THE ICONIC BRITISH SERIES THAT HAS REDEFINED A GENRE AND BECOME FAR MORE THAN A ZOMBIE STORY.
This is a tale of loyalty, friendship, and the sacrifices we make for love. The Undead is a gripping, and often laugh-out-loud exploration of how far we’ll go to protect those we care about.

Nettlewick. A sleepy village nestled in the southern English countryside. As featured in The Undead 24, when Blowers and Carmen had to deliver fruit. Now we go back, but this time, we're meeting Stella. An obese young woman who never speaks. But there is far more to Stella than meets the eye...

"My name is Howie. I was named after my father, Howard, but having two Howards was confusing, so I became Howie. I am a supermarket night manager. This is my account." When a deadly infection spreads across Europe, supermarket manager Howie’s ordinary life is thrown into chaos. As the world crumbles around him, he teams up with his autistic best mate, Dave and a ragtag group of misfits to face an enemy unlike any other—the undead. But this isn’t just any infection. It evolves. It learns. And it’s getting smarter every day. Howie soon learns that nothing is quite what it seems - and neither is he.

With fast-paced, blistering action, The Undead series follows Howie and Dave and their unlikely friends as they become the only hope for humanity pitted in a race against time to stop the infection before it becomes clevererer than them. Which honestly wouldn't be that hard.

The Undead has grown to become an iconic British series, redefining zombie horror with rich, unparalleled characterisation—seldom seen outside of literary fiction. But The Undead becomes far more than a zombie story. This is a tale of loyalty and friendship, of how we bond and how far we will go for the people we love. Its catchphrases have become part of everyday language for its readers, and its razor-sharp humour reflects the stupidity and greed of humanity, while still offering hope that we can rise above and do the right thing.

Revenge is a dish best served hot in this book (along with egg fried rice and particular special ingredient 😂).

I liked Stella. She was constantly bullied growing up and felt like she never belonged to the pre-zombie world but after the apocalypse, she suddenly had a purpose and was needed by the villagers.

The pacing was good but it was a little frustrating when characters would repeat themselves when speaking. It did give the impression of older people in a small, cut off village where everyone knows everyone though so I guess it worked well.

I didn't predict the plot twist towards the end. I liked how the prologue was actually used again as the ending but with a few new details which made more sense.

I love The Undead world created by R.R. Haywood and I can't wait for the next book to be released

Short and Sweet

Curled up listening to the rain as I read this lil novella, lost in Stella and Uncle Alan's world.
As I read the last word I found myself wanting to read more, to know what happened next and smiled as I closed down my kindle.
We definitely need to hear more about Stella in the Undead series.
Well done Boss! Great story ❤️

Stella was a great little story from the world of The Undead. It’s the perfect thing to scratch that itch while we wait for the Boss to release the next main book (which has been confirmed as sometime in 2026! 🙌)

The story moved along really nicely, and the twist at the end totally caught me by surprise. I look forward to reading the rest of the short stories.
