“I don’t need to relax.” His jaw was so tense the words came out garbled. Every muscle in his body screamed with tension.
“Guns, you’re ten seconds away from needing dental surgery. Now, arms up.”
“Diem, if I didn’t think you’d run for the hills, I would use the L word right now.
I wanted to say Please lie down with me. Please push my limits. Please cross all the lines. Don’t let me get away with this. But, tongue-tied as usual, all I managed to croak was, “Stay.”
“You’re safe. I will tear this world apart before I let anyone hurt you. You hear me?
“It’s getting easier to make you laugh. I like it.” I liked it too.
My bubble had been invaded simultaneously by both a dog and a boyfriend. Before I could object to so much contact, Nicholas returned. He did not save me from the dog’s affection, and no one could save me from Tallus’s.
“Aww, babe, are you having feelings again?” “Shut up, Tallus.”
“You make me forget to be miserable.”
