This is a timely read with all that is going on in the world, and it will leave you feeling encouraged and emboldened to stand firm in your faith and speak God’s truth.

Jack Hibbs has an amazing way of explaining and incorporating Scripture in a clear, easy-to-understand way. He provides uplifting guidance to help Christians represent Christ courageously, live out faith confidently, and engage in an increasingly secular world. He leaves you, as the reader, feeling uplifted and strengthened to stand strong in your faith and share confidently, without fear, even in the midst of persecution.

This book left me motivated to continue sharing my faith boldly in everyday life and here on Bookstagram, and I think it will for you, too. ❤️

I highly recommend this book, and checking out Jack’s other books and sermons on YouTube!

This was an interesting book. I heard about it from Frank Turek while he was speaking with Jack Hibbs on his podcast. It was an interesting discussion concerning the use of every moment we have while on this earth. We are all called to a specific ministry...each and every one of us. IF we accept salvations as the gift of God that it is, THEN we are ministers conferred to a ministry all our own. Because each and every one of us have a specific talent that God desires us to use for His glory. This book is a guide, of sort, to lead you to better understand the things we are called to do and how to do them. Definitely worth the time to read and possibly use as a study guide for a group.

Great book, very biblically based. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it really goes all over the place. It’s like he was trying to cover every sermon he’s ever preached. All good stuff but at times I was like “wait what are we talking about now?”

“Today too much of the professing church resembles America at the start of World War 2- content to look the other way out of fear or apathy or both. When you consider the unwillingness of the church to engage enemies of the gospel inside its walls and outside its gates, the comparison is striking… I think we need to be reminded of Roosevelt’s words of warning regarding the futility of hiding because when fear disables action, there will be consequences. Like it or not, war has come to our doorstep.”

This book is one of those reads that is so timely in its message. Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk many Christians are waking up from a malaise of complacency to a renewed boldness in proclaiming the truth of God’s Word. Hibbs will convict and encourage you with the Word of God. Though I don’t completely agree with his eschatology, I found this book to be such an inspiration for the present time.

Christian, ask yourself the following question, Am I leading a mediocre Christian life or am I completely sold out for the work of Jesus? Now is the moment to take a bold stand for Christ!

Thank you, @harvesthousepublishers for a complimentary copy of this book! All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This book made me feel so encouraged and so motivated to use every moment I have to be the strongest witness for Christ that I can be. We never know when the end will come, and we shouldn’t waste a moment. Everything in this book was biblically backed up and accurate. I will be recommending this to people and will absolutely be making every effort to do more to help lead people to God and salvation while I have the chance.

Jack Hibbs, known for his ministry at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills and his radio program Real Life, delivers a sharp and uncompromising challenge to contemporary Christians in Called to Take a Bold Stand: Resilient and Effective Faith for a Godless Age. Rather than offering a gentle guide to spiritual growth, Hibbs presents a potent call to spiritual arms, urging believers to move past cultural complacency and actively engage in what he views as a critical defense of biblical truth.
The book is structured around a clear and urgent premise: that modern Western society has decisively drifted into a "godless age," making traditional Christian passivity untenable. Hibbs spends significant time diagnosing current cultural and political trends—from the erosion of traditional family values to the secularization of public life—which he frames not as mere social shifts, but as direct spiritual attacks. For readers already convinced of this cultural crisis, Hibbs's firm, prophetic voice provides validation and moral clarity. His prose is direct, often provocative, and leaves little room for nuance or compromise, which is precisely the book's appeal to its core audience.
The true focus, however, lies in the "Resilient and Effective Faith" section. Hibbs draws heavily on Old and New Testament examples—figures who faced hostile powers and were called to be uncompromising—to establish a blueprint for modern resilience. He emphasizes that taking a "bold stand" is not about political activism alone, but about personal spiritual rigor: maintaining consistent prayer, deep scriptural study, and intentional, godly living. He argues that genuine effectiveness in the public square flows directly from uncompromising faithfulness in the private sphere. This focus on personal sanctification as the foundation for cultural engagement is one of the book’s strongest points, grounding the activist impulse in traditional Christian discipline.
The book will not be universally embraced. Its decisive and confrontational tone is a deliberate feature, not a bug, for those seeking conviction. However, readers looking for measured dialogue, interfaith bridges, or a nuanced analysis of societal complexities may find Hibbs’s rhetoric too polarizing. He is addressing a specific audience—those who feel their faith is under siege and need encouragement to hold the line—and to them, he speaks with unmistakable authority. Called to Take a Bold Stand is, ultimately, a strategic manual for conservative Christians, empowering them to face an intimidating world with biblical fortitude. It is recommended for believers seeking a forceful argument for unapologetic public faith and a practical strategy for personal resilience in challenging times.
Final Verdict: An urgent and authoritative call for Christians to adopt an uncompromising, proactive stance on biblical issues within contemporary culture.

Excellent book for today's Christians

This book has helped me to grow in my faith, Love the Lord more, and encouraged me to live out my faith with more boldness. I was sad to reach the end, but in reality, it is the beginning. The beginning to live out my faith with boldness and not be fearful! We had a speaker at our church that shared an experience where, in Iran, he and his friend, were compelled to share the gospel with the Muslims there. The man he was with, lost his wife to an Islamic attack, killing her. He was the one who suggested they share the gospel with these people. Our speaker asked his friend, aren't you afraid? They were going into a mosque. The friend answered. They are headed for hell, but we are immortal. If they kill us, we will be in heaven with Jesus. As I read this book, being bold is what every Christian needs to be, and this speaker's story showed me just that! To die for Christ is our gain. Thankfully, taking a bold stand isn't always a death sentence, but it could mean losing friends, a job or a promotion or whatever. I highly recommend this book along with Pastor Jack's workbook. It makes you think and apply what you learn. I hope he writes more books! I love listening to his podcasts and sermons!!! A true man of God!

Encouraging and convicting. I need to go back over my highlights to get a better idea overall, but there were only a few places I questioned the truth (one was a comment about how all Bible believing Christians believe a certain thing about end times, but I haven’t found that to be true! Another was a comment about experimental aircraft in which he is mistaken - they’re not untested and unsafe!), and I found it to be truthful and poignant.

A call to be active in your walk with Christ

I am always inspired by Pastor Hibbs. This is second book of his I have read. We need more Men of God like him those who preach the bible and aren't afraid to tell us all we are sinners and our only way to paradise is through Christ who gave the greatest sacrifice.

There are a lot of spiritual truths in this text. But they are buried in the random discourse. I had high hopes for this text but it was such a drudge to complete it.

Long and repetitive at times, but some solid truths and lots of Scripture references. Can't say I agreed with every specific thing he said. Did seem like he had an agenda at times.
