India is not just a nation of Gods and Goddesses but also of ghosts and evil spirits. We believe in them very strongly. These real life paranormal and ghost stories from India are not intended to scare anyone but to narrate a set of events that have occurred in real life and ponder upon why certain things happen without any logical explanation. They are supposed to be a collection of events that have occurred in real life therefore please expect some stories to end on a bad note and without any reasoning or logical explanation. These paranormal and ghost stories are my own personal stories and some of them have been told to me by others which I believe to be true. The stories of the Introduction (This is an introduction to the types of ghosts in India) My Great Grandfather And The Churail My Out Of Body Experience The Haunting In The Mirror Death Pact With God Ghost Near The Bedside Possession By A Dead Man’s Spirit Ghost In The Toilet
An absolute guilty pleasure. It’s a compilation of some of the popular paranormal stories of India with a personal touch. Can be spooky if you read it at night.
Childish stories. These are around half-a-dozen horror incidents (don't call these stories) experienced by author or somebody from her kin. The language used is very fluid and all could be completed in max 2 hrs. I would refer it as a timepass read.
"India is not just the land of gods & godesses but also of superstitions, ghosts & of paranormal happenings."
REAL GHOST AND PARANORMAL STORIES FROM INDIA by Shalu Sharma, speaks about some paranormal experiences of the author and some of her near and dear ones. She says that she have no reason to believe that those who told her these stories lied to her. She aslo says that it is up to us if we want to believe it or not! Fair enough, right?
The author introduces us to the types of ghosts that is believed to exist in india. Reading further, I was surprised to find the wide varieties of ghost names, 🔸Bhoot 🔸Pretni 🔸Chudail 🔸Dayans 🔸Shakini 🔸Rakshasa 🔸Mohini 🔸Preta 🔸Jinn
She takes us through 8 ghost Stories which has either happened to her or her near and dear ones. Each one of them are linked with the types of people living in that place and the beliefs they share. They pass on the beliefs to younger ones or far away ones or different people arriving there, giving them a part of their beliefs and stories. India is a land of great diversity and that diversity is in its stories and "ghosts" too. A good book to read if you are interested in horror stories, since I've read and watched many ghost stories and movies, this is was not so scary to me. But it is interesting because it is said to be real experiences of some people.
A Spine-Chilling Dive into Real-Life Paranormal Encounters
I’m not usually a fan of the paranormal or horror genres, but this book turned out to be quite intriguing.
It’s a collection of seven stories that the author claims are drawn from real-life experiences—either her own or those of people around her. Each story recounts alleged paranormal incidents, adding an eerie authenticity to the narrative.
My favorite among them was Ghost Near the Bedside. It gave me chills and left me with an unsettling sensation, almost as if something was lingering near my own bedside.
That said, I enjoyed all six of the other stories as well.
Overall, this was an engaging read, and it might just inspire me to explore more books in this genre!
A Short read. The writer has compiled the Indian spooky tales similar to the ones which we all have heard at times. The writer has tried to make people genuinely believe in the spooky stuff, citing personal examples. Some of the stories like "Out of Body Experience" seem totally like a dream experienced by the author.
I like really nice stuff real ghost paranormal stories from Indian
I greatly reading the article about stories that is ghost story about religion ghost in almost supernatural world where people have a strong belief system that is Muslim and Hindu but includes religion is real science fiction which is characterized by the same religion that is Christian religion which was the first book about religion stories that is Jewish religion connected with hindsight religion many times before the before is real science story about history is India is Asia religion in the world’s religion.
The book is like a journal put together as a collection of stories. It includes seven short stories, actually accounts of ghostly encounters. If you don't have anything else to read, you can read these stories on a casual evening.
You can finish the entire book within an hour, maybe a half.
Are the stories scary? Yes, if you're a 12 yo who is alone in the room, reading the book at night.
For adults, these would feel like fantasy, straight out of Bollywood movies.
It is a good and scary read when I think that these incidents have actually happened in real. I loved the book. Looking forward to reading more from the author. I haven't experienced any paranormal in my life but I do believe in God and if you believe in God you have to believe in ghost too
This is such a horrible book that I wish Goodreads had a negative Starring system for me to give them a negative 5.
The book starts with paragraph long descriptions of some of the common terms for ghosts and paranormal beings in hindi lore- such as dayan, churail, etc. And then, in the stories, the same beings are again described, wasting pages.
It sucks! Though, I finished, but I really detested. The author is already sure that ghosts exist, she doesn't wanna look for logic, she just want to strengthen her belief. Such people promotes superstitions.
Some of the stories are believable but not scary. But l liked the way the story was told. I like to read ghost stories from India because I am an Indian.
The narration was straightforward - just stating the experiences, one after another. Differences between different spirit forms at the beginning of the book were interesting.
I really enjoyed this collection of stories from Shalu Sharma. The stories are interesting and yes scary especially when told in her interesting writing style. They tell of real life experiences with the paranormal. It doesn't feel like Shalu Sharma is trying to scare you as the stories are told maybe that's why you can feel the chill creeping up your back as you read, because these stories happen to people just like you. Excellent job telling these eerie tales. This is a great read.
Half a dozen stories; none were especially scary though some might make decent stories around a campfire or at night with the lights switched off. I don't believe in ghosts and paranormal though I do enjoy ghost stories so I take the author's claim that these are true stories with a pinch of salt. However, the book was decent value for money - I'm unlikely to ever pick up the same book again, but for a quick (<1 hr) one time read, it was quite okay.
