POSTMARK: PARIS When writer David Thompson receives a large envelope with a Paris postmark, he's intrigued. The sender, an elderly woman, has promised to reveal secrets from World War II. David, who is writing the biography of a prominent American from that era and his travels to Paris, decides to send Miranda Farrell, his research assistant, to meet with the elderly woman.
There, Miranda also meets Gus O'Neil who has reluctantly accepted an assignment by the FBI to investigate her. Due to her previous travels as a courier, she has triggered the agency's interest. But not only do the contents of the envelope lead Miranda to the elderly woman, they also lead her to danger. Together, Gus and Miranda become involved in a romantic adventure.
Could have been great: The premise of this book was good and it could have been an action packed and exciting read. Whilst the intrigue was there, unfortunately the book's execution caused it to fall a little flat. It was not very plausible nor realistic and not everything lined up. The characters came across as rather two dimensional and I didn't feel like I really got to know Miranda and Gus. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. A new author to me and I enjoyed the story, the way it was told and the characters. There was plenty of suspense and a clean romance is nice for a change. The only thing that left me wondering is why the men chasing after Miranda stopped all of a sudden. I will gladly read more from this author.
