A BRAND NEW gripping, gangland thriller from Kerry Kaya that will have your heart in your mouth from the very first page! Blood binds, betrayal burns...

Reeling from the savage murder of his youngest brother Dylan, Damien Vickers wants answers. His first stop is the notorious Carter Family. Tommy Johnson – AKA Tommy Jr – was banged up with Dylan and saw the murder happen. So Damien’s going to make him talk…

Tommy Jr wants answers too. Dylan’s murder was savage and Tommy is certain there’s more going on. But Jonny Carter warns Tommy to steer clear. The Vickers family are bad news and Jonny’s worried that getting mixed up with them is a sure way to bring trouble to their door.

Damien and Tommy don’t care. They make an uneasy alliance, digging into the truth. And the deeper they go, the more they realize Dylan wasn’t the man they thought he was. As new and old secrets are revealed both families have to rethink exactly who they can trust. Family or foe?

And if there’s no honour among thieves, there’s even less among family…

Book 3 of the ‘Carter Next Generation’ book series.

Publication Date - 27th July 2025

Kerry, Kerry, Kerry …. Well yet again you have not disappointed!! It’s like getting together at a family reunion when reading one of your new books 🤭🤣. So many fantastic characters but I never seem to get confused and you always make some sort of reference during the book as well which is great!

I think I have read most of this authors books. So if you love a bit crime, definitely check them out.

Thanks Netgalley, Rachel’s Random Reads, Boldwood Books and of course Kerry Kaya herself!

This ARC was read and reviewed, in exchange of my honest opinion. Book blog tour to follow.

Yesterday, I got to do a happy dance again, because a new gangland crime novel by this amazing author was waiting for me.

In gangland crime, I distinguish between two categories. On the one hand, there's what I call the softer genre, where it's still about power and money, but with less violence involved — the “warfare” plays out more in power games. On the other hand, there’s the grittier version, where punches are thrown left and right, but where cunning, manipulation, and bribery still play a major role. If I have to choose, I go for the second group. For me, gangland crime is about soft cores wrapped in tough exteriors, willing to do anything for family — whether it's bound by blood or not.

Luckily for me, this author chooses to write my favorite kind of gangland crime. :)

I can only say this was yet another fantastic installment in an already perfect series.
The Carters and the Vickers are two families who each rule a part of London, and due to circumstances, their paths cross. What could possibly go wrong...

Once again, this book shows how good some people are at putting on a performance and only revealing their true nature under certain circumstances — deceiving everyone around them. Who can you truly trust?

Acts of self-interest, backstabbing, and jealousy are some of the ingredients here, but there’s also room for reconciliation, fresh starts, and even love. I can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed this book. 5 stars.

The Carters: Next Generation Book 3

Reeling from the savage murder of his younger brother Dylan, Damien Vickers wants answers. His first stop is the notorious Carter family. Tommy Johnston - AKA Tommy jr - was banged up with Dylan and saw the murder happen. So Damien is going to make him talk. Tommy jr wants answers too. Dylan's murder was savage and Tommy is certain that there's more going on. But Jonny Carter warns Tommy to steer clear. The Vickers family are bad news and Jonny's worried that getting mixed up with them is a sure way to bring trouble to their door. Damien and Tommy don't care. They make an uneasy alliance, digging into the truth. And the deeper they go, the more they realise Dylan wasn't the man they thought he was.

This is a gritty and gripping gangland crime book which has well-developed characters, secrets, betrayal and lies. Damien wants to know why his brother was killed in prison. Dylan's murder had been savage. Tommy jr thinks there's more going on, but he's warned to stay away by Tommy Carter. This is a fantastic addition to the series.

This is a great UK gangland crime thriller. Although it is book 3 in the series it reads great as a standalone.
The story is quite detailed and initially I did struggle with who was who and kept getting the characters mixed up but the level of detail explains everything and you soon get engrossed in the storyline. The author is well known for writing strong gangland crime fiction but, I feel, that she has excelled with this book. As well as the strong female characters and tough male characters that you develop a good knowledge of throughout the book, there is also a great display of all the different connections, relationships, and complexities of life within a gangland crime family.
A must buy for all fans of the genre.
I read the e-book but have had a listen to a preview of the audiobook and Annie Aldington does a great job with the narration.
The book was released yesterday in paperback, hardback, e-book and audiobook formats.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books, NetGalley and the author for providing me with an advanced copy of the e-book in return for an honest and unbiased review

Another absolutely brilliant addition to this gangland series featuring the Carter family. A gritty read that doesn’t pull any punches this had me totally hooked from page one. Damien Vickers wants answers after his brother Dylan is murdered whilst in prison. Tommy Carter was there and Damien is convinced that he knows who was responsible so pays him a visit……. Fast paced and easy to follow this has colourful well described characters, tension, family dynamics, secrets and betrayal making this hard to put down!

A very good gangland thriller, set in London, featuring the Carter and Vickers families and filled with plenty action and drama. The plotting is based around family ties, betrayal and jealousy. The characters are believable and book 3 in the series finds Damien looking for answers to his brother Dylan's killing in prison. Relax, buckle up and enjoy the ride as the author never disappoints.. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

The third book in the Carter family series is an explosive read that does not disappoint. From start to finish, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It features great characters and is filled with crime, as one would expect, infused with themes of power and money that give it a violent edge.
If you're a fan of gripping gangland stories, this book will keep you captivated with its dramatic and compelling storyline.
