Highlander Obsessed A Scottish Time Travel Romance Rebecca Preston ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amelia Cosgrove goes for a jog in modern day Scotland and as she enters a strange mist she never expects to end up going back in time. She's at the pinnacle of her career as a champion MMA fighter and has faced down every opponent, but none of them were ever Lords that were born hundreds of years before. Lord Percival Taffington is nothing but a scheming English noble who wants to be cruel to every young woman he meets. After arriving at Weatherby Manor Amelia finds herself bustled off to the castle safe in the MacClaran clans arms with the other time traveling women or so she thinks, but Taffington believes she's nothing more than a prize to be had and will not leave her alone.
Hamish MacClaran is a widower who is haunted by the tragic loss of his wife who looks almost identical to Amelia. As Hamish begins to get to know Amelia he realizes that the two women may look alike, but are very different. As time goes by Amelia and Hamish begin to enjoy spending time together and try to be diplomatic and deal with Lord Taffington nicely, but they soon begin to realize that the man will not take no for an answer and Amelia's fighting skills become more valuable than ever as she begins to draw on that strength as she will need every bit of courage she has if they are going to make it out of this unusual situation alive and well.
Rebecca Preston is on fire. This is one of my favorite authors and I never miss one of her books. I never expected this book would be so good. There were twists upon twists and I never knew what was going to happen next. Amelia was an amazing character. This lady could break bones with one hit and she was not afraid to use force if needed. Hamish was one of those sweet tormented souls that never wants to hurt anyone which is why he was the perfect diplomat for the clan. All in all I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it for historical readers who love going back in time. I can't wait to see what Ms. Preston comes up with next.
Just like every book she has written, I did not want it to end! I did miss hearing a little about the other time travelers, but the story of Hamish and Amelia was beautiful.
Amelia was at the top of her game in her career, but a breather was needed and the MacClaran's course still had unfinished business. So, she found herself traveling straight back in time. An interesting and complicated situation was affecting the townspeople and requiring much diplomacy. I was struck by Hamish and the diplomatic skills he displayed despite how terribly Amelia's situation was weighing on him. Amelia found a way to channel her frustrations and not just for her own benefit. Much to think about in a situation that is currently being struggled with. Not easy to deal with. I liked how the attraction between her and Hamish developed. Sir Baldric is not a MacClaran affected by the curse but as a secondary character, he continues intriguing me, he has always been present in one way or another in the stories and I would like to see him play a bigger role.
I like this series. Each book is a stand alone story, but it does include previous characters. Both Amelia and Hamish are likeable. Amelia being an MMA fighter and Hamish being a negotiator for the clan and Scotland. I liked how she was able to use her skills and talent to help the women in the village with a problem "guest" . And that even though Hamish did not like violence he encouraged her to help. Hamish used diplomacy over violence except when it came to Amelia and fighting for her honor. They did have an unexpected source of help when needed. Slow burn to the romance. I liked the HEA at the end of their story. Action throughout with a few twists to keep things interesting. Well done. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed reading this story! It starts with Amelia in the present what is happening in her life and she decides to for a walk and as she is walking she ends up back in time. I was drawn in to what is happening with Amelia how she meets Hamish and how they deal with everything that is going on and how it ends.
Couldn’t put it down so lasted but a few nights, could have read on for much longer, Rebecca’s style is all engrossing and an easy style to follow and I am always intrigued by the story line, only problem is I have read every book in every collection and waiting for the next one seems an eternity. Thank you Rebecca but can you write faster!
