Wow! What an ending!

I was very surprised by how, compared to the other two volumes, the intensity of this volume was on another level! I was extremely taken aback by Harold's actions and, honestly, how manipulative he really seemed to be. *nervous laughter* He's usually always been so fun and upbeat, with only being super serious about the case.

But when that seriousness turned on Echika, I really didn't know what to make of it because several moments really made me feel uncomfortable in the sense of how well-drawn everything was, from the paneling to expressions. I felt like I was seeing a whole new side of Harold, and again, for a while there, I really didn't know what to make of anything except that Echika was for sure innocent.

And speaking of her, my heart really hurt on her behalf! She had to make some really tough decisions, and I admired how she was able to let go of something that had been deeply precious and important to her. I almost wanted to "fight" Harold for how he was seeming to treat her because someone I thought he considered to be a "friend" seemed to be just a means to an end, and she did NOT deserve that!

I guess that would be a great point to say that the writing really left me on edge when it came to the "amicus vs human" because just when I was happily delusional of my romantic "fantasies" of our leads, I feel that climax conveyed something so much deeper than any kind of potential romance. I'm not sure how much to share about that due to spoilers, but I hope that is explored more in the light novels, as I think it makes you really think!

Overall, this was a fantastic conclusion and manga series! I'm very bummed that the manga didn't continue further because I for certain would have picked up more volumes!
