When Danny and his friends wander into La Société de la Nuit, they don’t realize it’s a secret club for supernatural elites. Or that Danny is about to meet Cassin—a devastatingly handsome vampire billionaire who feels oddly familiar.
A night of flirting turns into a morning in Cassin’s penthouse, where Danny discovers Cassin isn’t just a monster… he’s the CEO of the company Danny’s dad works for. As sparks fly and secrets unravel, Danny is pulled into Cassin’s dark, seductive world. But not everyone in La Société wants their love to survive.
Cassin is a swoony, spicy, and wickedly funny start to the Millionaire Monster Daddies series—because dating a supernatural sugar daddy is anything but simple.
Where to start with this?? Let’s just say that having sex with your boss while your dad is standing four feet away (compelled or not) is absolutely unhinged.
WHAT I LIKED - Premise. I was really looking forward to curling up in bed with this but unfortunately the execution fell short.
WHAT I DISLIKED - Writing. More rounds with an editor were sorely needed. There was too much telling and not enough showing.
- Character development. Barely there. Neither of the MCs grow at all by the end of the book so there’s really not much to look forward to. Also, Cassin appears 25 years old but somehow he managed to become the CEO of a big pharma company?? (We never even see him engage in any management duties🙄) And why was this fact only introduced when Danny got the internship?
- World building. A few quirks would’ve breathed some life into this but alas, there’s nothing to write home about.
August is fantastic at setting a scene. The first pages sucked me into La Société de la Nuit. I could sense the pulsing of the bass and imagine a room full of supernatural, beautiful beings wearing the finest silks, sparkles, dresses, suits. I could imagine being with Danny and his friends, laughing and having a riotously good time.
I love that Cassin’s friends tease him for gawking at Danny. No matter how long we live, people are people. That must be especially true for supernatural beings who don’t age. It leaves me pondering, if your prefrontal cortex doesn’t form before you’re turned, will it ever?
When it comes to the spicy scenes… if there’s anything August’s writing is going to do, it’s going to make me blush. 🙈🙊 I had to put my book down for a few minutes when DANNY’S DAD was suddenly in the office!
Before I knew it, I was at the last page with a cliffhanger! (Rude!) I can’t wait for Cassin and Danny’s story to be continued!
