Mia is on track for a full ride scholarship to the college of her dreams. For the past three years, she’s proudly maintained her perfect GPA and her many extracurriculars. Her senior year is in the palm of her hand. That is, until she steps into her English class. To her dismay, she sits directly behind the school hottie, Eli Garcia. And while that would be every other girl’s dream, Mia's been there and done that. Her ex is the last thing she needs on her mind.

Eli’s only desire is to graduate and get out of town. And he has no Plan B. He’s practiced his audition piece for years knowing that it would be his golden ticket into Bravado Conservatory School of Music. Instead, he’s become bemused by the girl with the golden hair.

After being assigned partners for a class project, Mia and Eli remember how they couldn’t be less alike. Eli is calm, cool, and collected and Mia color-coordinates her planner. There isn’t enough room in Mia’s schedule for Eli to be in her life, but he keeps squeezing in anyway. Slowly, a friendship kindles. Now, Mia must decide if she can let go of her perfect plan in exchange for the perfect boy, while Eli battles the idea of staying in a place he hates just to be close to her.

Hi. Hello. How are you? So . . . I'm the author of this book and, as this is my first novel, I'm both overjoyed and terrified to get it into the world. Do I actually think it's a perfect book? Of course not. Do I think that everyone will love it and give it five stars? Of course not. BUT. I am proud of it nonetheless and I do hope that you will give Seas a chance.

Thanks💛

Such a good YA rom-com! Mia and Eli are both relatable and complex, and their growth over the story is dynamic. I love the beach vibes—it takes me back to when I lived in FL—and the romance is absolutely precious. A wonderful read for teens and adults who are looking for a TRUE YA romance!

Thank you, Anna, for this ARC, and congratulations on your amazing book release!
This book was amazing. Something that made this book really stand out for me was how the characters were written. This is a YA book centered around two high school seniors, and they truly felt like high school seniors. Anna was able to capture all the stress of being a senior and the innocence that comes with it. I loved Mia so much! I saw so much of myself in her and her love for planning and preparation. I loved her character development and seeing her open up to others. I appreciated her softness and her big emotions. She was such a refreshing main character. I really loved and connected with her. Totally didn’t cry because I understood her. 🤣 Plus, she was a dancer, which was really cool. All the fun dancer terminology was done impeccably. Eli was so cute!! He had some great character development and backstory. I love how much he cared about the people in his life. He had such a big heart and was so thoughtful in so many ways. I loved seeing Mia and Eli get together! I’m normally not a fan of second-chance romance, but this was done so well and realistically that I loved it! All the side characters were great additions, and I loved Mia’s close friendships and family. They all truly cared for Mia, which was so sweet. There were heavier elements in this book that made it realistic and compelling. The deaf representation was really cool! All the Spanish thrown in was fun, too. Definitely recommended for teens looking for a fun and realistic romance!
There were a few kisses and mention of characters swearing.

Words that come to mind after reading this book:
Sweet, cozy, satisfying, summery.

Vibes: ☀️🌻🏖️🩰🎺🥤📝

I relate to Mia so much! Oldest daughter, perfectionist, straight-A student, loves lists and planners, struggles with anxiety and people-pleasing.

I also relate to the struggle to be vulnerable and honest with others about our weaknesses or suffering - and the healing that takes place when we are.

Anna handles hard topics like anxiety and domestic violence with empathy (but in an appropriate way for a YA novel).

I think my favorite moment in the book is Mia overthinking her first almost-kiss with Eli. I found this so relatable. 😂

The car crash seemed to come out of nowhere for me, and I'm still deciding how I feel about it.

But I loved that the ending involved some grief - mixed emotions from Eli about his parents' divorce, mixed emotions from both about change in college plans, and a long road to physical recovery for Mia.

And the happy ending was so sweet. 🤗

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for Anna's next book!

** SPOILER AHEAD, please be careful when hovering if you haven't read the book **

One of the primary metrics by which I personally rate a book is by how easily the words on the page create a movie in my mind. In Seas the Day I find a fantastic example of a book which does this exceedingly well.

As the story took me through its various settings I felt totally immersed, as though I were right there in the room with our main characters. Whether they were having a quiet moment on the beach, sipping coffee in a cafe, or auditioning for a position at their chosen colleges, I always felt locked into the story.

As a man reading this novel, one of the things that impressed me most from a technical standpoint is how authentic the dual male and female points of view felt. One can only imagine the challenges this presents for a writer, and yet as I read Eli's chapters I found so much to indentify with. Not merely in terms of the personal experiences in his life, but in his inner monologue, and his actions.

The romance between our two main characters is beautifully written, because every little step feels earned.

And man, this book plays with your heart! Like any good rollercoaster ride there are some nail-biting cliff-hangers in here!

What more can I say? I loved this book, and can't wait to see what Barroso has next for us.

I can honestly say I've never read
a romcom as, not necessarily unique,
but this different. The underlying tones of
Christianity And conservatism were a breath
of fresh air in the book world Without being
No overbearing. I can confidently say that I've never loved a
Love interest in a romcom as much as E Adored Eli garia.
He was so manly and I loved it. (and that he drove stick! )
The book felt inclusive but in a very natural normal way. There
was enough reality to make it feel relatable which I think
can sometimes be a fine line to cross.
The characters were very developed and they all played their
vole, in the story wonderfully. I think at the end of it
all my favorite part was the epilogue -thank you for
that Anna!
So go order this book and support this new amazing
author land go read her poetry collection: ! )

Aww this book was so cute!! And the cover is beautiful!! 😍 It felt good to read a genuine YA book that I could recommend to anyone. There was no woke agenda, no spice or cussing, just a story of Mia and Eli, two teenagers trying to navigate school, heavy expectations, imperfect families, difficulties, and a second-chance friendship turned love. It was fun, cute, sweet, and sad at times. There were a few moments that felt a little silly to me, but I’m not going to hate on a book for being what it’s supposed to be, a clean young adult romance. I loved Eli and Mia together! He was so sweet and attentive, and while she had some perfectionist tendencies, Mia learned to let go and “seize the day”.

This book brought me right back to middle school and high school! Exactly the type of book I would stay up into the wee hours of the night/morning reading. Anna did a great job bringing the reader into the emotions of both lead characters and had me laughing out loud at several points in the book. I haven’t been hooked on a book in a long time and this book brought back that reading craze for me.
Would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance and doesn’t want all the dirty stuff that’s so common in romance novels nowadays.

Until now, I don't think I've ever read a book where I could *feel* the author's heart and soul. Anna is woven all throughout this book from the quirky characters, the heartfelt struggles, and the funny little quips.

These characters feel so real. And while they're in highschool and I can't quite relate to them as much as I was once able to, they took me back to those days where homework, my future, and boys were all I could think about. Mia and Eli develop a deep, genuine friendship and help each other navigate through some TOUGH issues. They compliment each other so well with Eli's care-free, spontaneous attitude and Mia's reserved, anxiety-driven one. They have the kind of friendship people dream about, but with a little teenage awkwardness thrown in. 😁

This book made me laugh (LITERALLY out loud), it made me cry, it made me smile and dream. I don't have many books that I can say I wanted to restart it as soon as I finished it, but this is definitely one of them. It's the perfect mix of romance and comedy, of young-adult and still relatable to adults, and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. ❤️

This was a really cute high school romance perfect for lovers of the grumpy/sunshine dynamic.

I recognize that I’m not the target audience for this book, so some aspects characteristic of a YA romance/book didn’t really hit for me, but I think this would be great for older teens.

What I liked:
- I haven’t read too many contemporary stories that feature smart kids in the arts (as a former ballerina/band kid, it made my heart happy)
- The MCs didn’t feel one-dimensional (for the most part). Mia and Eli had flaws and insecurities, and were representation for what it’s like to live with anxiety and abusive family situations. They were a pretty big contrast to each other, but I liked that Mia’s life wasn’t perfect just because she had a seemingly “perfect life,” nor did Eli give up on his dreams just because he had a much less ideal one. I really like when books don't shy away from hard topics and this one handled them really well.
- Eli was a green flag walking in so many ways. Again, he’s definitely not perfect, but I think readers will love how much he loves Mia.

What I didn’t like:
- I had a hard time with the pacing and jumping between the dual POVs — we had huge time jumps, which wouldn’t necessarily be bad, but we would get detailed run-downs of certain events, only to switch POVs suddenly and get a few-sentence rundown of what happened later. It was hard to really care about what was happening when we hardly got to experience things from the current POV characters’ point of view. Also, the story being stretched out over the whole school year didn’t feel super realistic based on how the characters acted. It felt like things were being stretched out just to fit the desired timeline.
- Sometimes the characters acted in confusing ways — obviously humans are complex and inconsistent at times, which can definitely make stories interesting, but in this case I felt like I would be told one thing then be shown another over and over, which made for a bit of frustrating time.
- Don’t hate me, but the nicknames — I didn’t fully get them, but that’s okay, lol

Overall, I think this a really cute, wholesome read perfect for teens and anyone who loves YA romance.

🌶: just kisses and tension; characters think about how attractive each other is

“Mia, I love how you see the world and I love being a part of that world. And how, for some reason, you seem to want me in it.” 🏖️🌊🎺🩰🏫📖🧡

4.5 stars!!

Thank you so much @annabarrosoauthor for the ARC!! This was such a sweet book, and perfectly capitalized on some of the many stresses of entering adulthood after high school. 🧡

Mia Graham is a planner. She’s organizes her calendar and tasks to perfection, maintains a 4.0 GPA and is on track to attend the college of her dreams. Eli Garcia has big plans too, that consist of getting into his own dream school and getting him, his mamá, and younger brother as far away from his abusive father as possible.

What neither of them plan is sharing an English class. The two haven’t spoken since they broke up during their freshman year, and they’re suddenly forced to work together on a months-long school project. As their friendship rekindles and sparks fly, they must ask themselves: what if there’s a better plan than the one I’d drawn up for myself? 🧡

I loved this book!! The beginning was a little on the slow side, but once Eli and Mia started spending time together, I could not stop until I knew their conclusion. I remember all too well the anxiety that surrounds senior year of high school, and trying to keep hopes high for a future you can hardly envision. Barroso did an excellent job of highlighting this life-changing time of life 🧡

Where this book really shines for me is in the characters. Mia and Eli have a LOT of baggage to work through on their own and with each other, and it was interesting seeing them deal with both internal/external demons. I cared deeply about these two characters as I read, and I loved them see them fall in love with each other. Cause seriously. Every 18-year-old girl would die to have the heart of a guy like Eli Garcia 😍😍

There’s a lot to love in here, but I only have so much caption space…so go read it!! 😜 It will be available on KU on Tuesday 😘

This was such a cute YA romance! I loved Mia and Eli's characters instantly. They are very different yet so cute together. I think the high school senior social elements were on point for their ages. The Florida beach town aesthetic was fun and atmospheric. I really enjoyed the dual-POV and chapter lengths.

One of my favorite things about this was Eli's banter. His humor was such nonchalant and sarcastic cool-guy humor, it made me laugh out loud several times.

I was smiling a lot in the final chapters and loved the epilogue. This covers the timeline of Eli and Mia's senior year and I thought the progression and pacing of that really felt like a year; the character growth was there. A lot of depth along the way.

I was given an eARC to read and review but my rating is my own.

In this book: good girl x bad boy, forced proximity, anxiety rep, he falls first, exes to friends to more, he falls first
Content Guide: clean for romance and language; violence is brief and non-descriptive.
CW: panic attack, DV, very brief mention of bullying and suicidal ideation

I absolutely loved Seas the Day by Anna Barrosa! There were so many things that resonated with me—the nostalgia of being in high school, the angst of wanting to be accepted by your peers, and the deeply relatable feeling of not knowing how others see you versus how you see yourself. More often than not, we tend to see ourselves in a lesser light, while others view us with so much more grace. Anna captured this beautifully.

Mia and Eli completely stole my heart. I adored their dynamic, and Mia’s support system was just incredible. Anna’s writing is superb—there’s a poetic quality to the way the characters describe each other, and I found myself highlighting so many lines that struck a chord.

And can we talk about the playlist? Anna curated such a great selection, and I’m all about it—it’s been on repeat ever since I finished the book.

Needless to say, I loved reading this and will be recommending it to everyone!

Thank you Anna for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Seas the Days is a wonderful read and a delightful first novel. As soon as I finished I was anticipating the author’s next book. The main character’s conflicts are relatable to many; their triumphs what you root for and rejoice in. More than once I was laughing out loud or shedding tears as Anna captured sentiments and situations so realistically. I normally skim read for speed but with this novel I read every word savoring scenes and dialogues between characters. While there are some hard elements, such as school bullying and some domestic violence we need to see these things being written well with honesty and resolution.

Seas the Day was such a great read!

Anna does a great job tackling difficult topics while keeping this romance sweet and fun. I was a band kid growing up, so I especially loved all of Eli’s scenes with his trumpet.

You guys, I cried. TWICE. This is such an emotional ride! And I LOVE a good book that can make me cry.

A note: This reads like a YA novel because it IS a YA novel meant for high schoolers, and at the beginning I really felt that I wasn’t the intended audience. That being said, around 1/3 into the book, I was sucked into the story and didn’t notice the characters ages anymore.

Really enjoyed it! I highly recommend.

This was a sweet YA romance with a HEA that handled larger topics like bullying and domestic abuse appropriately for the age group.

I loved the main characters, Mia and Eli, and the growth they experience over the course of the book. First off, it was fun watching them fumble through a school project together while trying to deal with the fact that they were exes. It was adorable to watch as the friendship they once had bloomed again as they worked together and began to spend time together outside of school and the project. Then, after all the ups and downs, it was beautiful to see them overcome the odds to become more than friends.

I was gifted an ARC of this book by the author for guessing the title during her title reveal.

This was such a touching story! At first when I realized the characters were high schoolers I was a little hesitant, but I quickly fell in love with Eli and Mia. Their struggles are something that lots of people deal with and I loved how the topics were handled in this story. I also loved the slow journey from friends to more and how realistic it felt. There was so much heart in this story. I laughed out loud and teared up as I read it. Definitely one I will be adding to my bookshelf as soon as I can! Thank you to Anna Barrasso for the eARC!!!!

This was a sweet and emotion packed read. There is some on page family abuse but nothing super descriptive. And the MFC suffers with anxiety- most of her thoughts felt like my thoughts on the page.

This was really well written especially as a debut novel I enjoyed it! Can’t wait to see what else Anna comes out with next.

I received an advance copy and these thoughts are my own.
