Jessie's team is put to work together again when one of the President's assistants is found dead in an alley covered by an American flag missing one star. Soon a Congresswoman is also found dead in the same manner. It's clear whoever the killer is he is trying to make a political statement, but what is it? And why? fast-paced story that will keep the reader entertained for a few hours. I thank Ms. Dark and her publisher for this ARC.
Second of the Jessie Reach series I’ve read in the last few days. Don’t start the first if you don’t want to read the others. Well plotted and interesting characters. Several fun on-going threads in the series—Matt & Jessie, why her mom was murdered as well as others. Glad I came across her books!
I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I hadn't spent a lot of time correcting it, which is why I only gave 2 stars, the story was good and I would have given 4 stars had it not been for all the mistakes.
It’s a just okay read, much like a television show, designed for a quick read, fast plot, semi-conclusion, and serial hook. I wish I felt the characters or even the plot delivered more.
"His Other Self" by Rylie Dark is the second book in the Jessie Reach Mystery series, and it’s a solid, fast-paced thriller. It follows FBI Special Agent Jessie Reach as she takes on the case of a murdered presidential assistant. The killer leaves behind a cryptic symbol resembling an American flag, kicking off a tense, high-stakes manhunt. Readers seem to love the gripping twists and turns of the story. One person even said, "I couldn’t put it down and never guessed who the murderer was!" It’s a suspenseful, cat-and-mouse kind of book that fans of political thrillers and crime fiction will eat up. That said, not everyone’s thrilled with it. A reviewer on here (Goodreads) pointed out some sloppy proofreading, which can pull you out of the story. They went so far as to say, "For crying out loud, proofread!" "His Other Self" has plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments and a clever plot, but it could use a bit more polish. If you enjoy mysteries with political intrigue and unexpected twists, it’s worth checking out!
I'm not through with the book and I'll finish it but what version am I reading that the editing errors are so bad?! So distracting, and so obvious. Pay me to edit this, or I'll even do it for free. I won't do less stars for the sake of the author, but fire your editor.
The story was interesting, but contained way too many errors. Matt suddenly became Michael at one point. There are incomplete sentences and some sentences that just don’t make sense. It would be a more enjoyable read without all the mistakes.
Fast paced and easy to read. The cast of characters interesting. This special task force made up of individual from different law enforcement agencies to work together on high profile cases. Their different approach to the crimes adds an extra bit of interest.
I love this series.. Although I gave it 5 stars, I would like to suggest better proof reading. There were a few places rereading was necessary to correctly interpret the text. Don't let that stop you, though. It's worth the effort.
I am just loving this series. I especially love the was one book and story leads into the next book. I’m looking forward to the relationship between Jessie and Matt.
