Ella Wilson, a traveling hospice nurse, takes a job in a small town, caring for a stroke patient in a house steeped in unsettling secrets. The patient’s son warns her about his charming but dangerous brother, yet it’s the house itself that seems to hold the darkest truths. As Ella digs deeper into the family’s past, she uncovers a connection to her own life that shakes her to the core. The revelations force Ella to face a part of herself she never knew existed. Some secrets refuse to stay buried—and this one could cost her everything.
I haven’t read a book this awful in a long time. The dialogue is atrocious, and the medical information (hospice, duties of a hospice nurse) is completely inaccurate. I finished it just to make my yearly quota but I wouldn’t wish this book on anyone.
The editor that wrote the teaser for this book should have written the book itself. That brief paragraph is more well written than the entirety of this novel.
I definitely did not start this series in order, and it has multiple authors. This is the story of Ella, a young hospice nurse who travels to care for her patients. She has taken a job with Lucas Woods, an elderly man who has suffered a stroke. He has two sons, Rob and Mason, Mason being the more responsible. Ella begins to hear things in the home, and see things, within the house, and discovers that Lucas' wife, and Rob and Mason's mother disappeared several years ago. As Ella wonders if she can help this family with their grief, and maybe find out the circumstances of why thier home seems to be haunted, everything will be okay.....It is NOT OKAY,,,,,,good read, great atmosphere, and a strong enough mystery to keep you reading well into the night.
A nice page turner that kept me on the edge if my seat. I did not see the outcome of the book. I love the twist! Ghosts have secrets that some eventually share.
The book should have been edited. The majority of the book was just paragraphs that repeated themselves. The last 2 chapters were the only part of the book that was readable. It was hard to get through the story I had to skim over a lot of it to get past the repetition.
Overall, it was a good book. I noticed a few times it repeated itself which was kind of annoying. Wasn’t scary/thriller-ish at all imo. I also prefer can’t go to sleep at night type books and this didn’t do it for me.
I don't j usually write reviews, given that every person has different perspectives. I find myself pondering whether i should add my two cents, sleep here we go.
Total lackluster, I finished reading this just to be done with it. I can't think of another instance in which the protagonist was this boring. It kinda made me glad at the end, how she was gone.
