A varied collection of individual stories, accompanied by the author’s words on the wider societal issues and impacts of each personal story. A great and strong reminder that your voice matters and that whilst society might have a particular narrative for what it is to be female, the reality of being a female can be very different for each and every one of us. Creating your own kitchen table is vitally important, allowing us to find a network - of friends, family and colleagues - that truly support us, as well as sharing their own vulnerabilities and wisdom, and is a feeling that Louise creates with her book enabling different thoughts, feelings, attitudes and experiences to be communicated in their own words. Naturally I related more to some stories than others, but each story gave me topics to think about and to reflect on my own thoughts, feelings and experiences, as well as what my story is. I will definitely be sharing this book with my own “kitchen table” family.
