First I want to thank Harvest House publishers for my copy of the book.
I would change my star rating to a 3.5 if I could.
I agree with much of the book. I too am a Premillennial believer. I agreed with many of his conclusions and he even gave me options that I had not previously considered.
Here are my problems:
1. You the reader must act like a Berean and check what he says against Scripture.
2. There are some instances where he puts forth questionable answers to the issues that arise in Revelation. The fact is we don't always have the answers and we can't be sure of certain things.
3. He has a habit of stretching parallels with the Old Testament when it would have been easier to address the historical significance of John being in the first century. White stones were used in courts and given to those who were acquitted, or found innocent. Probably a better interpretation than going all the way back to the Urim and Thummim since he also postulates how those stones were used to determine answers to God's will. The Bible never specifically states how the stones showed God's will to the priests. (On a positive note he often offers options to how a passage could be interpreted and then concludes with his own view. I don't always agree with his view but he offers the different views so you can investigate yourself and so that he can string his view of Revelation together for you in the single book. Well done)
4. He sometimes can't decide if something is literal or allegorical. Why can't the river of blood be 240 miles long? This is just one instance. There are a few other instances where he takes an emphatic view, historical or allegorical without explaining why.

Other than those four issues I enjoyed the book so much I read it in one sitting. The study questions and other end of chapter material would make this a good Bible study for a group.
While I don't agree with everything I don't think we should throw the baby out with the bath water. He has written a very engaging and explanatory book that treats Revelation in the right frame of mind.
I don't always agree with him but nothing is heresy. I would definitely read more of his writing.
