caught my eye. I got right back into the Love At First Flight world. I so enjoyed it!
Ruth and Everett's journey captured my attention right away! Ruth is a lawyer and Everett is a cowboy who works on a ranch. Airport lounges have these two colliding and leads to long distance between them. Can Everett and Ruth figure things out in their lives and be together?
I so enjoyed how these two were brought into each other's lives and getting to see their long distance relationship. From law and ranch life, things they were taking on, and how they made each other feel, I wanted to see how everything would go for Everett and Ruth.
Everett and Ruth had such good chemistry! I so enjoyed their interactions and getting to really know one another. They were both dealing with things in their lives and I appreciated their realness. It was wonderful to see Ruth and Everett get into each other's hearts.
It was awesome to be back in this world.
With The Sun Will Rise, Ms.Sidney has created a good cowboy x lawyer romance that brought long distance, ranch life, realness, and feels! Looking forward to more from this author and the Love At First Flight world! 🤠
Check out the author's note.
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Love Notes PR / the author*
Ruth and Everett meet in an airport bar where flirty words and smiles are exchanged while sparks fly. Unfortunately, Ruth is on her way home to London while Ev heads home to Austin, TX. Fate throws them together again, and this time, they have the wits to exchange information. A long-distance relationship blooms with Ruth traveling to Texas several times to visit Ev. Ruth is battling some internal struggles, though, that cause her to doubt herself and keep her at a job she hates, which really starts to wear on her. Ev and her friends are there for her to pull her through, though!
This book was entertaining. I found it a bit slow to start, but it picked up as it went along. There were also some parts that felt pretty repetitive. It's part of an interconnected series, and I'll admit I haven't read the other books, so that may have changed my view if I had read the previous books.
Based on the blurb, I was expecting to love this book. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't a "couldn't put it down"-read either. I haven't read books 1 and 2 of the Love at First Flight series, but this book reads as a standalone, so I don't consider that to be an issue.
Something I liked about the book is how human the FMC is with her faults and struggles, and how sweet and understanding the MMC is. The friendship between the four women, the books of the series are based on, is also really sweet. I have a hard time pinpointing exactly why this book didn't catch my attention (with the exception of the mental breakdown towards the end of the book). But one thing I did notice that annoyed me a bit was that the author used British spelling when writing from the point of view of the American MMC.
I received an ARC of The Sun Will Rise from Love Notes PR.
Ruth is such a strong character—smart, accomplished, but also juggling that weight of burnout and self-doubt. I loved how real she felt, and seeing her slowly let her guard down with Everett was so satisfying.
And Everett? Total cowboy dream. Rugged, loyal, and quietly hurting from his own losses, he balanced Ruth’s energy perfectly. Their chemistry was instant—you could feel it in every glance, every call, every time they collided in those “chance” moments. The FaceTime scenes and long-distance buildup made the eventual payoff even more delicious. 🔥
The small-town setting, with the ranch and the community vibes, added so much charm, but it also brought out the deeper themes—grief, responsibility, and finding your place. I really liked how Everett wasn’t just Ruth’s love interest but also a man determined to hold onto his roots and keep his town alive.
Ruth is a lawyer who lives in London. Everett is a rancher who lives in Texas. They happen to meet in an airport lounge in New York and then again in Austin. They start out as friends but quickly find themselves in a long-distance relationship. Things progress quickly, secrets are revealed, and friendships are tested. This is more than just a romance. It's a love story, but that love covers more than just significant others. It includes friends and family, and really shows that love conquers all.
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, S. Sidney, and Love Notes PR for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️
