Melted by a Man

Rate this book
She’s cold and reserved.
He’s warm and approachable.
It was only supposed to be one night.

Romance wasn’t on Jacqueline Williams’ to-do list. The buttoned-up Human Resource manager likes rules; they help her feel safe. After meeting a handsome stranger, she tossed away the rulebook for one night. One amazing night. At least she thought, until he walked into the conference room at the tech startup where she works.

Needing a change, Leo Turner packed up his life in London and moved to Southern California. Relocating offered everything he wanted: a new job, being closer to his family, and unexpectedly, an unforgettable night with a beautiful woman—a woman who turned out to be the Director of Human Resources at his new job.

She’s tough. She’s inflexible. She haunts his dreams.
He’s frustrating. He’s foolish. He melts her defenses.
It was only supposed to be one night.

Arc review. - out April / may

This book is basically what if you had a one night stand one night and the next day you find out he’s the guy you are interviewing . (speak about awkward) - you have this hot passionate , life changing sex - and suddenly you are co workers . This book explored that well and I love that - now I’m not usually a fan of office romances cus most tend to be ceo x assistant ( unfortunately) but this one is not and it’s refreshing .

So I love leo so fucking much this man aaah!! And I relate to both Jacqueline and leo in some ways ( as I am an audhder ) I heavily think Jacqueline is autistic. She’s definitely in my eyes autistic and although I cannot relate to her fully as I am not really an office girlie ( or someone who is a low level Autistic as her ) I still relate to her some ways . Like the stimming via listening to the same song on repeat ( it’s one of my mains stims in fact listening to music in general is a stim for me

I signed up for this arc because I saw both MCs were neurodivergent and as a neurodivergent babe myself who really loves to see myself in fiction ( in someways ) I knew I’d love it .It’s rare to see autistic or adhd characters in romances ( so the fact I saw this and the arc sign up is a blessing for me . I am so happy I got chosen to read this book !!

I love the female friendships in this book ( and how they are her friends and not bullying her . ) us neurodivergent’s ( especially autistic, adhders and audhders often experience friendships where we are bullied , mocked etc ( and it’s nice to see Jacqueline have friends and how she navigates friendships)I relate in that way !!!

The chemistry between Jacqueline and leo was aah. I love their chemistry- the way they communicate- the way kink was explored ( not heavy kink ) there’s a safeword and light kink !! What I do love most is how this is a book about 2 neurodivergent individuals falling in love & like I said above it’s rare to see a book like this.

This is British mmc x American fmc hehe so yes he is out here saying “love”

There’s a lot of queer rep in this book and I love it . Jacqueline’s brother is gay , leo’s pan & his cousins ( possibly bi & has a gf ) oh and he has 2 Mum( lesbians) there is a nonbinary character in this book called taylor who uses they/them pronouns and is pan too. I love how much queer rep is in this book.

I honestly really enjoyed this book a lot. I enjoyed the friendships & the romance , the chemistry . This book was a whole lot of fun & I absolutely loved it

I would definitely 1000% recommend this book

This doesn’t technically have a real 3rd act breakup ( but there’s this cute grand gesture ) I love it .

This was such a nice read!

Just like some of the characters in the book, I wasn’t sure what to make of Jaqueline at first, but then you get more of her chapters and what her mindset is like with her history, anxieties, and sensitivities. She started really endearing herself to me, I felt for her and teared up a couple times early on just understanding her mindset and how she feels inside and I was suuuper excited to see how things would unfold between Jaqueline and Leo.

Leo is just such a love and even though they got their wires crossed initially, as they grew into each other you see Leo’s gentle, understanding nature working so well for Jaqueline who has always had social difficulties and a traumatic relationship history which makes her anxious and prickly. He’s a soft space for her and it’s so lovely.

A lot of the relationship is sexual and there’s a lot of scenes but it’s also where they seemed to be able to be the most themselves and open so it was really a good demonstration of exploration of self and relationship through sex. I was, however, really hanging in for the parts where they get to know and understand each other as people a bit more outside of it and I definitely got that in a big way. They do get there and it’s a joy to read. I’d say the romance is more of the mid/slow-burn rather than the physicality aspect, which is a bit different than other mid/slow-burns I’ve read.

This book also has, IMO, really great neurodivergent (likely autistic) rep which I always love as someone with an autistic partner and may be ND myself. Jaqueline starting to understand herself and open up and be vulnerable had me in tears at points. Really emotional.

Their love was so sweet, despite some of their initial troubles, and I was just so happy for them by the end.

Great read and can recommend this for something unique and warm.

4/5 ⭐️

I received this book as an ARC and I was so excited after reading Written by a Woman. I loved the development of Jacqueline and why she seemed so cold and distant to everyone around her in the first book. Also, Leo... Oh my goodness. I loved the way their relationship progresses throughout the book. I honestly can't wait to see what happens in the *hopefully* next book.

♡ One Night Stand
♡ Strangers to Coworkers to Lovers
♡ He’s the new CTO and she’s the Director of HR
♡ He falls first and hard
♡ Neurodivergent rep, ADHD, undiagnosed autism

3.5 ⭐️ Ngl I felt myself struggling with this one due to our FMC, Jacqueline. She was hard to like at first and to be honest, I strongly disliked the hypocrisy from the first book with Signe. She suffered from a lot of trauma and her undiagnosed autism so she took it out on her employees. This was hard to read because I wanted to support her and understand where she was coming from but also deeply concerned at how awful she treated the MMC. She was on such a high horse and terribly unprofessional in the workplace. Mind you, she was in therapy!!

Aside from her behavior, she really was a much more enjoyable character outside of the office. The way she and Leo got together had me squealing. Leo was my absolute favorite dark haired, light blue eyed British pansexual ever. I loved his relationship with his family and how LOVING and caring he was with Jacqueline. His filthy mouth, his dominance, his accent alone made me weak. 😮‍💨 I’m looking forward to continuing the story with the rest of the characters. The lead ups to two other couples was so fun, making it all the more exciting to jump into hehe

LOVEEE a good anxiety & adhd power couple. We’ve got neurospice in this one and shoutout to the trans pediatric OT. That’s insane representation and it seemed like they were going to get their own love story soon too.

Sometimes work place romances are a little too cliche but I love the characters in this series. The characters have depth and struggle with real life problems we see often in the real world. Also I was laughing a lot throughout this book, not sure if it was meant to be rom com but I loved it!!

Wow. I did not expect to feel so seen within the first couple chapters of this book. This book has so many mental health reps and I resonated deeply with so many of them. I'm a high functioning adult with diagnosed depression/anxiety, and undiagnosed OCD. I related to Jacqueline throughout so much of the book - her overthinking, spiraling, need to apologize for everything. When she had to fall back on her therapist's words of trusting what other people tell you until they give you reason to believe differently, I felt that in the depths of my soul.

This may be the book for you, if you're a fan of:
-Mental health reps (ADHD, neurodivergent)
-Grumpy vs. sunshine with her being the grump
-Therapy and growth
-Sassy British men with motorcycles
-Did I mention growth? Lots of growth.
-"Speak to me the way you spoke to her"
-Workplace romance
-LGBTQ+ reps
-One night stands turned more...
-Consensual spice

Please note: explicit language and multiple open door scenes are present in this book.

This author does such an amazing job creating an inclusive and safe world. I didn't want the book to end. I loved Written by a Woman and couldn't wait to read this one. With the political climate in the US being how it is with hate, racism, sexism, etc being okay, this book was... I honestly don't know how to say what I'm feeling. The therapy sessions, the anxiety, those angry voices in your head telling you that you aren't good enough, thinking you might be neurodivergent and knowing you're different and the anxieties that come with all that. To have good characters, really really good characters that let you know it's okay to be who you are was so refreshing. I loved this love story. I plan on buying the physical copy of this book to add to my bookshelf and when life is feeling a little too hard, this one will be read again by me.

Dedication: This book is a love letter to unlikeable women. For the women who are told to smile more, and frown less. For the women who have been told that they’re too combative. Too bossy. Too serious. This book is for the Girl’s-girls.
Right from the prologue, I was SO IN with Jacqueline & Leo. At the beginning of every chapter, we’re given a tiny glimpse into the night they shared & it’s a super creative way of letting us learn more about their history. Andrea’s choice by unveiling their story in this way makes it extra engaging & I really liked it. These two are incredible & I absolutely LOVE them! Leo is protective, attentive, funny, caring & he compliments Jacqueline in the best ways by making her feel safe, seen & understood. Jacqueline is seen as the office “witch” & she struggles with non-direct communication. But behind that outer shell, she’s funny, smart, passionate & anyone who doesn’t take the time & care to understand her is really missing out.
“I don’t have anything to say to you...” I didn’t want to stay here. I wanted to run...
“I see you’re still the same cold bitch you’ve always been.” ...Vincent still felt powerful putting women down. He still went out of his way to “win” arguments, even if he wasn’t actually in one... There was no alternate reality where he saw me as someone he liked or respected...
“Nah, mate,” Leo’s voice was dangerously low, a tone I’d never heard him use before. It gave me chills, “Speak to me how you spoke to her.” ...
“I wasn’t talking to you—”
“I don’t care,” Leo dropped his hold on my back, stepping forward so that half of his body was in front of me, shielding me from my ex, “You’re a grown man. You don’t talk to women like that... You want to talk like that? Talk to me. Not her.
Never her.
The two of them together are spicy (with loads of consent, care & cuddles—which we love), adorable, neurodivergent & are fantastic partners to the other. She frowns at people often, but he loves her frowns. Plus, they both have amazing tastes in music: think early 2000s dance-pop. I genuinely think this is Andrea’s best book to date & I highly recommend this super fun, unique, entertaining & heartfelt romance.
A smile spread across his face, and I grinned back at him. Admiring him. How beautiful he was like this. His pupils were practically blown out, hiding so much of his clear blue irises. His pale cheeks flushed with color from exertion. How his black hair looked so messy from my fingers running through it. I couldn’t wrap my head around this moment; how lucky I was that we were together like this.
In terms of interconnected storylines, it's not required to read Written by a Woman before this one. Yes, we met Jacqueline & others at Sun Steer Tech in that story, but Andrea does a great job filling you in on anything you might have missed & how people know each other. There's also a crossover character from her first series, the What It Means series, but they simply exist in this world. There aren't details from the other stories about this character that are necessary to understand this book. Andrea totally takes care of you if this is the first book of hers you're picking up!
“Don’t do that... Don’t give me a smile I didn’t earn, Jacqueline... I am not interested in any fake smiles from you."
“… I know that when I’m not smiling, I look mad,” Jacqueline was whispering to me now. "If I don’t smile, people assume I am upset at them when I’m not.” ...
“If you tell me that you’re okay, I’m trusting you to tell me the truth... You don’t need to force a smile for me. I would much rather wait until I earned a real one. Besides... your smile is beautiful, but so is your relaxed expression. Your frowns. Even your glares... You don’t need to put on a mask with me. I want to see you. All of you.”
I also have to say, I personally connected to Jacqueline on many different levels. The main one being her neurodivergence & reliance on music. I'm currently going through my own discovery to classify my neurodivergence, like she is. And while I'm never regarded as the one with chronic RBF, it's only because I go out of my way to make others feel comfortable, since I'm a people pleaser.
Watching her spin in and out of my hold, throwing me wide smiles with joy filling her expression, I realized something. I wanted everything that Jacqueline Williams was willing to give me. Because no one else would do for me anymore. She was who I wanted to run home to after work. She was the one I wanted to take to secret pop-up raves in the middle of nowhere. She was the one I wanted to sink into every night. She was the one I wanted to wake up to every morning. Jacqueline had once confessed that looking at me made her want, a sentiment I had come to fully understand. I wanted her. I wanted all of her. In every sense of the word.
To see Jacqueline find someone who makes her better & makes her feel safe enough to be herself, her complete self with, it inspiring. Even being fictional, I 100% root for this couple. Thank you for another fantastic book, Andrea!

ARC Review of Melted By A Man by Andrea Andersen👩🏻‍💻💘👨🏻‍💻🏉🎧📚

This book melted me in all the best ways.

After falling head-over-heels for Written by a Woman, I knew I had to dive into Melted by a Man the second I had a free moment—and wow, Andrea did not disappoint. She’s got this way of writing that just grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. I couldn’t put it down.

Let’s talk about Jacqueline for a sec. Watching her character unfold in this book was honestly everything. We finally get to see what’s behind that icy exterior, and spoiler: it’s a heart that’s been hurt, guarded, misunderstood, and just waiting for someone to see her—really see her. Her growth? Beautiful. Empowering. Real. Her journey wasn’t just romantic—it was powerful.

And then there’s Leo. Sweet, sexy, golden-retriever-energy Leo. The kind of man who shows up for you over and over again, even when you try to push him away. British accent, motorcycle, the patience of a saint, and let’s be honest—that office chemistry? Whew. He is exactly what Jacqueline needed, in all the ways she never thought she deserved. Their connection is fire and softness all wrapped in one. Total dreamboat. And the spicy scenes? Andrea balanced heat and heart like a pro. Major swoon.

Also—can we talk about how refreshing it is to see real-life things like therapy, sensory needs, workplace support, and incredibly healthy communication? The inclusion of neurodivergent and queer characters felt like a warm hug. It wasn’t just representation—it was GOOD representation.

This book gave me everything—depth, growth, heat, love, friendship, and a storyline that didn’t shy away from the messy parts of being human. It made me feel seen and celebrated. I’m already counting down the days till the next one drops.

If Andrea writes it, I’m reading it. Every. Single. Time.💘

Jaqueline has a reputation for being a prickly, reserved rule-follower. After a break-up with a toxic man, she decides to have a one-night stand to stretch her limits and shake things up, finding a gorgeous Brit named Leo at the bar who is ready and willing.

The night opens her eyes to all she was missing when with her (awful) ex, making her start to see herself as maybe something outside of the box everyone has put her in.

The next day when her hair is back up and her conservative blouse all buttoned up while in her respectable Human Resources manager role, who walks in for an interview but Leo. He's ready to relocate to the States to be closer to his cousin (who works at the small tech company) and is the perfect fit for the role.

His presence as a new hire throws her for a loop in deep ways, for she's working with a therapist on how she sees herself and the world, which were affected both by past experiences and how her brain works.

I appreciated that their story isn't tidy and comfortable all the way through. I don't want to give too much away, but I promise it's worth the ride.

Charming, steamy, moving, exciting, funny and empathetic, this sequel to WRITTEN BY A WOMAN was a winner for me.

Read the content warnings.

Read if you like:
Contemporary romance
Inclusive cast of characters in many ways
Forced proximity
Positive mental health rep
Office romance that tows the "forbidden" line
Empathy and grace
Clear, repeated, enthusiastic consent modeling

This was such a happy read for me. It features Jacqueline, who does not yet know she's autistic (by the end of the book she's figuring it out), so it really hit home for me. The first time we see Jacqueline head to the sensory room because she's overwhelmed, I locked in. As someone who's autistic herself, this book was so important to me because it showed someone who is clearly neurodivergent working in a successful business setting. So often, I see ND folks working in less rigid settings, in areas where they have a lot of control, and I get the impression that they can't be successful in more structured, traditionally corporate environments. But this book showed Jacqueline (and you) can be!

While there were parts of the spice and romance that were definitely possible-in-a-romance-book-but-not-realistic-for-real-life, it was still just really enjoyable to read. This one fell into the category of books that will get you out of your head for a little bit.

I won't lie, I can't say Leo was like, my favorite. But I will say that the way he forced Jacqueline to develop, I really liked. Like for once a man was sacrificed to move a woman's development forward.

My favorite quote:
"Letting me take care of you," Leo rasped, "Is taking care of me."

spoilers: truama relating to friendships, bullying, and previous abusive relationships of the emotional and mental kind are discussed heavily in this book.

the 2nd book was better than the first. for sureeee.

I feel like the characters are much more intense, you find out more about them as the group included in the wider bookverse they exist in together and this felt a cathartic read because I really resonate with the neurodivergent characters.

The FMC always feeling like she'll never be enough and that people will always expect her to fail or to be abandoned by people is something that just hit really hard to me after experiences recently in life and all my life really. Never really knowing why I felt outside of everything, like I never really had friends who wanted to stay friends with me.

Everyone in this book accepts the FMC for who she is, even if she isn't perfect and she makes mistakes. It healed something in me that is the hope one day I'll find people like this too.

Raunchiest scene: the desk, the workplace, the hotel being drip fed throughout the book 🥵🌶

MMC falling in love with her because of her stims and her specific way of doing things was a huge gratifying plot point for me.

what I need to know now is...whats Nicoles story? what about Taylor? Brandon? Mary and Jamie??? pleaaaase release their stories too 😭

😍😍😍😍😍/5 ooey-gooey romance

I knew once I started this book I wouldn’t be able to stop. Andrea’s writing pulls me in every single time.

Ice Queen HR meets Golden Retriever CTO and they do so many naughty things in her office, the same office she scolded the previous CTO in about a relationship with a coworker. Oops. Neither of them can help it, and it’s sexy and adorable.

Jacqueline’s character grew so much and she began to truly understand herself for the first time in this book. As someone with undiagnosed but highly suspected ASD, OCD, GAD…I related to her on so many levels, and found her story incredibly empowering.

Sweet baby Leo, Mary’s Hot British Cousin, is the perfect match for Jacqueline and takes care of her in so many ways that she deserves but never had before…in more ways than one.

I see the hints about some other characters Andrea… *grabby hands**

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

This book honestly melted me 🫠. I loved how the story approached neurodivergence, especially ADHD, in such a natural, respectful, and beautiful way. It didn’t feel forced, it felt real and that made it so enriching to read.

Jacqueline? Total force of nature. I admired her strength, her rules, her walls - and how we got to see them slowly crack. And Leo… well, fuck, Leo is the definition of a perfect book boyfriend 😍. Charming, patient, funny, and the kind of guy who makes you wish he’d walk out of the pages.

Also… let’s not forget: it was spicy 🌶️🥵. Just enough to keep me blushing and grinning at the same time.

The pacing was engaging, the romance was heartfelt, and I found myself smiling like an idiot more times than I’d like to admit 😅.

If you want a love story that’s sweet, a bit messy, spicy, and deeply human, this one’s for you.

Andrea has done it again! I loved the inclusion of neurodivergent and queer characters, especially in the world we live in today. It was very refreshing to see healthy communication, therapy, a sensory room in the office, and supportive female friendships.

I related a lot to Jacqueline and her inner voice, constantly telling her that she wasn't enough. And seeing how Vincent and his actions affected her views of herself and trust. And then walks Leo with his British accent, motorcycle, and "magic dick" 😉 I absolutely loved him and the spicy scenes were fantastic 🥵😈 🔥.

I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the other books featuring the side characters. 4.5 star rating ARC review

love!!!! I'm obsessed! It is so incredible to see the character growth tbat Jacqueline has from written by a women to this book. And to understand more into her behavior was so well done. also as a therapist, I adored the therapy scenes! they made my heart happy portraying such an accurate version of what therapy can be!

also Leo, was for sure written by a woman (i mean literally: obviously) but he is so amazing and I love the way he was able to respond and understand her needs prior any to any awareness of a diagnosis or label.

I am a big fan, would definitely recommend if you're looking for office romance, nuerodivergent rep, accurate therapy rep, beautiful girl friendships and character development, and a swoony mmc. oh and the spice is pretty good too ;)

This book is a perfect combination of tension and steam! I love how the author weaves the spicy scenes while the characters are pinning after each other even though one of them is in complete denial of their feelings - trying (and failing) to follow the rules.
While this novel is mostly romance, it also resembles ADHD and autism. As someone who struggles with ADHD myself, I saw myself in Leo and felt seen and heard, feeling like it was perfectly represented.
I highly recommend this novel if you're looking for a workplace romance where she's the grumpy in the grumpy x sunshine trope and HR is the one to break the rules.

STEM MMC: software engineer. This one was so good, so much better than Written by a Woman! You don’t need to read that book to get into this one, it can be read as a stand alone. The romantic connection between the MCs felt so much more substantial. Both MCs are neurodivergent and are just so accepting of each other as they are without explicitly being told about their individual issues or needs. It was all so very mature, and there was no third act breakup, which is the best! The FMC sees a therapist regularly, and there are so many great discussions surrounding therapy and what the FMC learns in therapy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was well written, good plot, and good spice.

SO AMAZING

I haven’t been reviewing books lately, because while I might have enjoyed them things weren’t groundbreaking for me. THIS HAS GOTTEN ME OUT OF THAT RUT. I so enjoyed Jaqueline and Leo’s story- it was beautiful to walk with J as she learned about herself, accepting her own needs and accepting the intimacy Leo was offering. And LEO IS LOVELY. I can decided which character I like better. I love how they both pushed themselves out of their comfort zones, and offered love, support, and fun to each other. I had really high expectations for the continuation of this series!

Leo, the green flag that has my heart.

So happy to read this one and how we get to explore more about Jacqueline! She was very interesting in the previous book and I enjoyed how in this story, we got to see her vulnerable side. I can definitely relate to a lot of her internal monologue and it was refreshing to read about her interactions with her therapist.

This book has all the tropes that I enjoy and I think it was written very well as a workplace romance. Hope to read more stories about Sun Steer Tech team in the future!

I loved this book a stupid amount. Leo is just a walking truck load of green flags but also really hot and bossy in the best way? He's giving Zafir Ansari (iykyk) a run for his money.
The kind of casual but perfect and poignant representation of queerness, neurodiversity, anxiety and HEALTHY adult friendships was just *sigh*.
This book literally made me squeal. And sigh. And snort. And happy. And sad. And horny. I felt all the feels.
And want to go to a naughties rave now, apparently.
Also: Jacqueline's playlist is on Spotify and it really is fire.

Cute love story, while tackling mental health, ADHD, possible autism, LGBTQ issues, etc.
Jacqueline and Leo were both very self aware and clearly good for each other. At times, I did feel like all the issues that were being tackled just seemed to be more of the point of the story, instead of woven in.
Also, at the end I felt like there were characters brought in to possibly feature in sequels, such as Violet/grumpy brother guy, and Taylor with ?

I loved reading Jacqueline’s story and seeing her grow so much. The world that Andrea has created is so inclusive and welcoming. Healthy communication between friends and partners and boundaries being respected. So glad I found Andrea’s work!

Just lovely

This was an amazing love story! I totally devoured it. It was so emotional but also spicy … I mean, really spicy.

Leo was such an easy guy to love.
Jacquline was so easy to root for.

I can’t summarize this but to say I just enjoyed it so much.

Also to note, the author did such a wonderful job writing someone with differences. Both characters.

I enjoyed this book but I wasn’t eager to keep reading. It felt really predictable and I didn’t fall in love with the main characters. If anything, I enjoyed the side characters more! I loved the inclusivity and representation of different kinds of people. Overall though, this book just felt kind of flat to me

I received this as an ARC.

She did it again! I loved this story. This is one of my top books for this author.

The spice is great, and all the men in her books are consent kings, and I love that!

10/10 recommend this book.
