This is the second book that carries on from Florida girls which I really enjoyed. Vegs Girls is as entertaining as the first book. If you like books about the mob, this one will interest you. It is 1945 and these girls are ready to pull off the con of their lives. It will not be easy as the women are confronted by many dubious criminals and the challenges they face will have you holding your breath. A great range of characters, some we have met before and others that we are newly introduced to bring the book to life and show that strong women can survive in this environment and come out on top. Very cleverly written by the author who moves the story along fluidly to hold your attention throughout. A story that explores friendship between women who are facing the wrath of men that are ruthless and determined. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.
What happens when the Florida girls hit Las Vegas? You won’t believe what they get themselves into. And I’m not going to tell you. Except to say, you’re going to enjoy yourselves. A lot. On to Havana!
Vegas Girls is a romp! Florida Girls introduced us to the main characters of this second book, but the adventure stands on its own for excitement and flair. Our trip takes us from Florida to a fledgling Las Vegas and then on to Cuba. I particularly enjoyed how author LL Kirchner captures the seediness and potential glamour of a dusty and hot Las Vegas, as well as the schemes of infamous members of the mob. The female characters are strong and resilient as they define their place in the world of a powerhouse city. And the con they run at the end is amazing. Hold onto your hats for a fabulous ending — I finished it and thought, this should be a movie!
