Ariana I’ve spent the past few years going wherever my free-spirited heart takes me.. My beat-up RV is the only constant… until it dies in the middle of a postcard-perfect mountain town. I’ve survived worse. I can survive this. But then he shows up. Grumpy. Bossy. Infuriatingly gorgeous. Jasper thinks he can fix my problems—and maybe even me. Part of me wants to let him. Even if I know that this will end in a shattered heart and broken spirit. Because no one has ever wanted to keep me before, so why would he?
Jasper All I wanted was my coffee—black, quiet, and drama-free. What I got? A pink-haired hurricane with sticky fingers and a smile that could ruin a man. I guess she doesn’t know what happens to naughty girls who steal. Then she looks at me with those lost blue eyes and something tugs at my cold black heart. She needs a Daddy. She needs me. And I think I need her too. But one of these days, she’s going to leave and I’m going to be even more broken than I already am.

3.3 stars. Fun. Sweet. It did feel like something was missing from it though. No one element ever got to where I felt like I wanted it to. Still good though.
Kate Oliver really makes me question some things and I absolutely love it! I really liked the plot for this book and felt like it was so different and unique!! My heart felt so much for both these characters! Neither Jasper or Ariana thought they deserved to be loved and watching them fall for each other was beautiful!!! I will say with every book in this series I become more and more feral for these brothers! Can’t wait for the next one!
Protective DD Independent LG Found Family Slow Burn He Falls First
Ariana grew up in foster care and at 18 she purchased a used car that came with a rusty broken down camper. Its small but its her home. At 22 her camper has been her home for a few years now. After breaking down in Bend Oregon, she struggles to stay warm and to find a job. She has one real skill and that is pick pocketing, which she learned in foster care.
Jasper grew up in horrible foster cares and as a teenager he was taken in with a group of other teens and they became a dark ops crew. Their compound in Bend Oregon is hidden away from prying eyes and its his sanctuary. He struggles to sleep as nightmares plague him each night.
A morning stop at the local coffee shop, he spots Ariana and is intrigued. He quickly catches on to her skim, a watch from one man, a wallet from another where she pulls a few ones. Then Ariana sets her eyes on Jasper, and game on. He calls her out on being a little thief, but doesn't blow her cover.
A few weeks go by and Jasper learns that Ariana is living in her broken down cabin and being the protective DD that he is, that won't work for him. He brings her to the compound where she slowly learns to trust and realizes for the first time in years that she's not alone.
Will Jasper and Ariana's dynamic be temporary, or will they let go of their pasts and see where this relationship could go?
Jasper is a super protective Daddy who finds love with the sassy Little, Arianna. She’s been living rough until Jasper takes her in, and despite being a Little, she is still strong, independent, and often stubborn.
This book develops a lot slower than other Kate Oliver stories I’ve read, but I didn’t mind it too much. We got to know the characters better without the entire focus being on sex. That said, the “temporary” relationship discussion dragged on a bit too long and they weren’t officially together until about 75% of the way through.
The age-play scenes we got were really good, but I wish there had been more of them as a couple, not just when Arianna was with the girls or when she was sleepy.
Although slower in plot development, I don’t think it was a slow timeline, but some time this was a little unclear. At times, day turned into night suddenly, or there were time jumps that made it hard to track how much had passed. Not the worst thing, but can make things a little hard to follow.
One thing I really didn’t like was the nickname change. “Little thief” was perfect — it was cute, tied into their history, and had personality. “Rainbow” just didn’t fit and felt flat in comparison. It felt insignificant and lacked personality.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed this book and definitely want Theo or Rowie’s story next (or maybe them together 👀).
I'm so happy I dropped everything to read this it was absolutely amazing! I loved every minute of this book and seeing how two people who did not have the happiest childhoods find each other was perfect.
Ariana was such a strong independent woman who did not want to rely on anyone because she was always sent away seeing her run into Jasper while trying to survive was adorable and so amazing because he caught her doing something she should not and could not get her put of his mind. Seeing him find out what was really going on in her life made him so much more interested and obsessed to make her his. And boy did he even if she wasn't sire what was good for her. Seeing his battle her sass and finally get her to realize she would rely on him and he wouldn't send her way was heart melting and sewing them finally start their dynamic was perfect.
As always the found family was great and seeing Ari find out she now has people in her circle and more family than she ever thought she would was amazing. Such a beautiful read and I cannot wait to read more of Kate's writing!!
What a story! From the moment Ariana — aka Rainbow, the little thief with pastel pink hair — collides with Jasper, the broody, sleep-deprived Dark Ops warrior with a heart buried under scars, I was hooked.
We got a glimpse of Jasper in Cage's book, but this story lets us dive into the complexity behind the danger — the psychotic edge, his fierce protectiveness, and surprisingly soft core, especially with Rowie and Ember.
Ariana’s story adds another layer of depth: she’s not just feisty and full of life — she’s fighting to survive, wrestling with trauma, and doesn’t trust easily. Her chemistry with Jasper is instant, but the true magic lies in how their connection grows as trust is painfully, beautifully built.
There’s action, heartache, and some jaw-dropping twists, but what sticks with me is the emotional journey. These two earn their happy ending.
Kate Oliver never misses, and Jasper might just be one of my favorites in the series. It’s gritty, tender, and addictive. Highly recommend to anyone who loves broken heroes, fierce heroines, and slow-burn healing love.
Jasper is the second book of the Dark OPs Daddies series of interconnected standalones. I am really loving this series and this band of brothers. This was a pretty easy and quick read and is one that will make your heart happy. Ariana is sassy, independent and hasn’t ever had anyone to take care of her. She has been living in a travel trailer with no utilities in the dead of winter. When Jasper finds this out he literally drags her and all her belongings to stay with him and his family. Jasper is broody, protective and loves with his whole heart. He has his own demons that he is fighting but will do anything to make sure Ariana is safe and happy. I love that Ariana isn’t afraid of Jasper and stands up to him from the get go. You can tell that these two have chemistry from their first meeting but it is a slow burn which I loved. It made their relationship feel more authentic. Overall I really enjoyed this book and finished it in one sitting. Highly recommend!
Another fantastic read from Kate! I love Jasper and Ariana so much.
Ariana is an amazing fmc, she’s relatable. She’s so strong and been through so much. I just wanted to hug her. Her story was pretty emotional at times.
I LOVE the grumpy x sunshine trope. Jasper is so grumpy, I loved him! I swear Kate writes the best daddy doms! Jasper is dark, broody, but so protective of her. Swoon! He also has his own demons, the healing with him was beautiful to see.
Kate's found family Daddies of Bend Oregon are just so good. Jasper immediately notices Ariana when she utilises her light fingered skills for survival in the local Cafe. Of course Jasper being the dark op Daddy that he is, notices everything around him, especially Ariana's skills. This leaves him antsy and when he finds out she is living in terrible circumstances, he steps in basically kidnaps her to keep her safe, warm and well. The interaction between them is so good and believable. Between Jasper and Ariana's demons, we get a glimpse into their pasts and how it affects their present. Kate provides us with an explosive, but sweet story of Daddy and Little, especially when Ariana isn't afraid at all of the grumpy Jasper. Loved it.
This was another great book from Kate! Jasper is dark and broody and has trauma from his childhood. Him, along with the 12 others make up the secret dark ops teams that works with several different entities. Our FMC is living out of an old trailer that has inconveniently (or maybe not, if you're Jasper) broken down in a small town in the mountains.
From the moment they catch eyes in the cafe its all over for Jasper, while the initially resist it doesn't take too terribly long for both of them to admit their feelings. What follows is a story of coming home because home is a person, not a camper or a mountain.
This has strong DD/lg themes and open door spice, please make sure you read the warnings
He is so perfectly grumpy and she is such a sassy minx! Ari is down on her luck and making her unhomed life work for her as best as she can, when she runs into Daddy Jasper at cafe. Unable to accept any charity she runs from his help, but she stays stuck on his mind! He has been tracking her and when he finally realizes she has been squatting just outside his house, well he kidnaps her of course and does what any good Daddy does. Feeds her, clothes her, makes sure she is warm and taken care of. She makes friends and even his brothers like her! I loved everything about how possessive Jasper was! He was so desperately trying not to scare her with his obsession while she was secretly desperately hoping he would claim her.
This is a DDLG romance. If that’s not your kink, this may not be for you.
I really enjoyed this one. Jasper and Ariana completely pulled me in. Both are broken in different ways, and it was so satisfying watching them slowly let each other in and find what they both needed.
Ariana is a fierce, independent hurricane of a woman, and Jasper is the grumpy, protective Daddy she never saw coming. Their dynamic was emotional, tender, and beautifully written.
I also loved the found family elements and seeing Ariana finally find a place where she belonged. If you enjoy emotional Daddy kink romances with a lot of heart, definitely give this one a read! I’ve read all of Kate Oliver’s books and they just get better and better.
Jasper is a heartwarming, gritty, and emotionally charged romance that pairs a sunshine-souled thief with a grumpy, protective biker Daddy. Ariana, a pink-haired survivor with a troubled past and a knack for lifting wallets, meets her match in Jasper—a brooding, tattooed man who instantly sees through her defenses. When she tries to avoid him, fate (and a dangerous encounter) throws them together in the most unexpected way.
Jasper’s decision to take Ariana—and her broken-down camper—into his family’s compound sets the stage for a slow-burning but intensely nurturing relationship. Ariana’s resilience and vulnerability blend beautifully with Jasper’s commanding but gentle nature. The found-family dynamic adds depth, humor, and healing to this unconventional love story. And when danger returns from Ariana’s past, Jasper proves exactly how far he’ll go to protect his Little Thief.
This story is equal parts spicy and sweet with just enough suspense to keep you turning pages. I gave it 4 stars and can’t wait to see who finds their perfect match next in this unique and lovable world.
Jasper by Kate Oliver is the second book in the Dark Ops Daddies series and has me hooked. Jasper is an emotionally guarded ex-ops Daddy with a past he is keeping deeply buried. Ariana is a free-spirited and brave survivor whose chaotic entire life has been about survival. What I loved most wasn’t just the steamy chemistry they shared. It’s also soft, vulnerable and comforting in a way I didn’t expect. The slow healing, the trust-building, the feeling of finally being safe with someone. Watching Jasper learn how to love and be loved nearly had me crying. This isn’t just a spicy romance. It’s a story of healing, trust, resiliance and choosing love—even when it’s scary.
When Kate Oliver releases a book, I drop everything and read it. The second book in her series, Dark Ops Daddies is Jasper's story. He doesn't think he deserves anyone to love but when he finds Ariana in a coffee shop, he's hooked. Oh, he won't admit it to anyone but when he keeps going back and looking for her, you know he's met the one for him. Ariana has been living in her RV until it broke down. The way Jasper took charge and brought her home with him was funny in a way. I loved seeing Cage, Rowie, Theo and the rest of the gang and can't wait for their stories but Jasper, for some reason, holds a special place in my heart!
Absolutely loved everything about this book. I tried pacing it out, and only reading a few chapters a day, because I didn't want it to end. Jasper and Ariana are perfect for each other. Her helping him sleep after finding out he struggles with insomnia, was just the sweetest thing! "If you’re going to look out for me, I’m going to help you get some sleep.”
Gosh I cried so much with Ariana's friendship with Theo, it's definitely exactly like a perfect brother and sister relationship. Now I want Theos book, because I fell in love with him too! I just love them all!🥰
Jasper is a grumpy Daddy Dom who is immediately taken with the pink haired pickpocket he catches in the coffee shop. Ariana is doing what she has to to get by. Her car is broken down, She’s living in an old rv trailer with no heat with a bald cat named Fluffy. She would get a job but her skills don’t translate to regular employment. Jasper and she may have similar backgrounds but they are opposites in nature. These two had me on the edge of tears, laughing and swooning.
From nothing to everything! Ari and Jasper’s share a background of being foster kids but that is where the similarities end. His violent past makes him something of an outcast outside of his found family. Her relative easy foster care family made her an outcast without any connection. Until Jasper finds her and brings her home to keep. Definitely worth reading of you love Daddy books.
This book took me over two weeks to finish, and I didn’t even jump between books. I’ve just been busy, omg. I’m NOT getting to 100 books this year 😭😭😭
Anyways, this was fine, but it also made me question my fascination with this kink. Like I’m not particularly into it. It makes me cringe a little. But it fascinates me in a way I can’t understand. So I continue to read about it. I need to look within myself for sure.
Jasper was absolutely amazing. He’s broody and dominant and just delicious. I loved Ariana she was resourceful and had a wonderful moral compass. She would always help those in need and I just adored the story. I cannot wait for more of these Black Ops daddies. I really want to see Rowan and Theo’s story but all the brothers seem amazing.
This is the second book in the Dark Ops Daddy series. Like many of her books this a light/cozy version of ops. It is a grumpy/sunshine trope. There is only one spicy scene in the book.
I’ve been waiting for this book forever & it was so worth the wait!! Jasper is the perfect hero & Ariana is perfect for him! Heck, she makes me want to go buy some pink koolaid to do my hair like hers!! This one checked off all of my boxes & I really recommend it!!
Kate you never disappoint and where this is more of a slow burn it was still perfect.I love how you bring to light real life issues like homelessness and food aggression due to trama. An of course a healthy dose of "Daddy will make it all better" with a dash of " she MINE "on the side. I can't wait for the next daddy.
I love grumpy Jasper and sassy spunky Ariana. Their story was worth the wait. There is definitely love, drama and a very strict daddy. This is a grumpy\sunshine book but Jasper becomes softer and more kind the more he falls in love. This is a great follow up to Dark Ops Daddies book 1.
I love this couple. I especially loved Fluffy the cat. Jasper & that cat have quite the relationship. The one scene where he tries to help the cat stay warm has had me laughing for days. It's funny because it's so true. I have yet to read one of her books & not enjoy it. This is a favourite series of mine. All of the characters are so interesting.
Love this grumpy/sunshine story!!! Ariana is absolutely adorable and Jasper is certainly nothing to scoff at with his over protective and grumpy ways. She brings light and color to his life and he brings family and belonging to hers. A match made in heaven for sure!!
Not as good as Cage but it was wonderful seeing the family again! I can’t wait for Theo’s story hearing a little about him in this one just broke my heart but made me so intrigued. Jasper and Ari are terrific together I just didn’t feel a connection with the couple so i wasn’t as invested in the outcome as I normally am in any of Kate’s books!!
I’m a sucker for these types of books! Jasper poor guy is hurting and is forever trying to outrun the pain, until he meets Ariana! She’s living in a rundown RV just trying to survive! And when their worlds collide ain’t nothing stopping the collision!
This is just book two in this series and I cannot wait for the rest of these men’s stories.
I decided to give this book a try even though I only half-liked the first one in the series. I really enjoy the overall concept, and this one had less drama and focused more on the relationship, which I appreciated. However, a lot of it felt like a direct repeat of book one—sometimes almost word for word.
I loved this story! Jasper and Ariana was wonderful together, but it was Theo who stole the show for me. It was *his* confession that made me cry, and my favorite quote is one of his: "We don't start eating until the entire family is around the table. We'll wait."
