Valen Lanvik is a rare jewel, stolen from another world. A Viking stowaway, fleeing an arranged marriage to a brutal Earl...
When she battles the sea for her freedom, she finds her salvation in a forgotten cave, hidden through a crack in the cliffs... A cave that leads her to another realm, where Valen finds herself at swordpoint by a man who promises to kill her...and drags her back to his castle.
She's human. He's Fae.
His people are vanishing. Their queen has been murdered. Their king is desperate for answers. The realm doesn't trust her.
But going back is a death sentence.
They set out to solve the mystery of the missing...and try not to fall in love. The Fae plead for the mercy of the lost gods... And Valen holds the key... As the battle for Valhalla rages between both their worlds.
H.B. Elliott is an over-caffeinated book nerd from North Carolina, where she lives with her husband, her two amazing children, a dog that thinks she's a chew toy, and a cat that's ten times more temperamental.
She started writing in her early teens, and was inspired by dark moody legends like Edgar Allan Poe. Art and photography were a staple in her creative development and remains that way into her adulthood. Her main genre and focus is Romance, though she's acquired a good many hats within that spectrum.
Fantasy is a gateway. Historical fiction is a drug. Dark romance is non-negotiable. Love is more binding than the spine of any book.
Elliott is a firm believer in the Savior, and credits all her success to His name. After all...He's the one who told her she can do all things.
He also still reprimands her on a regular basis of all the smut she continues to read.
If you're a fan of the show Vikings and you like reading fantasy books about Fae, this is right up your alley. I love how the Viking lore is intertwined with the fantasy world. I'm so excited for book two!!! ( I was fortunate enough to be able to ARC read this. I can wait to get my hands on the physical copy😍)
Idk what happened to my first review, but the zon is letting me do another. Thanks.
I was intrigued by the cover art. Valen's blurb hooked me as it should. Their story, Valen & Aric's, had me scrolling page after page. Not wanting it to end and knowing it would, for now. I love the importance of the mating bond. I have a feeling Valen & Aric's is more powerful than any god. Can't wait for book 2. Happy writing.
Standing ovation for this book and this author!! Because wtf did I just read and I mean that in most respectful and best way. The characters…the world building…the amazing plot and storyline…PHENOMENAL!!
This is HANDS DOWN one of the greatest books I have ever read! The story, the characters, every ounce kept me hanging on for dear life! If you like fae, gods & Vikings with 2 bad ass main characters you will LOVEEEEE this! READ IT NOW!
I just have one question: why is this book not more talked about? I think it deserves its place among the other Fantasy romances!!
This is exactly what you should read when looking for - enemies to lovers - Fated mates - Cursed kingdom - Trial - Dual V 🤭
The Viking universe was a nice touch. Now, that being said this one is a big baby!! And there were extra length that like repetition of what has already been said. After they fought their desires for each other the book dragged a bit. Overall I enjoyed it, just thought it should have been shorter
