The words, the words, the words!! They had me feeling every note that was sung, and every emotion of these characters! 😍
Imagine two immensely talented musical artists, who stray away from the limelight, nonsense, and drama, are put together for their labels gain. What is supposed to be a “fake” temporary arrangement, turns into so much more.
Sienna has a powerhouse voice, but the markets are changing, and she seemingly is being pushed to the background. Taraj, a soulful newcomer, is quiet, moves to the beat of his own drum, but is hot right now and making numbers. The label has the bright idea of pairing these two to bring a new energy and buzz to the label. While bringing relevance back to Sienna, and more exposure to Taraj.
Well, both Sienna and Taraj both are not for the games and pretending. If they do this, it must be on their own terms. During their first encounter, the chemistry is instant. They meet each other right where they are and can “see” and “feel” the passion and pain of the other. Not many words are spoken. It is as if they can look right into the soul of the other, knowing their story.
They both have strong feelings about what is happening so quickly but have no way to stop this out-of-control locomotive called emotions. How do you manage something so sacred in the public eye? Can it still be real when everyone around you is telling “your” narrative? SIREN by AJA...Right up front, I gotta say...I have pretty much loved everything Ms .Aja has written...her writing has always spoken to me...Now, as a 71 year old, white chick from SW Oklahoma, I can understand why someone may not believe that..but it's facts...I believe it just indicates Ms. Aja's widespread appeal..I have been reading and rereading her books since I first discovered Smoke..btw, Smoke is indirectly tied to Siren too...Smoke had a colleague/friend, Shine...if you've read Maestro or Shine, you will remember his son, Taraj, or Raj... Up to this point, we haven't known that much about him...and you don't have to read those books first to understand and enjoy Siren..💜🌼
So... Taraj is a rising star singer/songwriter/producer on the come up in the music business...His "people" have decided to give his career a boost, he should do a collab with THE Sienna Ray..a big star, who's starting to wonder if the best days of her career are behind her...neither Raj nor Sienna have asked for nor do they want this collab.... Their "people" run with it, anyway....and Raj and Sienna are thrown into each others' orbits...and it changes both of their lives...Taraj and Sienna will never be the same.. personally nor professionally...💜🌼
Let me say right here...Imo, writing chemistry is not an easy feat...I know it's not, because not all authors can do it well....and the reader can neither hear the characters' voices nor can we see the way they look at each other, so it's up to the author to make us hear and see all that...but Ms. Aja has figured it out...she writes chemistry better than maybe anyone I've read....When these 2 meet...you can feel the heat and attraction from the page..I, literally, said "whoa" out loud when they were put in the same room together...and the more you read, the hotter they get...💜🌼
One more thing..I love that Ms. Aja writes about intelligent, grown ass folks..there's no game playing or pettiness...and minimal conflict... I may have grown upset with Sienna a couple times...but I think that's probably because I've neither lived nor do I understand her life...I've never been famous...Folks don't automatically know who I am when they see me...and I haven't got a creative bone in my body...so, I gave her a pass...'Cause Sienna and Taraj....that chemistry is everything ...I loved this book...and I recommend it as I do all of Ms. Aja's work...

Ajaaaa! The way I ran through all 275 pages with barely any time to breathe must be studied! I was sitting here stunned; I’ve read quite a few books by Aja and this is hands down my favorite. I loved everything about this book!!! I’m a lover of music, a lover of love. And Sienna and Taraj were everything I needed - their undeniable chemistry, the way they went into their “situation” with an open mind, and how they were 100% all in with each other - was such a beautiful experience. The sexual tension and angst was done so well; I felt every single thing, as the characters did. The book is about Sienna, who was a platinum selling artist but her career has sort of stalled. The execs formed a creative plan to pair Sienna up with another artist, Taraj - who was a mystery man within himself. No one predicted the success of the idea, nor the fact that the “pretending” was over before it really got started. I am a sucker for fake dating but it makes a difference when both characters realize early on that they want more. It wasn’t all perfect, as Taraj started to feel like he was in the shadows of Sienna from the media. The climax brought a good balance to the story and I was eager to see how they overcame the situation. This was black love displayed openly, and I just love when characters are each other’s safe place to land.. beautiful job. ❤️

Poetic Love Story
Aja continues to evolve and a writer, and it is evident in this story. I am a lover of music and a lover of words. The author was able to sync music and words and created a poetic love story. Sienna and Taraj not only had chemistry but as the writer mentioned, they had gravity. For us science nerds, gravity is an attractive force and whew, what an attraction. I loved how visible they were to each other which was essential to their foundation. From there they had to overcome the obstacles that comes with being in the music industry. This beautiful love story gives hope that true love does exist and it does not require one to lose themselves but instead it does require transparency, honesty, and visibility. Well done!

SIENNA & TARAJ
I really enjoyed this story. What started out as a publicity stunt turned into something more. That attraction between Taraj and Sienna was undeniable, which showed in the beautiful melody and harmony of their music. They were so insync with each other that you had no choice but to love these two.

Reading the synopsis I was eager to begin the story of Sienna and Taraj, yet by the end all I felt was disappointment. Siren is a book that so desperately wanted to portray depth and somehow still managed to be egregiously shallow. The story could’ve been so much better if the author actually spent time developing the characters and delved deeper into the exploitation that the music industry requires.

"Love Without Performance"
A sensual, intimate, and sexy earthquake with music as the background of their musical love dance. It was definitely musical, as characteristics of music were used as metaphors, being the lyrics to their dance.
Neither had anticipated this tsunami of feelings and the outcome, but were accepting of it once they realized that feeling beating in their hearts and souls was not going away. I loved Sienna and Taraj. I loved the time taken to sample and cultivate their love story/song.
They were a whole damn song!

I definitely judge books by their covers....Sue me 🤷🏾♀️ This cover.....does this story absolutely no justice! this was a beautifully love song. Yes love song!! It was poetic and rhythmic. This was a first time read by this author. I'll definitely be reading more!
