I absolutely loved this book, it was really entertaining with lots of different monsters/demons, with all their own unique abilities, looks and personalities. I adored how Lorelei found her mates, even if some were more difficult than others, they were so wonderful protective of her. The story had a great pace, kept me engaged throughout, with some great highs, lows, funny moments and tough times, it was all just brilliant.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lorelei was eighteen when she had tarot cards read, and they said that she’d have four mates. If she doesn’t find her mates by her twenty-first birthday, she will fall pray to a curse and fall asleep for a hundred years! Since then she’s been traveling from university to university, staying until an intense urge to move pushes her on. It’s a dangerous world out there as her scent sends monsters insane with lüst, causing a few close calls. With her own homemade scent blocker that masks what she is, she continues on, until she walks into one classroom and then everything changes!
Phenex is a history professor, he never expected to ever find his mate or an omega, especially as they all died off from a plague 700 years ago. However his senses and her alluring scent can’t be denied, she’s his, even if his mind needs a few days to accept this fact. But once in, he will stop at nothing to love, protect and cherish her.
Samael is a professor and assistant dean, he’s also best friends with Phenex. He’s a fear demon who can dematerialise at will, so has been stalking her delicious scent, feeding off her fear. But when he realises who she is to him, wow does he go fully in, protecting her fiercely at all costs. He falls deeply and fast. Together he & Phenex support Lorelei when finding her other mates.
Alecto is a professor but also a silent partner of the club Lorelei is working at. He lost his omega wife 800 years ago and then lost his whole family for one reason or another. It nearly broke him, so now he has a list he needs to complete before ending his days, that is until he comes across Lorelei. He finds her extremely alluring and intriguing but can’t figure out why, however once he gets a true scent of her, he realises who she is to him. He struggles so much with this because he’s scared of going through loosing a mate all over again, she’s human after all not immortal! Despite this he can’t resist her and joins the pack, working to protect and love her.
Bast is a professor of drama and theatre. He is stuck in the same dorm as Lorelei, her scent is addictive and becomes obsessed with her, even though he hasn’t seen her yet. He’s extremely brash, rude and overbearing. Bast pushes and twist Lorelei for his own obsessive amusement. After one particular argument Lorelei is viciously attacked by another, so Samael decides to teach Bast a lesson by changing his reality. For 24 hrs he has to live a constant dream like nightmare of Lorelei dying. This completely changes his behaviour and his whole demeanour towards her.
They go through a lot of the book finding their way with each other and growing their relationships, not only with Lorelei but each other as a growing pack. They also navigating the monster/human world whilst protecting Lorelei’s true nature. However there is still the threat of her 21st birthday and the curse looming closer. There is also someone out there working to ensure Omegas stay extinct!!
*Reverse Harem *Monster Omegaverse *Multi-PoV *Monsters *Prophecy *Sleeping Beauty *Fairytale Retelling *Fated Mates *Building Harem (4) *Mid Burn *Standalone Demons, deathly sleep, and dirty engagements 😆 This was an intriguing story as our FMC is the last living omega and she’s on a fight for survival. A fortune telling at her 18th birthday leads to a whole host of problems, namely a timeline on her life 😳 and the need to find her scent matches! Her final stop at college leads her to Phenes, Samael, Alecto and Bast - it was good to a difference in how each of these demons react to her and what she means to them 😍 they have their own issues to contend with but all share that innate possessiveness over their mate! What I like about this story was that it was leading up to it all going right, and then it went oh so wrong!😑 I mean they still got their HEA but there was definitely some issues along the way with trying to keep this unique FMC from achieving the ‘prophecy’! A strong standalone.
Beauty's monstrous Demons by Jenn Bullard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶🌶💀💀💀 Jenn mixed monsterspice with omegaverse to create a new obsession. Monster omegaverse. Its addictive and blessed with interesting appendages. A monstrous retelling of sleep beauty. Lorelei Rose had a 'yes' moment and entered a fortune tellers tent at a carnival on her 18th birthday. However the future us was given was nothing she could ever imagine. The change that turned her body against her set her on a path to a Monster University. Where she found her mates, and became the last or first omega in eight hundred years. The shock of her existence sends her mates in to a tailspin of overprotectiveness, possessiveness, denial and disbelief. Phenex, grumpy history professor is thrown of kilter when he spots Lorelei in his class. Fear demon, sweetheart, Samael, scares her in a lift and becomes addicted. Bast, theatre teacher, boorish behavior leads to obsession and Alecto, melancholy as he lost it all before, is in absolute denial. But fate has intervene. Will they save Lorelei from her curse before her 21st birthday or not? Trope: Monstersmut. Dub con. Non con. Virgin. Fated mates. Cursed. Fairytale retelling. Demons. Forced Proximity. Secret omega. Nice only to her. Touch-her-you-d!e. Possessive. Obsessive. Stalking. Primal. Fear demon. Qoutes: “You’re acting very cagey,” I observe. “Maybe. Just because you smell like you’re mine doesn’t mean I can trust you,” she says, shrugging. “It should mean that,” I say, miffed. “I have absolutely no agenda and very few allegiances to others. I don’t need sleep, I don’t eat.”“Are you trying to tell me you’re housebroken?” she teases.
“I’ve heard you shouldn’t offer a girl oral that you just met, but it’s also all I’ve been thinking about. I’m probably not a good frame of reference,” I say.
“I’m sorry I was an asshole,” I say against her lips. “I’ll try to be better for you. That doesn’t mean I won’t still stumble.”“If I try to catch you, you’ll squish me,” she teases me.
This is now the 2nd book in the series that I have read and I absolutely love this author retelling. This author is one of the favorites when it comes to Retelling. And I will have to finish all the books this year.
This one is about Lorelei and she needs to find her soulmate before her twenty-first birthday or will fall pray to a curse and fall asleep for a hundred years. Which did I tell you she has no idea who they are and has been trying to hide her smell her whole life to protect herself, so it will be harder to find.
She does tho start going to a monster school and notices a few men being attracted to her but are they her soulmate. It is a dangerous world out there for her with all these monster coming left and right. She might get hurt before finding her soulmate.
This one has so many twists and turns and keeps you on your toes the whole time. I just loved it. I love the way the author wrote her stories and is so detailed. Yes there is a lot of spicy in these books but also the plot is thick too. You really get both worlds.
Even tho Lorelei has more than 1 soulmate you really have all these relationships in one book. You learn about them all. Work, how they feel, a little of their back life. If they have fallen in love before and what happened. Which I really love about this book. Not just starting off when they meet. They all share there own time with her, cooking and taking care of her. And respect there relationship with her.
That's why I am saying I need to read all of them, they are all stand alone and who don't love a good Disney Retelling.
Lorelei is a college student with a secret. She's changed into something that has long been thought extinct. An omega. With that come certain quirks that leave her unable to really get close to anyone.
She's been searching for her mates for several years and now she's found them. 2 monsters that are immediately enamored by her. 2 other monsters that are intensely attracted to her but are resistant to the mate bond. What happens when it becomes apparent that not everyone is happy there's an omega in their midst?
Lorelei is my favorite type of fmc. Competent, hard working, and won't take any crap from her mates. All of her mates had some stalker tendencies. Samael had to be the worst of the bunch when it came to that. Bast was a whole other type of messed up. That one totally deserved getting tormented. I could understand Alecto's unhappiness with finding out Lorelei was meant to be his. He definitely didn't handle it well at first. Phenex was the first to fall, and he was quick to realize exactly what she was.
This book took me by surprise. I was not expecting to finish it this quickly. It hooked me from the very first chapter. I just couldn't put it down. I had to know how Lorelei's story would end. It has become my new favorite book by Jenn Bullard. I need her to write more monster romance.
SOOOO GOOD. I devoured this book. From the beginning it had me hooked. Lorelei was an easy character to love. She was smart, a hard worker, independent and wasn't afraid to stand up for herself.
The guyssssss omg. I need them so bad. I loved them. They were so protective of her. They got close to her pretty fast (most of them). It was like lt eas hard for them to stay away. They always wanted to be near her or be touching her in some way. I loved the way they took her of care. Made sure she was safe, always ate, didn't burn herself out with work and school.
She had good chemistry with all of them. She had one on one time with them as well as group activities which I thing definitely helped make that connection stronger. I think bc of the size difference and all the special body parts some spicy scenes had me confused when it came to the position😭😭.
This is probably the only book that it didn't bother me how often her being small was mentioned. If I'm five feet and every monster around me is basically 7 feet + I'm definitely gonna complain about how tiny i am 😭😭😭
Really enjoyed this one. Anything this author writes is amazing and I know I'm in for a good time.
I swear I only clicked it just to check out the pages. Jenn likes to write thicck books. And then I ended up reading the prologue. Then I finished the prologue so I moved onto chapter 1. Then I finished that and next thing you know I'm consumed by it and I could not stop reading it. Hence the reason why I'm writing this review early in the morning when I should be sleeping. Actually I should be getting ready for work because daylight savings is a B and won't let me sleep. Anyways, this story is about Lorelai, who has just transferred to her fourth university, I think? And she was told by a card reader at some random fair that she has scent matches and she needs to find them so it becomes a quest, an adventure for her. So when she lands at this university that educates both humans and monsters, she knows she's in for quite an adventure. And in this university she meets 4 professors. They're all monsters and they're all devilishly hot. Phenex, Samael, Bast and Alecto are professors at the university and they're all quite taken with her. But there's definitely some resistance from one of them. I won't say who. I'm not spoiling the rest of this. Read this. It's amazing!
I absolutely loved this omegaverse monster retelling. I mean what can I say expect that it blew me away. I really loved Jenn Bullard’s writing and this one hit the spot! It was such a good book.
I really loved the FMC and how spunky she was. I loved especially how the MMCs reacted to the FMC at times it made me smile and giggle in certain times. This book had me caught hook line and sinker.
Overall I absolutely loved this monster omegaverse book. I couldn’t get enough of these characters and wish I could have so much more! I absolutely loved! Highly recommend if you love omegaverse and monsters!
This was so good!!! Lorelai is just the kind of FMC that you want to have. I love a strong woman. The men weren’t so bad either. I loved the entire dynamic & I need more books like this asap plzzz and thank you 🫶🏻
This was my first book by Jenn and I really enjoyed it❣️
Lorelai is a foster child and ages out when she turns eighteen. On her way out of town, she attends a state fair and goes to have her fortune told. The fortune teller predicts some things which come true. She is now on the hunt for her scent matches and she keeps moving every few months to a different University. She finally stops at one where she makes some wonderful and monstrous connections😍
This story took me on an adventure which I enjoyed and exposed me to different type of monsters👹 A must read addition to this multi author series. I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review🙌
DNF - 70% I put this book away after reading 3/4 of it. The previous book in the series compared to this one made it seem lackluster. I have never read anything from this author before but it felt very juvenile. I did not connect with the characters and I realized I just wasn’t enjoying it and moved onto something else
She was eighteen when she had her tarot cards read, and what they said shocked her. They said that she'd have four mates.
Her scent blockers protect everyone else from knowing what she is. But, as she walks into one of her classes, she's hit with the most delectable smell, peaches.
She has till her twenty-first birthday to find her four mates. Failure will cause her to fall pray to a curse that will cause her to fall into a deep sleep for a hundred years.
Even if they could all be monsters, I have to find them all to stop the curse.

This isn't Jenn's normal dark romance. But YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!!! Read the trigger warnings before reading this book.
I am a huge fan of Jenn Bullard. And this book was absolutely stunning and so very, very entertaining with a lot of different monsters and demons, and they each have their own unique abilities, looks, and personalities.
I love how Lorelei found each of her mates, even if some of them were harder to find. They are all so wonderful, and oh, they are so protective of her, and I loved that. The pacing was perfect and keeps you engaged throughout the entire book with highs, lows, funny moments, and even tough times all at the right times. Jenn was just brilliant in writing this book.
Lorelei had her tarot cards read when she was eighteen. They said that she was going to have four mates. And what more if she didn't find them by her twenty-first birthday, she would fall pray to a curse. One that would cause her to fall asleep for a hundred years.
Since that day, Lorelei has been traveling from university to university. She would only stay until she got the burning desire to leave and move on. She knows that for her, the world is a dangerous place. Her scent sends monsters insane with lust, and she has had more than one close call.
She is finally able to make her own scent blocker that helps her to mask what she is, and she keeps going on, that is, until one day she walks into a classroom and suddenly everything changes for her.
Phenex was happy living his life as a history professor. He never really thought he would ever find his mate, let alone an omega, especially since they were all supposed to have died off 700 years ago from a plague. But, it can't be denied. His senses and her alluring scent can't deny the truth, even though his mind needs a couple of days to catch up with his new reality. Once he's in, there's nothing he will not do, nothing that will stop him to protect the one he loves and cherishes.
Samael is Phenex's best friend, a professor, and the assistant dean. Samael is a fear demon who has the ability to dematerialize at will. He's actually been stalking her delicious scent since he first caught a scent of it, feeding off her fear. But, as soon as he realizes who she is to him, he does a full 180, and he is suddenly full in, protecting her with all he is, no matter the cost. And boy, does he fall fast. And with Phenex by his side, they not only protect Lorelei, they support her in finding her other two mates.
Alecto is not only a professor, but he is also a silent partner of the club that Lorelei is working at. 800 years ago, he lost his omega wife in the plague and then his entire family for one reason or another. It had almost killed him. Now he has this list of needs that he has to complete before he actually ends his days, till the day he comes across Lorelei. He knows right away that she is intriguing and very alluring, and he can't figure out why. Then he gets a wiff of her scent, and it hits him who she is to him. It scares him, and he struggles with the reality. He doesn't want to go through losing his mate again. He couldn't survive it again, and she was human, not an immortal. But, despite all his arguments, he just can't resist her, and he joins the pack, and he works with Samael and Phenex to love, honor, and protect Lorelei.
Bast is the professor of drama and theatre. He shares the same dorm as Lorelei, her scent calls to him, and he is quickly obsessed with her, even though he doesn't know who she is and they have never met. I personally found Bast to be rather brash, rude, and a bit overbearing. He pushes and pulls Lorelei for his own obsessive amusement. They had one argument, and Lorelei is attacked by another and Samael steps in and teaches Bast a lesson and changes his reality. Bast for 24 hours has to live in a constant dream like a nightmare where Lorelei dies. In this 24 hours, Bast changes his behavior completely.
To get to get each other, to find each other, they each go through a lot and they grow, change and evolve. As individuals and as a group and as their relationship with Lorelei grows and their relationship with each other grows, you can see how they come together and form not only a pack but a family. You can see how they navigate the monster/human world divide while they protect Lorelei's real nature and protect her as the last Omega.
However, Lorelei's 21st birthday still looms on the horizon, and the curse is getting ever closer, and everyone is waiting with baited breath, wondering if they have managed to avert the curse or not And all the while, there is another person out there, someone who is bound and determined to make sure that the Omega's stay extinct!
They say the best is always saved for last, and while I sincerely loved every single book in this series, that phrase holds true for this story 150% and then some. I find that I am lacking the words to aptly describe my love for this story but am going to try to do so anyway.
What I sincerely loved about this book was how different it was from the others in the series and yet, despite it's differences, it fit so perfectly within the created world. I loved that Lorelei didn't find all of her scent matches at the same time, they were all found at varying stages of discovering who she truly was and yet, as each new scent match was revealed, it seems as if they were revealed in a moment when she needed some aspect (personality wise) of them the most. I also really loved that she didn't realize what she was from the beginning. She had all these feelings that are associated with an omega and yet, with believing she is a human, couldn't quite explain them but never shied away from them either. She headed the words from the fortune teller and allowed herself to believe that what was being said was true instead of wiping her hands of the tale.
I also really loved that not all of the guys were shall we say, perfect gentleman in the beginning as they were beginning to understand what Lorelei was to them. Their emotions towards her ranged from anger to becoming somewhat violent (never in a way that would hurt her) and it was really fun to see them come to grips with something that they had been told had been eradicated so long ago standing right in front of them. Throw in the chemistry between each of them and Lorelei as the story went on and you get yourself one super spicy retelling of Sleeping Beauty.
Despite the fact that there is tension, both in terms of emotions and chemistry between Lorelei and her 4 men, there was also a fantastic substory that drifted just in the back of the readers mind as the story progresses until the very last moment when everything blows up beautifully. For a while, I truly believed that Lorelei would not get her happily every after and there were moments where I did not think the person responsible would ever be found and made to pay for their crimes. All in all, great way to end this world of reads, which I am sad to see now over but so glad it ended with the best story possible!
This book was fucking amazing, I just couldn't get enough of this omegaverse with a twist. It was unique, Intriguing, and very interesting. Once I started I couldn't stop I was hooked from start to finish. I needed to know more about this strong and beautiful omega. It's a crazy rollercoaster that had twists and turns, that left me sitting on the edge of my seat most of the time. It's action packed with loads, and they all go through so much as individuals, with each other and as a new pack navigating all the newness and the shit the world is throwing at them. It's dark, spicy as hell and fucking finger licking delicious. I really took to the characters Lorelei, phenex, Alecto, bast and Samuel. The storyline and plot was phenomenally written. I really want Jenn to write more of these stories.
When Lorelei was eighteen she has her tarot cards read, she's destined for four mates and she's really special aswell. But there is also a curse that she can fall pray to that will make her sleep for 100 years. Is she destined to sleep or will she be free to love her monster mates. Grab the book and find out. Highly recommend.

Lorelei is used to being on her own, and no fortune teller's prophecy is going to change her life. After transferring to a monster/human college, she walks into class and is hit with her first scent match. Now, she knows things are never going to be the same. Her professor is a monster and will bend the world to her will. What he doesn't understand is how his mate is an omega after they were all decimated by a plague centuries prior. Lorelei continues collecting college professor scent matches, some more eager than others, until her pack of four alphas is complete. Her guys have more than they bargained for with their fiesty omega mate as a new threat surfaces, and they find themselves fighting against the fortune seller's prophecy.
I'm always down for a fairy tale retelling with a spicy twist, and it doesn't get any better than a paranormal omegaverse version! Lorelei is sassy and fiesty and fiercely independent after a lifetime in foster care. She's been navigating the omega thing on her own for years, but her limited knowledge is put to the test when she faces the four monsters who are destined to tear down every wall. The guys were a mix of totally eager, alittle reluctant, and downright appalled, but they quickly saw the error of their ways and banded together for their girl. I loved the cohesive unit the pack made, especially when it came to helping each other with date nights and romantic gestures. Every character brought something to the table, and it worked out so nicely. Plus, that spice was spicing!
The final book in the Fairytales with A Monstrous Twist series is Jenn Bullard's take on Sleeping Beauty.
Lorelei is a spunky human girl living in a monster's world. I couldn't help myself; that line needed to be said, haha! But in all seriousness, Lorelei is holding her own at what I dubbed "Monster U." She's one of the few humans at the monster college, and not only is she killing it in the intelligence department, but she also claps back when the situation calls for it. Not to mention, she has a great sense of humor and is fiercely independent. I liked her.
If you like a student-teacher dynamic, this is the read for you. Lorelei has four professors in her harem. However, three out of the four guys started off as jerks. The exception was Samuel, and he was my favorite. Of course, I loved the fear demon the best. He was just as charming as he was terrifying. He was also adorable. Two others changed my mind very quickly, while that last one irked me for the longest.
The plot was great. The story is more inspired by than an actual reimagining of the story. The sleeping curse does play a crucial part, but then there are alphas and omegas and mates, and all of it's set in a university. I enjoyed Jenn's take on an OV. It was pretty much everything I expected from an OV but with an unexpected backstory. That's where things get interesting, well, that and the whole monster aspect. The pages flew by; I loved the funny moments, and the twists and turns weren't too bad either. Beauty’s Monstrous Demons was a fantastic mashup and a great read.
Well this is a fun read. I enjoyed it very much. The FMC is an independent strong woman and I loved the entire dynamic with the MMCs. Loved that this book doesn't have a "save the world" vibe (I'm getting kind of tired of those lately). And the story of her every day struggles, with funny conversations, lust, hope, and insecurities of life, brings a down to earth vibe to this alternative universe.
I usually have no issues with monsters vs human relationships in books, i am a big lover of fantasy books, getting lost in other worlds and realities is a huge past time of mine.
But i just had to stop reading and share this with you, i just burst out laughing at this:
"I’m a five foot human with a nine foot tall monster, that alone will make others talk."
please take a moment to visualize an AVARAGE "sword" proportioned to his body size, and just think where he supposedly puts it...
now add another "sword"... because he... is a dual wilder ;)
you did that? good.
now don't forget about the knot.... (and can someone call for an ambulance, cos the MC needs a trip to the ER.)
I'm laughing so hard... She survived that, and enjoyed that... so i have to say that the FMC should really not be a human.... maybe Elastigirl is more appropriate.
I got to give it to the writer... Very entertaining book. LMAO.

‼️⚠️ Ok this is my own personal warning this is not Jenn’s normal dark writing, but if you are interested please check TW’s before reading. We take everyone’s triggers and mental health seriously.‼️⚠️
Ok so I am no stranger to Jenn’s writing and I have no complaints with any of her books. And the same goes for this book as well. I absolutely loved this book, I was hooked from page one all the way to the very end. This book was highly entertaining with lots of different monsters/demons, all with their own unique abilities, looks, personalities, and peens. I absolutely adored how Lorelei found all of her mates, even if some were a little more difficult and different than others, they were all protective of her. The story had a great pace, kept me engaged and interested throughout the entire story, with some great highs and lows, funny moments and tough times, it was all just so brilliantly written. Jenn you knocked this one right out of the park and you totally deserve that home run
I love a good retelling and this story was so good!!! This book was fun and spicy and I really enjoyed it. The characters are epic - seriously I loved them so much.
When Lorelei was eighteen, she had her tarot cards read, and they said she’d have four mates. If she doesn’t find her mates by the time she’s 21 she’ll be cursed with a 100 year sleep….
I loved Lorelei - she is strong and smart and independent and a total spitfire. She grew up in foster care and has been on her own for a while. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself, which leads to some amazing banter.
I loved the chemistry between her the guys. They are such a quirky group, but together they just work!! I liked how she slowly finds out who her scent matches are and builds relationships with each of them. They are all super protective and loving…and so much taller than her!
Phenex is the history professor and well, he’s a little grumpy at first, smells like peaches.
Samael is a fear demon and had me laughing so much. However, He does not mess around with anyone who tries to hurt Lorelei…and he is VERY talented as a shadow 🔥 Smells like fresh rain.
Alecto gives off brooding alpha vibes. He is over 3,000 years old and is very cautious about Lorelei. Smells like caramel toffee.
Bast is the most dramatic, and the Theater Director…who also has a very naughty tail! Smells like chicory.
No spoilers, but there are some tough and emotional moments - I really loved the ending 💚
Okkkaayyyy Jenn with the fairytale retelling thats dark and spicy AF I SEE YOU.
Honestly? Didnt think I’d like anything as much as I liked her Omegaverse romances, but monster romance? With obsessed demons and a FMC thats both adorable and strong and also has nooooo idea what she is? With Omegaverse except shes the first Omega born in hundreds of years and has no idea she IS an Omega? AT A COLLEGE? WITH A STUDENT x TEACHER romance?
YES PLEASE ALL THE YES PLEASE.
This one was soooo great. I absolutely loved it. I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel about a dark-ish monster fairytale retelling but Jenn absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one.
The guys were GREAT. They (most of them) tried to fight it to begin with but honestly her scent and her just in general was tooo much. The Professor x Student forbidden romance where he honesty got to the point where he was like “you’re staying in the faculty living dorms forever now” was the BEST.
And an obsessed demon who goes totally invisible and feeds of fear? Omg he was PERFECTION.
Then theres the music teacher who is LIVING with her and doesn’t even REALIZE he’s living with her.. goes into her dorm room and make sure his.. *ahem* essence is all over her things and well… in her lotion😂
Im telling you this was a great read. It was fun, it was engaging, it was hot AF and I hope Jenn decides to do more of these in the future!
I think this goes down as one of my top reads in the shared world.
This was a unique take on the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's filled with the right amount of intrigue and suspense, interspersed with the romance, a good old prophecy, and the kind of spice that Bullard is so well known for.
I loved that each of the MMCs in this were so unique, both in creature and in personality, and I really loved the backstories that Bullard had created for them.
The overarching story of omegas was really intriguing, too! I definitely would love to know more about this aspect of the world Lorelai and her monsters live in, but I also feel we did get just the right amount of explanation in the book to not only keep us hooked, but to also keep some aspects in the dark still.
I loved the growth of all the characters in this one, and I really enjoyed Bullard's writing style - will definitely be hitting up more of her books after this one!
Thank you to the authors and the Fairytales With a Monstrous Twist team for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
Beauty's Monstrous Demons is part of the Fairy Tales With A Monstrous Twist Series.
Lorelei is a strong individual and has had a bit of a rough go in her life. She is informed she has to find her mates by her twenty first birthday or she will fall into a hundred year slumber. Slowly but surely she meets them. She has a lot of spicy scenes with these mates.
Some of the guys I did not like. Let's just say the mates got worse overtime. Samael and Phenex were my favourites. Even though Samael could be grouchy, he still wasn't overly mean to Lorelei. Phenex was perfect with her. He started out a little odd, but he was always caring with her. Alecto starts off the jerks of the pack. He has his reasons for why he is rude, but still didn't like his actions. I hated Bast. You slightly warm up to him by the end, but he did not deserve her. This is just my personal take on the guys. It did not take away from the story. It made it more interesting.
Lorelei and the guys go through a lot with building their relationship and future together. They really have to solidify their bonds and work together. It was an interesting fairytale twist story.
I loved this book so much. I'm not normally a fan of storybook retellings, but this one was absolute perfection! Though, knowing who the author is, I'm not even surprised.
Lorelei is the FMC, and her guys are Phenex, Samael, Alecto, and Bast. They're different types of demons with different abilities. All 4 are alpha males, and are very protective and possessive of Lorelei. I really wanted to throat p*nch Phenex in the beginning, and Bast for a good portion of the book. We all know Jenn loves to make us hate characters, and then somehow she makes us love them by the end, so it's no surprise that I ended up liking all 4 of the guys. I really like Alecto. I don't know what it is, but there is something about him that made me love him instantly. Samael is my absolute favorite. He's funny and sweet and I want to steal him for myself. Also, I have a new fantasy that I never would have thought of myself. I don't want to ruin it, but let's just say it involves being in an elevator.
This is another great story from Jenn that had me hooked from the beginning and kept me entertained the whole time. There's humor, mystery, and some hot smexy times. Now to find my very own Samael.
It all starts with a creepy fortune and a promise of possible death. That's so much fun right? Lorelai does not agree. Orphaned and in the system since she was young, she now must face a major change at 18 and a new mission. Find her scent matches by the time she turns 21 or spend 100 years sleeping...which for a human means life over. She moves to new colleges when her body tells her it's time until school 4 when she finally meets her monsters. All four are old, powerful, and can't be any different. But they all come together to fight against time and monsters that don't want Lorelai and what she is to come back into existence again. Samael, Bast, Alecto, and Phenex are fierce in their own rights, but when they have their girl to protect? Don't get in their way.I love that each monster is different not only in what kind of demon they are, but how they show their love and care for her, even if a few of them have some groveling to do after their initial meetings. Samael is my favorite type of stalker and I love that he's all in from the second he scents her. He's my personal favorite.
Lorelei has just aged out of her foster home and is driving her car with all of her things to college. But, there’s a carnival in town and she wants to treat herself to a fun night. She’s determined to have a yes night. Farris wheel? Yes. Corn dog? Yes, please. As she’s leaving, she notices a tarot reading tent. Should she stop for a reading? Will it be fake or will she learn anything about her past or future? Or should she just get in her car and go?
This was a fun story. I liked how there was a twist of having monsters and humans co-existing in life. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me coming back for more of the story. I really enjoyed all of the characters and everything that they go through makes it so relatable that you can easily forget that some of them are monsters and not human. This story did not disappoint and I enjoyed every bit of it.
This was an unusual spin on the sleeping beauty fairytale and it kept me engaged throughout. I really liked how the alphas were each brought in gradually rather than jumping into insta-love with Lorelei. The connection is there but you still feel that they have a choice on how and when to act on their attraction rather than being completely led by instinct. I would have loved just a little more character development (particularly from Alecto who had a backstory I wanted to know so much more about and towards the end I found him and Phenex a little interchangeable) and the villains as the twist on the curse was really interesting. The epilogue was cute too!
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
I have some mixed feelings about this book, but let’s start with the things I enjoyed:
✅ Fairytale retelling ✅ Independent FMC ✅ Fantasy setting ✅ Mystery to be solved ✅ Why choose, where all mates accepted each other
Things I struggled with:
☑️ Switching between POV’s within the same chapter (one of my pet peeves) ☑️ How they all met (none of the MMC’s were particularly nice to her but she still almost immediately accepted them) ☑️ Weird time jumps between chapters. Something momentous would be about to happen and then the next sentence would say, “it’s now four months later…” and I was left hanging like…”but, what?” ☑️ How the whole ‘sleeping beauty” thing was resolved. Wtf was that? ☑️ Some things we were just expected to know without any explanation (like, I’m still not sure what a “community cock” is supposed to be?)
This was a relatively quick read, but I don’t think I would read anything else by this author.
