I truly enjoyed this novel. I hadn't read a shifter story in a while and this was a great one to jump back in with. Forbidden love, fated mates, humor, great characters, some spice, and danger. I can't wait to read the next book.

Origins of a Queen by Kat Miranda is a Paranormal Romance/Romantasy! Think vamps, wolf shifters, fated mates!
OOAQ opens giving the backstory to Selena's family history! Which i felt was a amazing way to start. I really enjoyed her relationship with her best friend Zoey!
My first induction was that Rory was the mysterious prince.  But who knows.
I really enjoyed the scenes from the masquerade!
This book just had me in a whirlwind of anxiety and emotions.
And it was the ultimate cliffhanger from hell 👀
It hurt my little black heart so muchhh

I devoured this book! Such an easy read from the beginning I loved Kat’s take on the supernatural world.

The dual perspectives really add to the story telling, truly getting the story from both perspectives.
Fated mates can we quite hard to get both perspectives and keep them from merging together, but it works really well in this book.

The MMC is toral marshmallow filling but only for her and I am here for it! 😍

This was my first paranormal shifter romance and I have to say I have been officially converted. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and the characters.
I feel as though this would be a new adult theme, however I enjoyed it nether the less. The characters where likeable and easy to connect with and I loved the relationship between Selena and Matteo. It gives romance, banta and adventure all perfect for me! It was a fun, quick read that I would highly recommend.

I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds in the next book!!

I absolutely love this series, what a start. selena, mateo, Rory and jasper are fantastic characters and I love the synim there. the banter is brilliant and it's very romantic. I love a fated mates trope. I can't wait for the next installment.

This book caught me by surprise in the best way. As an author, it’s hard for a story to truly hold my attention because I tend to focus on the technical side of writing rather than getting lost in the story. But this one? It was amazing. I was completely hooked by the tension and the slow burn, just waiting for Dorian and Selena to finally admit who they were to each other.

This is such a beautiful story. The worldbuilding is unique, and it’s clear a lot of thought went into crafting it. Every scene flowed smoothly, the pacing was spot on, and the characters were so well fleshed out, it made them feel real. There’s a deeper connection with each one, and that made reading their journey even more real.

The backstory of the vampire and wolf houses was fresh and original, and I honestly can’t wait to see where it goes next. I was genuinely disappointed when I reached the end and there wasn’t more to be honest. A bit of a cliffhanger, now that more people are part of the
'inner circle.' As a reader, I need to know what happens to their secret.

Truly, Kat...such a beautiful story. I can’t wait for the next one.

This series is absolutely phenomenal. I have not been this invested in a series since the Hunger Games released over a decade ago. I have always been an avid reader, but have struggled with diving into a series - This one changed my mind about series all together. The character descriptions are written beautifully and each character's personality is portrayed so perfectly. I spent the first half of the book screaming at poor Selena. Kat's writing gives you a head first dive into a new realm in such a unique way. I laughed, cried, and (possibly) threw my kindle in rage. The emotional connection to the characters is formed so early on and that's something I LOVE to experience when reading any book. I finished the entire first book in 2 days and have now started the second book. There are so many easter eggs hidden (Love you Jasper). Its quirky, and romantic, and over all just very well written. I am not even finished with book two and I am already ready for book three.

Okay let me start off by saying that this is not my usual genre to read but I absolutely fell in love with this story and the characters. I was hooked from chapter one and that is not easy to do with me!

I started reading this last night and hated that the need for sleep got in the way of continuing. The first thing I did when I woke up was pick it right back up and was immersed once again.

I love the connection between Selena and Dorian and the way Kat writes sexual tension is phenomenal! Jasper and Matty are brilliant and really add to the story. Jasper especially I'm really intrigued by.

I LOVE Lupa! She is funny, sassy and says it like it is and I love the back and forth between Selena and her.

This story is amazing and I am cancelling my Sunday evening plans because I need to go read book 2 right now after that ending!

Would recommend this story to anyone, an absolute must read!!!

If you like shifter romances, vampires, found family then your love this book.

It has vibes of a Cinderella retelling as Selena is a wolf shifter who was abandoned to the king & Queen when she was a baby & has worked int he palace as a servant her entire life. As she gets close to 'coming of age' & her 1st shift she is promoted within the Palace to the head of household of the mysterious & not present Prince of Midnight - the Vampire heir to the throne. Their paths cross at the village mascarade ball, only she doesn't know he's the prince until he turns up at the palace & she goes into survival mode & tries masking her scent with magic so he doesn't recognise her.

The supporting cast are brilliant, Jasper brings the comic relief, Zoey brings the confidence & sass to the storyline, whilst Matteo is Selena's teacher & support, all of which bring vibrancy & texture to the narrative.

A great start to this trilogy & I will definitely be grabbing book 2 soon.

This writer knows how to bring emotions out in her readers. Happiness comes pouring out at the luck Selena receives from fate. There is sadness at how Selena has to grow up and live in slavery. Anger flows from the heart at the indifference there is between the vampires, wolves, witches, and humans.

There is a forbidden love within the book. It's strong but not accepted or acceptable for a long time in the book. But once it is accepted between the lovers, but not society, it is explosive.

This is definitely a book that will stay with me for a long time. It will stay on my bookshelf forever. In fact, this is a book that I would like to buy, in hardcover if available, so I have the complete series for my physical library.

Fantastic Shifter Fantasy

Sometimes love has no bounds, although it is socially unacceptable and forbidden, it cannot be denied. I loved the humor, sarcasm, the push and pull, the friendships that were formed, the bonds the shifted forms have with their host and each other. I loved how Selena learns to never back down when someone tries to belittle her. Selena is humble, yet feisty, a hard worker, and keeper of secrets to those she holds dear. Dorian is a gorgeous vampire with a beast that may scare some, but not Selena. Hiding their forbidden love is the biggest challenge of all. I'm so looking forward to book 2!!
I MUST know what happens! Kat, I love your writing style. Keep the books coming!

I recently read this with my book club after receiving the recommendation from a friend. This was one of the best books I’ve ever read. It only took me a couple of chapters to be sucked in. I read the whole thing in one sitting. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone, but the writing is exceptional and there is a character for everyone’s cup of tea. The author took great detail in telling the characters story and it had just the right amount of spice without being too much. I look forward to more work from Kat Miranda!

I read this book and I’m away to start the second because I’ve been chosen as one of the ARC readers of the 3rd and final book in the series. Loved this book and I’m excited for the next one.

Selena and Dorian have had very different upbringings but are fated mates. They’ve been keeping this a secret due to Selena being his head of staff, a wolf who has worked tirelessly to get to where they she is now. Dorian the Royal prince also has a secret.

Princess Kora has found out the truth. Will she keep silent or will she reveal all? I’m sure book 2 will fill us in.

If u love werewolf books with twists and turns along the way then this is the book you need to read. You can feel the emotions throughout the writing between the characters and all the questions this book leaves u with has you needing to dive into the next book in the series honestly such a fantastic gripping book now its time for me to dive into secrets of a queen. From the very beginning I knew that I was really going to like this book. Selena is such a strong FMC, even when she doesn't quite realize it yet. Our MMC Dorian is such a dreamboat. I was immediately rooting for them.
