THIS STORY WAS PREVIOUSLY ON KINDLE VELLA. THE STORY IS THE SAME.
Saylor is used to running—from her past, her emotions, and especially from Malik. He’s everything she’s afraid to patient, and fiercely protective. But he also sees through every one of her defenses, even the ones she barely understands herself. His lifestyle scares her, too, stirring desires she’s tried to bury. Yet, no matter how far she runs, the pull between them is undeniable.
After yet another disappointing date, she makes the decision to give Malik a real chance, trusting him with a power she swore she’d never hand over to any man again. This time, she surrenders in ways she never expected—and happily calls him Sir. But Malik isn’t here to control her; he wants her heart, her truth, her trust. Most of all, he wants her love.
This was hands down one of the best BDSM books I’ve read in a long time! You can tell the author really took her time and researched this community, because the ultimate level of submission in this book was top tier!
The detail, the patience, the protection and the pure love of Sir as a Dom in comparison to Malik the man was written phenomenally! He fostered a safe space for Angel to land, he made her crave his dominance and she freely gave her submission!
Most of all this book felt complete, it lacked nothing. Every open plot had closure. Although this was an erotic tale, the sex scenes weren’t unrealistic or overly dragged out. They were detailed enough to feel the angst leap from the page without leaving you exhausted.
Gasp....I am over here squirming and clutching my pearls! I usually don't get down with this lifestyle but YES SIR!!!! Th is was top tier, dialogue, pacing, connection between the characters, and the freaking sex. I love both the hero and the heroine!!!! Just the right amount of drama. Shout out to my favorite reviewer @shadesnpages on Instagram for this recommendation!
We now get to see what all that tension was about between Saylor and Malik from "King."
Saylor, Kade's sister and co-owner of their club Pleazures, embarks on a love journey she isn't quite ready for. Malik aka Sir is intense. He has been waiting for Saylor his Angel to come around to the idea of them dating. Saylor, who although she was the owner of the sex club did not partake in the BDSM lifestyle and her previous relationship left a bad taste in her mouth when it came to trust. Malik didn't give a fk about none of that, he wanted to show and prove that the connection they felt was real and he did just that. Despite all the running and poor communication from Saylor, he was patient with her mentally but he didn't hesitate to hand out the funishments. Sir was sexy af, but more than anything I loved that he taught Angel the importance of trust and that she was his top priority and stood on that.
This is a NTMA but I loved this book. Saylor is trying to heal from a heartbreak while Malik is waiting for Saylor to realize he won’t hurt her. Saylor finally decides to give Malik a chance. I loved the BDSM aspect because Malik treated Saylor as his equal while still having BDE. Twin, you one dumb bxtch 😒. I loved the way Malik stood on business about Saylor. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
This was a really 🌶🌶🌶🌶 read. The spice was nice and ripe. The entire story was well written and it kept me engaged. Of course I wanted to dig deeper, but I love lengthy novels, too. Just read the damn book.
When this book was on Vella, I used to get an Instagram ad for it over and over again. The cover caught my eye but I didn’t have Vella so I didn’t read it. But now it’s on KU…
I really enjoyed this book. This book was spicy and gave me the right amount of spice I needed. The drama with the cousin and the relationship dynamics keep me entertained throughout the book.
I’m sorry but Shani was delusional! And it would be on sight every time. Like girl if you don’t gone somewhere. Women always want to blame the other woman. When it’s the man that owes you the loyalty. When she wasn’t really the other woman. I loved Saylor and Malik relationship.
I’ve been following Ayelle Burke this year and became immediately drawn to her stories, but “Sir” truly knocked it out of the park. Saylor and Malik took me on a journey that had me captivated! Have you ever encountered a fictional couple that made you think about their lives and how perfect they would be together beyond their story? This couple had me reading the book in one sitting I love Saylor! She is a boss in her own right—confident, sexy, and successful—but she is also a runner. She wants Malik with all her heart, but she fears what he represents and what he requires. Malik is a MAN! He is patient, caring, loving, and possessive. He exudes power and commands respect from everyone he encounters. He knows that Saylor is his forever, but he’s not in the game of chasing after a woman. This book is 341 pages of BDSM deliciousness. It is, without a doubt, one of the best depictions of BDSM elements I’ve read in a long time. The author didn’t skimp on the details, and the relationship development between Saylor and Malik was effectively fleshed out on the page. I literally felt as if I were Saylor, thanks to the author’s vivid storytelling. There were moments when I had to put the book down because it got intense! The pacing of this story was immaculate! It moved steadily, and something was always happening that I didn’t even notice it was 341 pages long. Can you say hooked? The side characters and secondary storylines added so much richness to the narrative that I couldn't get enough. The drama, the audacity, the delusion—whew! Some events had me fussing at the characters, shaking my head, and feeling utterly dumbfounded. This is the most recent book in the author's catalog, and it stands as a testament to how much she has grown as an author. Although I would have preferred some flashbacks of the friendship between Saylor and Malik, it didn’t detract from the story. I am in awe of her dedication, passion, and persistence that bled through the pages of her entire catalog. She truly put in the work. Overall, “Sir” is a strong addition to her collection, and I could have honestly read 100 more pages about this amazing couple and their journey to forever. Congratulations, Ayelle! I am eager to read more of your work and will be waiting with a flashlight in the daytime
Wow. Ayelle Burke really did a great job with Sir. Malik and Saylor's relationship had ups and downs that kept me engaged at every turn. Saylor's growth as a female character was well-written and just what I needed as a reader to get even more invested in the story. I just love Malik - he's the perfect book bae. And Sir belongs on my list of well witten spicy books from black authors. Though not interconnected, Ayelle Burke's KING and Sir have an overlap of characters and explore similar topics - Black love, BDSM, self-discovery, and being open to love. I highly recommend KING, which I literally devoured in about 2 days because it was so good. Somehow, Sir is even better! Must read material for anyone who enjoys books about Black women being loved properly, fans of women's self-discovery in romance books, and anyone who loves very spicy books.

I’m used to BDSM in books but I think this one really showed what it looks like outside of the bedroom. This was a story about trust, vulnerability, and relinquishing control. Malik was a patient and attentive MMC who excelled at communicating! Saylor….sis was a little infuriating at times. She ran more than Sha’Cari Richardson, but eventually she got herself together. The storyline with the cousin was frustrating and made me sad because she really was crashing out and was bitter for no reason. This is a new to me author and I enjoyed this. I doubt I’ll go back to read Kade & Tee’s story but I’d read more by this author in the future.
I read Sir for the second time after first experiencing it episodically on Kindle Vella, and reading it straight through felt surprisingly new. Scenes landed differently, dialogue hit harder, and I found myself reacting in real time to moments I thought I remembered.
Malik (Sir) is unlike any male lead I have read. His dominance is not about control or ego. It is rooted in attentiveness, intention, and a steady focus on what Saylor wants and needs. From the first moment to the last, he stands firmly in that dynamic without ever overpowering her agency. That kind of consistency is rare and incredibly well written.
Ayelle Burke writes relationships with precision. The characters are complex without being overexplained, and any backstory that appears serves the present rather than distracting from it. The chemistry feels natural and earned.
My only complaint is that it had to end. These are the kinds of characters you want to keep checking in on long after the last page.
This was a really good story. The scenes were good and spicy and the drama with Malik, Saylor, and Shannon was really good! Malik was just what Saylor needed. He protected her from the nonsense of the world and Saylor was not letting up off her man. The one scene where he showed up to her office… I think I highlighted that whole page. I did feel bad for Shannon though. Crashing out over any man, but let alone a cheater? Electric chair. I wouldn’t mind seeing a redemption story for her. Also, had I known that Tee and Kade’s story started first, I would’ve started there, because baby, I want to know all about how they get down lol
Okay first off, i just wanna say i HATED the switch up between the use of “dick” and “cock”. Then there was a “meaty cock” thrown in there and i almost dnf! I threw a real tantrum but i made it through! And it was 1000% worth it! But yeah, gimme a Sir please and thank you! Claimed her from the beginning and stood on business! BDE!! I love a man that can thoroughly articulate and communicate his needs, wants and emotions. Malik and Saylor were so good together. She went from being scared to submit to being fully immersed and loved it!! Shani dumbass pissed me off so much! But so did Yas. Like both of yall need to gtfo and grow up and seek help!
Yes sir!!!!! Malik was THE MAN! I so love him! Saylor was inspiring to me she just captured me. It was the boss in her, then the vulnerability with Malik when she finally gave herself. I will say I totally understood her not wanting to cause a riff between the family but Jen you have a MAN like Malik, you have to be secure in not only his words but his actions. He went to get her TWICE I believe he would have another time but I’m glad we didn’t make it there. Shani was a hurricane of mess that makes you wanna dive in but have to make sure your emotions & mental are in check cause she’s gonna be a WILD RIDE! I have to go back to read the brother’s story cause I love him as well!
It was not what I expected. This book came highly discussed and recommended. I am not a fan of the controlling factor of Malik outside of the bedroom. Making it seem as though Saylor can’t handle anything on her own, even at her place of business. It came off (to me) like she couldn’t make decisions on her own and she ‘needed’ him to be her source of strength, like she was ‘less than’ without him. I like the way he empowered her but that was after he made her depend on her for EVERYTHING. I was a decent read just not my cup of tea.

Malik definitely gave grown man vibes through out this book, how if i a man wanted to he would. He secure within hisself, loved how he helped Saylor grow within herself and in their relationship. Showing her how a healthy relationship works. His cousin Shani made me mad throughout the story, you putting all your anger and energy towards the wrong person, when it should’ve been your husband you should’ve been angry at. Definitely a page turner along with the spicy sex scenes. 10/10!🔥
MALIK FOR 1K PLEASE AND THANK YOU! This story had drama, tension, swoon worthy moments, and SPICE! The way Malik didn’t waver with his intensions for Saylor.. WHEW! He did not allow her to run, he was intentional about open communication and resolving things. “IF I thought it, he delivered. If I needed it, he provided it. All before I even had to ask.”
Just good for no reason! From start to finish, I was hooked. Loved the main characters and could definitely read full stories on the supporting characters!
I enjoyed this book!!! Baby Malik was a very commanding Dom and I liked it!!! lol this was my first read from this author and will definitely read more!
I really enjoyed this storylines cause baby this book here was everything. Shani got on my damn nerves but I’m glad saylor and Malik was able to work it out
I like a soft dom. Malik wanted to ensure that his sub was taken care of and protected. I liked both characters. The drama in the book was interesting. I love how the author showed the FMC at work.
I enjoyed this Tory too much. The drama was there. The resolution was there. We all love a alpha but I especially love one that’s going to step for their woman
