We’re in the end game now. With the release of Star Wars: The High Republic: Fear of the Jedi # 1, the end of the High Republic publishing initiative is nigh.

Marvel’s Fear of the Jedi miniseries will bring Cavan Scott’s wildly impressive run from the High Republic Era comics mountain to an end. It will also, almost certainly, bring to an end our journeys (for now) with Keeve Trennis, Lourna Dee, Sskeer, Tey Sirrek, and Orba Lin.

What is coming that will make Keeve Trennis walk away from the Jedi Order?

We know it’s coming at some point, and I assumed that we would see it as part of the High Republic publishing initiative. So, at some point, it’s still coming.

They’ve been seeing Keeve’s … not so much her disagreements but more of her frustrations with the Jedi Council. It’s been building, but I don’t feel as though we’ve seen the moment that breaks her, and I’m afraid for what it will be.

I really like the development of Keeve and Sskeer over the last five years, and I can’t wait for it to come to a bittersweet conclusion.

This book benefits from some excellent seed-planting in previous comics.

I’ve been a High Republic completionist, and it’s always been a huge benefit to see characters pop up here and there to increase the depth and breadth of the story for me. Cavan Scott is in the end game here, and he’s not wasting a page.

I knew that Kelnacca from The Acolyte was going to be in this final stretch, because he’s on the cover. I don’t know if I was expecting his padawan Yarzion Vell to show up. Their story in Scott’s previous one-shot Kelnacca was very touching, so I’m glad that they’re back.

The big shock was the return of Ty Yorrick’s former master Cibaba. He was captured by Baron Boolan and experimented on becoming one of his Children of the Storm. I was not expecting his appearance in this story.

Will Lorna Dee’s story overshadow the Jedi or will she be an accessory to their “winning” this war?

One of the most interesting characters in all of the High Republic has been Lourna Dee. After her full pardon from the Republic for her previous life as a member of the Nihil, she’s now started her own bounty hunter guild the “Tempest Breakers”.

When this is completed, am I going to love Lourna’s story more than the story of the Jedi overcoming the Nihil? She’s been a star.

This final part of High Republic has a lot of *point at the screen* "oh my god it's that guy" moments, but ultimately it feels to see these characters come together, evolve and survive the catastrophic events that are currently happening. Keeve being a marshal, Skeer being back, Tey overcoming his grief, Lourna Dee comandeering her own crew and not looking back, Kelnacca from hit series The Acolyte being there. So good.

So far so good!
I’m so glad I’ve read most of the high republic main storyline. I’m not fully caught up yet but I’m getting there. I’m like two books behind.
But so far so good! Very intrigued by the ending!
Loved seeing Avar and Kelnacca!!

This was a fun read. It does a good job as a first issue for the most part, establishing character motives and a couple of different plots.
