In a not-so-distant future, America has become a surveillance state—each citizen implanted with a chip that tracks their every move. Bella Cavanaugh, the FBI’s lead architect of the technology, believes her work ensures safety and accountability. But hidden behind layers of government secrecy lies a disturbing truth, concealed even from her. Zak Chamberlain, an unsuspecting citizen, stumbles upon classified information that reveals the chilling reality behind the system. Marked as a target, he becomes a fugitive in a world where technology makes escape nearly impossible. On opposite sides of the law, Bella and Zak’s paths collide near the real-life Alaskan town of Chicken—a place as harsh and unforgiving as the secrets they uncover. Chipped is a pulse-pounding thriller that delves into the tension between safety and freedom, trust and betrayal, and the cost of technology in a world without privacy. Perfect for fans of speculative fiction, gripping action, and edge-of-your-seat suspense.

4.5 stars!! Wow! This was such good book, I didn’t want to put it down. This was well written and I liked the different POV’s. Zac and Sydney are great parents making sacrifices thinking of their child and her future, Bella learning more about the project that she was working on, and Siber’s story of self preservation were all beautifully intertwined. I gave this 4.5 stars, because there were some plot lines that seemed somewhat incomplete and I would have liked to get more information on them. #GoodreadsGiveaway
Was at 93% through the book on my kindle when it powered off. That’s when I realized how into the book I was and needed to know how it ended. Good characters, no boring spots and, all in all, a good read. I would definitely recommend.
“Chipped” is a captivating debut from an author I’m thrilled to have discovered. From the first page, Rosoff hooks you with irresistible tension—you simply must know how the story unfolds. His vivid narrative and richly drawn characters make you feel as though you’re racing across the Alaskan tundra, pursued by a relentless government force.
The premise feels entirely plausible, prompting you to reconsider the technology woven into your daily life and ask yourself: how much is too much? Rosoff’s skillful use of alternating perspectives lends each character remarkable depth. I was particularly moved by the section exploring Siber’s backstory, which added emotional tension and depth.
I appreciate that “Chipped” strikes a perfect balance of thrilling drama and thoughtful reflection—and I’d feel confident recommending it to my older children. This is one gem of a novel you won’t want to miss.
Started Chipped this morning with my cup of coffee. Instantly hooked. When the first few pages make you question things already, you know it’s going to be a wild ride.
Getting to know Zak, Bella, Anik and unfortunately - Mike, while the plot quickly unfolds was thrilling.
I had to put this down to go socialize for the day, and my brain kept thinking about Zak and Mia. Were they going to make it?
Now, with a miller lite having wrapped this gem up; I’m sad it’s over!! My brain is still processing the ending. While extremely bittersweet, it wrapped up seamlessly.
Kudos to a very fast paced, well rounded stand alone!
I enjoyed this book. Fast paced. Creative. The kind you can read in short bursts when busy, or long sessions when not. First time author? Doesn’t read like it - feels seasoned and complex. Great read.
I love sci-fi and I love thrillers, and this techno-thriller is an excellent addition to the canon. The premise grabs you from the start as both believable and scary. The plot twists and turns, leaving you wondering what’s next. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed the book. Very fast paced and engaging. The characters were believable and relatable. Quite impressive for a first novel, and I look forward to his next book!
This is a very good quick read, as it keeps you wanting to turn the page to see how it develops. First book by this new author and I’m excited to see his subsequent works.
I don't leave many reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this instance after reading this debut novel from a brand new author. Chipped was a quick read and kept me captivated the whole time. I had a hard time not reading one more chapter before starting what I needed to do that day. The story is laid out in a way that keeps you guessing, but there is also a familiar predictability with it in certain aspects that is almost comforting in a sense. Chipped has a nice balance of unpredictability paired with that sense of security we all want at just the right time. There is no real down time between chapters, so you glide through wanting to know what happens next and how it all unfolds at the end. All in all, a solid clear plot through out, relatable characters, the twists and turns we expect from a thriller type of novel, and both a surprising yet heartwarming ending. Definitely give Chipped a go, you won't be disappointed!

This novel transported me to the heart of the tundra of Alaska, the author's vivid imagery painted a clear picture of the landscape. Character development is a standout feature, with Bella and Zak feeling remarkably real. I especially admired the author's meticulous attention to detail, crafting each character with unique speech patterns and mannerisms. The story itself is refreshingly original, seamlessly integrating modern technology into a compelling narrative. It's a true pleasure to witness the work of such a dedicated storyteller, bringing their imaginative concepts to life on the page.
I really loved everything about this book. The author caught me right off the bat with the very plausible and terrifying plot, short chapters with riveting cliffhangers, and dual plot lines that developed independently and had me almost desperate to figure out how they were going to intersect. I couldn’t wait to see how everything would connect, and I was not disappointed. The fast paced storyline serves intrigue, a bit of drama, a sprinkle of tragedy and a generous helping of perseverance and hope. Can’t wait to see what’s next from this new author.
I have a new favorite author, right up there with Follett, Griffin and Patterson. Chipped will grab hold of you and keep you engaged with it's likable characters and interwoven plots. I appreciated the short chapters, the suspense at each chapter end and the way the story lines merged together at the end. I can't help but wonder, though, if perhaps there might be a part 2 where the Feds figure out how to unchip everybody. Way to write-em Jeff. I'm looking forward to your next release.
Sneaky government programs that are used for sinister activities well beyond what they were originally designed for? Yep. Real characters with a touch of romance? Yep. A use of AI that we should all be weary of as it is employed in more and more places that we in the mainstream are happily oblivious to? Yep. This book has it all yet manages to not overwhelm you with any of the details. Great entertaining read which is what I’m looking for when I pick up a book.
Chipped is an excellent and entertaining read. The very first page grabbed my attention and kept me captivated to the end. The chapters are short and so well written that you want to continue reading to find out what happens next. The author managed to combine suspense, romance, and a few moments that tug at your heartstrings. I have recommended Chipped to several friends that are avid readers. We all agree that Chipped is one read you don't want to miss.
5 Stars for sheer fun. This is a page turner! 2.75 Stars for the execution. This is a debut book by a fledgling author. There are stumbles at the beginning, but my advice is stick with it, as the author will hit his stride toward an ending well worth the journey.
I'm looking forward to reading more by Jeffrey Rosoff and watching him blossom as a writer.
A new author to watch emerges in the techno-thriller genre. The story is very engaging and will keep you up wanting to know what happens next. Prepare to be taken for a ride. I would absolutely recommend it and can't wait to see what comes next from this author.
Loved this debut novel from Jeffrey Rosoff! The setting was beautifully written, I felt like I was in the Alaskan wild. I also loved the action and twists of the story. I felt the tension the entire time and couldn't put the book down. Can't wait to see more from this author in the future!
Exceptionally written, I really enjoyed the storyline as well as short chapters. Felt myself rooting for the main characters to best the system and fully expose the government secrets. Great Author
It's been a long time since I read a novel. I got Chipped because I knew the author and worked with him a long time ago. I found it incredibly engaging and easy to read and am very excited to read the next one!
This was a roller coaster from the first chapter! Lots of twists and turns, and a very good read. Chipped not only held my interest, but left me checking the author's name for more books! It's always a good day when you find a new author you like!
I am usually a reader of historical fiction but my husband recommended this book. I couldn’t help be pulled into the story as I kept wondering about our dependence on technology today. We are all so “connected”… to phones, watches, Alexa’s. How long til we are “chipped”… or are we already???
