Dash Allman, P.I.* by Diane Bator is a delightful collection of seven lighthearted mystery stories that follow the escapades of Dashiell Allman, or Dash, a quirky and relatable private investigator. Set against the charming backdrop of a beachside cottage, Dash's world is filled with quirky characters and entertaining mysteries that range from jewel thieves to runaway llamas.

What makes *Dash Allman, P.I.* stand out is its balance of mystery and humor. Each story is infused with Dash's witty, laid-back personality and her love for the simple pleasures in life—like Jimmy Buffet and walks on the beach. Despite her easygoing demeanor, Dash proves to be a sharp and determined investigator, solving cases with a combination of intuition, wit, and sheer persistence.

The supporting characters add to the fun, with their eccentricities bringing a comedic flair to the more serious undertones of crime-solving. Whether Dash is contending with a mysterious cat lady, navigating her complicated romantic life, or facing dangerous criminals, each story brings a fresh, engaging twist.

Bator’s writing style is casual and entertaining, making the book perfect for readers who enjoy light, cozy mysteries with a dash of humor. The episodic nature of the book allows readers to enjoy each story as a standalone mystery while still getting to know Dash as a character across the collection.

Overall, *Dash Allman, P.I.* is a charming and fun read that will keep readers entertained from start to finish. It’s a perfect pick for fans of cozy mysteries who are looking for something quirky, humorous, and a little bit offbeat.

New intriguing mysteries – solid entertainment!

Canadian author Diane Bator writes mystery novels, as her list of publications confirms: Wild Blue Mysteries, Gilda Wright Mysteries, Audra Clemmings Mysteries, Glitter Bay Mysteries, and now a new series – Dash Allman Mysteries, of this DASH ALL P.I. is the initial volume. She is a Book Coach, and a member of Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime, the Writers’ Union of Canada, and The Writers’ Community of York Region. In other words, she has found success for her cozy mysteries, one strong reason being her style of writing, offering her principle character Dash in conversation with the reader as the story opens, an immediate involvement in her rising mystery.

‘Once upon a time, there was a girl named after a handsome mystery writer her mom was in love with. Dashiell Hammett. Deep down, I think she wanted her daughter to become a famous mystery writer. Or a nurse. Or a lawyer. Oh, boy, was she disappointed! After much foot-stomping and humiliation – as well as at least one fist fight a year in school – the girl shortened her name to Dash. It was the only name change her mother would consent to until she was an adult and could legally become someone else…Okay. It was me. I’m Dash.’ And so we meet the private detective/beach bum who accompanies us through seven excellent mysteries, related with Diane Bator’s signature fine humor. This is a refreshing new series by an author who has mastered her craft! Recommended

I enjoyed entering Dash's world : An engaging, quirky and offbeat PI that can't help get in trouble but still solves the mystery! She's left me craving breakfast hotdogs and a beach side cottage :)
A volume filled with funny and very satisfying mysteries!
