"In the center of the chamber lay something far more disturbing, a pile of bones, human remains strewn carelessly across the floor, as though discarded by some malevolent force. 'These are fresh.' "

This is book 3 of the series. It might be better to read the series in order to understand all the characters. It's still a fantastic story by itself.

Such a thoroughly engrossing story. Kev Freeman has done a brilliant job combining these classic characters. You don't even have to be a fan of the original stories to enjoy this book.

I only wish there was more at times. It felt at times there was all this build up and not enough meat at the end to satisfy. Still, I'm very glad to have read this book and look forward to reading more from this series.

Thank you to Goodreads and Kev Freeman for providing me a copy of this book for an honest review.

Disclaimer: I received this book in return for a review.

This book is apparently one in a series. There appear to be two preceding books, and obviously will be at least one to follow. The story begins with Sherlock, Watson and friends in a catacomb. Then they're in London for some reason. They make plans to go to Budapest, and the bulk of the story occurs while on the Orient Express from Paris to Budapest. Then they're chasing Dracula, without actually ever seeing him and encounter some of his minions. Overall, a rather disjointed story, without a real ending, which let me cold. It's not something I would recommend to anyone over the age of maybe 15, and I personally hate the trend of writing incomplete books that require additional purchases to find out the whole story.

If I was told this book was submitted for an AP writing contest, I would give it more grace. The plotline, Sherlock Holmes and Watson chasing Dracula across the countryside, was 2 dimensional and could not hold my attention for more than a few minutes. Sherlock came off as condescending and self-involved. Dracula only shows his face for a select few moments. The book ends before they confront him. I will NOT be continuing the story with the second book.
