A rescued kitten brings two men together in this sweet Boys' Love manga.
Takaba, a veterinary student, finds a stray cat that needs help and rushes it to an animal hospital...where he falls in love at first sight with Baba, the director. Trying to get closer to him, Takaba gets a job there, and Baba's flirtatious behavior inflames his feelings till he can no longer repress them... A slow burn age-gap BL story about a straightforward younger veterinarian and his complicated boss!
Man, there's so many things I couldn't stand about this.
1. I could barely tell the two main characters apart. Why didn't the mangaka make them more visually distinct? Baba is supposed to be this older, more professional guy in comparison to our MC but he looks like any other 18 year old manga character. 2. The story feels very flat and kind of unbelievable. 3. After a certain point in the story, the MC's affection for his love interest, Baba-sensei, becomes less cute puppy-love (pun intended) and more creepy and forceful as he It's so gross and kinda made me hate our MC after that. There's a difference between "I won't give up on you" and "I won't take no for an answer", and the fact that Takaba acts like he can't control himself around Baba is not charming, especially after this. 4. These two genuinely have no chemistry. I could believe it if they worked really well together, or if they couldn't stay apart for long without thinking of each other, but they seem more like awkward coworkers at best. Baba is supposed to be a rough-and-tough, tsundere type character, but to me it more feels like he genuinely wants nothing (romantic or friendly) to do with Takaba. 5. If you needed another reason to avoid this one, it ends abruptly, and there isn't any volume 2. There is no resolution for this story. It kinda makes the whole affair feel like a massive waste of time, as the cliffhanger isn't even satisfying or interesting either.
In general, I think that both the art and the story are extremely lacking in this one. I would pass on it.
Oh wow that ending is extremely unsatisfying... like wdym there's not a second volume? They're not even together by the end!! The set up/ concept is pretty basic and nothing new, but it's something I enjoy. It is cute in places, but the story is pretty lukewarm imo. I feel like it dragged out. This could've easily ended with them together if the story was just tightened up. Plus it felt so surface level like the pieces are there, but it didn't quite follow through. I'm pretty disappointed.
I actually liked this but this is definitely NOT A ONE SHOT. It ends like there will be a vol 2. This was originally printed in Japan in 2022. I don’t think there will be another volume… It’s basically incomplete, sadly.
This was cute, but damn that was an abrupt ending. I liked the art and that the two characters didn't fall into an instant relationship, that there was baggage to be dealt with first - and cute cats! But that ending...the story just stopped? like it was a webcomic and I should expect the update next week, only this seems to be a standalone. Recommend borrowing from the library rather than buying.
this one has so much potential but it literally just drops off. The ending isn't really even an ending.... I see why this one has such low ratings now. It's weird how abruptly this ends and it doesn't even feel like a oneshot/standalone...
1.5⭐️. The way this ended was so random… too many loose ends & the two of them are very young/immature especially for veterinarians who have to get a doctorate degree..
I really wanted to love this, especially as someone who has been in the vet med field as a vet tech student.
this was kind of a let down. I love the premise, but instead of being a cute romance, it was more of this anxiety ridden, darting around having a crush kind of story. it felt like it was aimed towards a female audience, which isn't necessarily bad, but not what I wanted from this.
This one was so cute and I really enjoyed the art style. But that ending?! How is there not more, cause there was no conclusion or anything. That’s so disappointing, cause I definitely want more.
Super disappointing. I picked this up from B&N because I pretty much will buy any manga that cats are in the plot, but the ending was such a let down. I wish I'd read reviews before purchasing!
This was such a fun and cute little story! I loved Takaba and Baba and died over how awkward Takaba was. And then there was that strange scene that I could have done with out... But overall, these two were cute, and I enjoyed the art and the vet clinic setting!
During the last chapter, I kept thinking: there's no way this can wrap up in a satisfying way in the remaining pages. And, well. It didn't. The author's note indicates they'd hoped to continue writing, but since this was published in Japan in 2022, it looks like they didn't get a chance for further serialization. So this just ends, very abruptly, without actually concluding the story. If you'd assumed, like me, that this was a one-shot, be warned that it is not!
It was still good, though. And even if it never continues, I prefer the way it ended here - with some hints of hope for an eventual mutual relationship, rather than an attempt to cram a happy ending into a few pages at the end.
Some of the reviews here talk about it being a very basic story, etc, and I disagree. I found the pacing and storytelling very refreshing. The only reason it's not five stars is because it doesn't have a proper ending.
While the "age gap" element isn't terribly present - they're only five years apart and you can't tell from the art which of them is meant to be older - the workplace dynamics are given more weight than I typically see in these types of stories.
Takaba originally met Baba when he was a veterinary student, which I think must've been a couple years prior to this volume's events, since he's a "sensei" at work now, and they talk about their initial meeting like a distant event that Takaba is surprised Baba remembers. Takaba has been in love with Baba the entire time, which he finally lets slip accidentally - and Baba brings it up pretty quickly, in order to clear up any possible misunderstanding.
I liked this. I liked how mature Baba is about it - while some intense awkwardness does ensue because Takaba refuses to give up on liking him, Baba does his best to gently but firmly turn him down while maintaining their friendly workplace culture.
One of my favorite parts was the scene in the shed. This would've gone so differently in so much of the BL I've read. First, there's the conversation, where Baba asks Takaba what it is that he likes about him, anyway, and then points out that it sounds more like admiration than romantic love. And the truth is...it kind of does. Takaba only knows Baba's work persona, which is gentle and funny and friendly and super nice.
Frustrated and upset by the realization that Baba might be right, Takaba resolves that he'll prove it to both of them - and tries to shove Baba against the wall to kiss him (which would've definitely turned into more in so many other stories). Baba tells him to stop, then punches him when he doesn't, and for the next two months, they don't really speak about it.
When they finally do, it's in a way that brings out more of their dynamic as individuals and as a pairing. Baba is hot-tempered and stubborn and kind of combative, and does not like to apologize when he believes he was in the right. He does apologize for hitting Takaba, which he felt was as inappropriate as what Takaba was doing.
For his part, Takaba is terrified Baba (a) hates him and (b) is going to fire him for sexual harassment. Which, yeah! He kind of could. For both that event and for the times at work that Takaba has being pursuing him or talking about it in front of their coworkers and clients.
I liked that this was actually a plot point, because workplace romances and power dynamics do have complications that you can't just brush over with "True Love" etc.
Baba still doesn't think he's interested in Takaba in any romantic sort of way, although they have had a special bond for a while. Their friendship resumes, with some additional connections building during a work retreat. And that's where we end, with Takaba turning down a woman who'd shown clear interest in him, becoming more and more convinced that what he feels for Baba is real.
And Baba, for his part, is starting to warm to Takaba more, particularly since he hasn't lost interest in him once he saw his not so nice, much more rough around the edges personality.
It's a really nice story with good pacing and good promise, and I'm sad it doesn't seem like there will be a proper conclusion.
Really cute. Takaba has had a crush on his boss at the vet clinic, Baba, ever since he was still a vet student. He’s kept it to himself, but when he catches Baba napping, he blurts out his feelings. But Baba heard him and asks Takaba about it, only to reject the other guy when Takaba admits it.
But Takaba isn’t about to give up—which he declares in front of the entire vet clinic. Baba is equally determined to make Takaba see his feelings can’t be love. After all, the other guy doesn’t know Baba’s true self, which always makes his dates break up with him. Many cute and awkward situations follow.
I thought this would be a stand-alone manga, but it’s only the start of the story. The romance doesn’t really get anywhere despite the best efforts of their coworkers. There doesn’t seem to be more available yet though, even in the original Japanese, but I hope the story continues. Both men were interesting and I’d like to see them find their HEA. Art was good.
So the reason this is 3 stars is because the story feels incomplete. Very incomplete. It feels like the story just kind of stops in the middle. Honestly, I wasn't even sure if I should tag this as BL. The rating would be higher if this were just the first volume, but I haven't seen anything that indicates there will be any follow-ups, even in the afterword. If it were just the first volume, I'd say it's a solid start to a slower-burn romance. Unfortunately, though, if this is all there is to it then it doesn't actually have anything you might call a plot, since nothing really happens. It's just a kind of slice-of-life unrequited-love story, which isn't what I signed up for. If we end up getting a second volume, I'll revise my review, but as it stands I'm pretty disappointed.
⭐️3 Okay, the story was pretty cute. There was one point where Takaba was kinda pushy and Baba punched him, which I thought was fair game.
They have a pretty cute relationship but it’s not really a relationship?? Baba has no clue whats going on and thinks that Takaba is coming on to him every single time. Then Baba gets drunk has a dream and snuggles up to Takaba. Now we have a confused Takaba, nice. Aaaanndd thats the ending 🤨
I feel like this needs a part two desperately. The story is good, slow and angsty i guess but noting happens in the end when it comes to them forming a relationship.
I honestly don’t know whether to rate this a two or a three. Firstly, there is no build-up for either of the characters to fall in love with one another. Secondly, I did not like how the MC forced himself on Baba throughout the story and didn’t even apologize for it, rather Baba apologized for punching him for it even though it was Takaba’s fault. Lastly, there is no ending, the story concludes very abruptly and there appears to be no other chapters or a second story in the works. Despite all of this, I did quite like the premise, I just wish more time was dedicated into making this story longer and more satisfying to read.

The mix of the age-gap dynamic and the bustling hospital setting really makes Takaba's straightforward dedication to both the animals and Baba shine. It's also super interesting to see how modern clinics are depicted in BL, especially with how real-world practices are evolving alongside premium veterinary trends toward high-end care and specialized services. Definitely adding this one to my reading list!
While the couple didn’t get together, I do actually like the open-ended way that things ended for them. This was a really cute manga but I would’ve liked it more if there were more volumes; not even to develop the relationship but to flesh out the characters individually. They were cute but I didn’t feel the need or want to learn more about them.

Set up like there should be a second volume or at least another chapter….. there isn’t one, though. Also, I just did the harassment training for my job and I would report that guy to HR….. just because you like someone, you can’t try and plant one on them.
Honestly, the more I think about the lower my rating is going….
The ending is so abrupt. It felt like maybe something could have been done with the story but I wouldn't even call this a BL this is a one sided romance, I don't think Baba was even ever into him.
There is a part where his feelings "overwhelm" him and he kind of attack his crush... le sigh.
There just wasn't enough pining and feelings to enjoy this at all.
The premise of this story was really cute but ultimately fell flat. The biggest reason being the abrupt and not satisfying ending. The love interest looks like a kid, not like a professional adult. There's also a consent violation that gave me the ick (not explicit.) Great art and fun setting, but don't recommend.
I enjoyed the story enough but I cant give this more than 3 stars. Why?
1) There was a VERY weird ans questionable scene in the middle that the person responsible for didnt really atone for AND the wrong person apologized 2) The whole book is leading up to something that we don't get to see play out. It's unsatisfying. 3) We didnt even get to see very much of the "real" Baba-san.

This was cute and fun and it left me wanting more. I grabbed this because I thought the story was just one volume but the way it ends gives me the impression that there is more.
Not sure if I would still like someone like the Director after seeing his bad side, but I feel it was warranted it.

Es entretenido y algo lindo, pero al mismo tiempo no siento que pasara nada. Supongo que debe de haber un segundo volumen, pero en realidad no parece haber publicada una continuación, así que se siente totalmente incompleto
I was so tickled when I saw this, I bought it without researching it. The love interest is a jerk, and the male main character’s love becomes more of an obsession and not becomes increasingly creepy.
It’s not a compelling romance (feels very much in the “gay guy is pursuing a straight guy who isn’t interested” vein), and then it just… ends. I have no idea why someone selected this for localization.
I liked the whole idea, and the set-up was decent, but the ending left me wanting for more. *Though the bonus with Baba-san in a maids dress was really nice to see
I have to agree with another review I saw, as a one-shot it leave you hanging, but this would do well as a series.
So, hopefully, maybe in the future, the author is given the opportunity to expand on this story.
