Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides #4

Wanted by the Alien Warden

Rate this book
A rough and tumble alien warden, a curvy human woman who refuses to be cowed, and the temptation that turns both their worlds upside down...I've worked so hard to establish the human-Zabrian mail-order bride program. I think I've done a pretty good job, too. Until a bombshell gets
The ranching outpost planet I've sent the human brides to is a penal colony. Their new alien husbands?
Convicted murderers.

In a panic, I rush to Zabria Prinar One to ensure the safety of the three brides. There, I come face-to-face with the arrogant (and astoundingly hot) alien warden. Warden Tenn is the most infuriatingly cocky adversary I ever could have imagined. He's a brash, swaggering male who seems to delight in bending rules...
And breaking down my walls.

He offers to take me into the neighbouring province to meet the other unmarried men. It's an attempt to persuade me to allow the bride program to continue. I don't trust him one bit as our rustic road trip gets underway.

Especially since his eyes grow white and hungry when he looks at me.
Especially since his voice softens to warm smoke when he speaks to me.

And especially since he only brought one tent.

The secret is out.

The bride program that Tasha proudly runs has hit a slight snag as she learns the “horrible” truth about the planet that she’s been sending excited bride candidates to. Planet Zabria doesn’t just house ranchers. Those ranchers are actually convicted murderers.

Good thing these alien “criminals” have a heart of gold, imprisoned as children for merely self defense, their culture strictly black and white when it comes to their laws. Good thing they also have a champion in Warden Tenn as Tasha arrives to make sure the 3 previous brides she sent are healthy and whole. Watch out as these two clash, trying to protect those under their care!

This continues to be an enjoyable series, delivering on the feel good sappy romance, mate bonding, humorous cultural miscommunication, possessive males, and a nice side of smexy!

3.5 stars rounded down after sleeping on it

This series is still a comfort read with adorable characters and scenarios. I loved getting time with the prior characters and the set up for additional future leading guys too. It did seem like because of the time with these other characters, that there was a little less time with the main characters only as the focus. I also felt like the romance here was only partially developed and the ending felt rushed.

Written in first person, multi-POV (a couple POV chapters from side characters who’ll be future MMCs). No ow/om drama and I both were experienced having each had a bad prior relationship that negatively affected them.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ FMC in a position to decide the future of the mate program
☆ MMC trying to convince her of the good of the males and the program
☆ Unhappy FMC when she arrives on planet
☆ Somewhat stern and caretaking MMC
☆ Side character revisiting
☆ Still some LOL moments about the extra equipment
☆ New character intros
☆ Slow burn
☆ Protectiveness and hurt/comfort

Like the other characters before them, Tasha (h) and Tenn (H) are likable and sweet. This is still my least favorite book unfortunately, because they’re kind of at odds for a good part of the story with Tasha putting the colony under a microscope, looking for faults and Tenn actively trying to convince her of the safety and happiness it offers. They’re both also trying to learn about each other’s race while sorting this all out and lust sneaks into the mix, complicating their interactions further. There are some times when Tasha and Tenn are alone and getting familiar with each other, but there seemed to be more time where they were surrounded by others. I could understand why they were into each other, but by the end, I didn’t feel like the “I love you’s” made sense with the pacing and progression.

This is a slow burn and there are a couple of steamy scenes late in the book. Some emotional intimacy develops on page, however I felt like the story fell short in this aspect too. The reader knows about Tasha’s toxic ex and her background, but I can’t recall her sharing that info really with Tenn. He does get vulnerable with her about how he ended up being a warden and it’s always evident how much he cares for the males under his watch.

The adorable scenes that I consider a hallmark of this series now are present and some lovely female bonding too, with the prior FMCs and Tasha. Kudos to Ursa Dax for making each of the males distinctive. I can’t wait for the next installment and to see what happens with the other future MMCs that we got to spend time with in this book.

The ending didn’t quite hit the right note for me. An admission and a dangerous situation both arise for the climax. Loved seeing one of the males in action in a way we haven’t gotten to see in the series yet. However, it was rushed and even though the HEA was cute, there wasn’t much time spent with them as an established romantic couple. We know they’ll be working together in the future, which is discussed, I think that would have been nicer to see on page at the end perhaps with Tasha screening for the next batch of brides. This series reminds me a little of Risdaverse where I know I’m getting an entertaining and adorable read, that’ll make me laugh, hit some feels, and some of them I’ll probably connect with more than others.

First of all, I LOVE that these hunky alien cowboys all know how to sew and are hand-sewing clothing for their wives.

I enjoyed this book, and it’s still a super fun read. However, I felt like the relationship was lacking a bit of depth compared to the other books. The connection between Tasha and Tenn developed quickly at the end and didn’t have enough time to really grow and breathe.

update 11/29/25
I just wanted to come back and add to this review after reading books 5, 6, and 7. Even though this book wasn't my favorite of the series, I still LOVE these characters. The warden and his wife play such a big role in later books too, so even though we didn't get a lot of the developed relationship in this book, we see it in later books! Sooooo I'm bumping this up to 4 stars, because their story doesn't end here with this book.

Tasha and Tenn were cute together and had their fair share of banter. Tasha was an anxious people pleaser with a lot of determination. Tenn was dedicated to his men and their happiness and very blunt. Their love story moved really quickly after the whole “only one tent” thing. I would have loved a little more background on both characters. However, they did know the broad strokes of one another’s pasts so they could see a full picture. I reaaallllyyyyy want Xennet’s book!

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: neglectful foster care (historical), familial estrangement, discussion of murder, child incarceration

This man was so down bad for her. Need this in my life fr.

I wish that it had been a little bit longer, all things considered. It felt like their relationship progressed a little too quickly, with not enough details in between. Like, for example, he could’ve continued on his theme asking for guidance as he was reading the human women anatomy book. It felt rushed at the end.

That said, I did enjoy it a lot anyway.

I received this book as an ARC but it's been one of my most anticipated releases.

It did not disappoint! Warden is so hilarious and genuine and I absolutely loved his no nonsense behaviour. He really cares for the boneheads he is the warden for and you can tell they care for him too.

Absolutely loved how he treated Tasha. Telling her straight what his feelings were and open, adult, communication? Love it.

It was so great to see more of the planet and meet new characters as well. I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Also genuinely hilarious. So many scenes had me laughing out loud.

"When you're hurting, you tell your warden. That's your most important duty. That's your job."

"Fixing it is mine."

Ursa Dax delivers another fun and addicting alien romance with Wanted by the Alien Warden. It has the perfect mix of slow-burn tension, sweet reassurance, and just the right amount of humor to make the story shine.

-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-♡-

Warden Tenn takes his job seriously. He’s responsible for making sure the human brides are safe and properly matched on his colony. Tasha, on the other hand, works on Elora Station, preparing and sending the brides to the Zabrian colony. When rumors surface that some of the aliens may have dark pasts, she feels responsible for checking on them herself. That’s how she ends up traveling across Zabrian territory with Tenn, where close quarters and constant clashing start to spark something neither of them saw coming.

What I really enjoyed was how their romance unfolded. It’s very much a slow burn, the kind that simmers beneath every moment until it finally boils over at the end… and trust me, it’s worth the wait. Their banter, the forced proximity, and the tension made every step of the journey more fun to read.

The humor in this one also had me smiling, especially the Zabrians’ mispronunciations of human words. Tenn’s ongoing battle with the word pajamas was hilarious and such a cute touch that made him feel more real. (like cmon… jamborees?? jammeronis??? hilarious 😂)

But the best part for me was Tenn himself. I love when the hero falls first, and Tenn absolutely does. He’s protective, devoted, and constantly reminding Tasha that she’s more than enough. That mix of strength and tenderness is exactly what makes these alien romances so addictive.

If you’re looking for a story that’s funny, sweet, and full of tension that pays off in the end, Wanted by the Alien Warden is a great pick. It’s another reminder why I ALWAYS keep coming back to Ursa Dax’s books—they never fail to hit the right balance when I’m wanting a great mmc 💗💗

"You... What?"

"Technically the first night," he amended, gently gathering all my hair together in one hand. "In the spare bedroom at Fallon's ranch. When I watched you take those pins out of your hair. It spilled all over your shoulders. Just so astoundingly beautiful. I was dying to touch it."

A hilarious alien romance between two grumps who use verbal sparring as flirting, but ultimately flat in both depth and pacing.

💜human x alien romance
🧡grumpy x grumpy
💜he falls first
🧡lust at first sight
💜only one tent

Wanted by the Alien Warden by Ursa Dax is Book 4 in the Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides series, stories that follow different human and alien couples as they navigate through a marriage pairing space program. This book is a little different than the first 3 in that the main couple aren’t participants in the marriage program, but rather between Tenn, the alien warden of the penal colony Zabria Prinar One, where the books take place, and Tasha, the woman acting as a human-zabrian liaison and head of the marriage program.

Even before Tasha’s arrival on the planet, it seems as though Warden Tenn admired her from afar, through the Comms screen. And once Tasha she’s Warden Tenn in person, the physical attraction is instantly mutual. However, Tasha is there to do a job – investigating the marriage program and deciding its fate, particularly after learning the husbands of the human brides are convicted murderers – and she won’t be swayed by the hard-headed alien warden and his attempts to confuse her feelings – and her hormones.

While Wanted by the Alien Warden definitely has the telltale heart and humor I love this series for – it’s a comfort alien romance for sure – I will admit this is my least favorite entry of the bunch. It kept me laughing throughout, but aside from those feelings, I wasn’t really getting much else, particularly in the romance department. Try as I might, I wasn’t getting any depth or chemistry between Tasha and Warden Tenn. Their romance seemed somewhat formulaic, hitting traditional marks all the way through, without really meaning them. I actually found the love confession scene toward the end super jarring, like it came out of nowhere. That last 25% entirely felt a little rushed and even confusing at times.

I really loved the introduction to the other warden and alien convicts in another province. There’s Warden Hallum, and then 3 convicts, Rivven, Xennet, and Dorn. They each had individual and unique personalities and I’m SO excited to see which human women they get paired up with. And I’m excited for the potential of so many more entries to the series.

However, with Oaken’s book coming next, and assuming the last province 1 convict Zohro coming after that, I thought there was WAY too much time spent with the new convicts when their books are more down the line. That page-time could’ve been much better used developing the romance between the actual main characters, Tasha and Warden Tenn.

I love this series for its heart and humor. The pairing of the human women and Zabrian males, and seeing what personalities are put together, is a true highlight and delight when reading this series. There has been something new offered every time, a new personality mix, a new storyline, even on the same planet. Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides is a huge win for the alien romance community. Thank you Ursa Dax!

Oaken’s book next!

I also adore these book covers. Please keep them coming.

My Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides series ratings:

#2 Wrangled by the Alien Rancher - 4✨
#3 Resisting the Alien Rider - 3.75✨
#4 Wanted by the Alien Warden - 3.5✨

This was cute but compared to the other books it's the weakest one IMO. My biggest issue was the insta-love and how fast the ending felt. Tenn is such a fun character and I really wanted more from his book.

MY THOUGHTS AFTER READING:

- I wish we had more of a buildup for Tasha and the warden in other books, that could have given us more of a basis for their sexual tension. It's clear he's attracted to her, but it feels like he's just that way because she's an option / the only unmatched woman he's ever met (all the other women were "promised" to his men so not even an option).

- Tasha was an ok character but she kind of annoyed me tbh. She refused to believe that the women were happy and she gets mad at Tenn for keeping something from her .... When it's literally not a big deal at all. She's also kind of unprofessional IMO. Like she knows these guys lives / future happiness is held in her hands and it's only after they do something to help her that she's all "they're amazing - you get a bride!". Of course that's not the case, but if she has bonded with them more and was shown to be more favorable towards them initially that would have helped.

- I love Tenn as a character but I really wanted to see more character growth and romance progression. We see him being a bit of a hard ass but devoted to caring for and helping his men. In this book he kind of falls flat. He's self conscious, super sweet and the whole bramble hedge thing was a bit silly to me. Also, I didn't get a sense for why he falls for Tasha, aside from the fact she's attractive to him, they barely get along and don't have much in common. I love a cinnamon roll lead but this felt too syrupy for the hard, no nonsense warden we got in the other books. He's brushing her hair, coming in his pants, sewing her clothes, helping with her book and she's just kind of there.

- the romance needed WAY more to fully bloom to be honest. To start they are totally at odds and reading the wrong signals in each other's behaviors and that causes communication issues. Tasha's prickly and a bit annoying about him not having read her book and Tenn can't seem to communicate or talk to her but then BOOM in the middle of something bad happening while they're fighting they're in love?? That just sounds like a trauma bond or a honeymoon phase or something tbh. Like yeah maybe they feel in love for a bit, but you guys literally had the worst communication up until 5 mins ago. You haven't talked, worked out the issues or gotten on the same page but cool, now everything is roses and sex? It just didn't work for me.

- the ending was WAY too convenient! Seriously, right when they're fighting something happens? Oh then everyone happens to be around to help? And boom when things get bad in walks a character that is like the only one on the planet who can assist? It's just too fast and kind of felt rushed. We do get an epilogue of sorts but what's the relationship going to look like. We know they get together but is she still keeping her job, does she need to be away for that while facilitating the program? Where will they live? She's just a liaison, does she have the authority to set up new branches or make changes to the program since she's only had the job a few months? etc.

- we NEEDED more smut. There was smut in this one but it's like some oral and masturbation here and there and we don't get the dirty stuff until the end.

- I did really love how we're getting new characters!!! I loved Rivven, the bartender and saloon owner coping with disability / losing his hand and Zohro, the prickly surgeon. I can't wait to hear more about them and hopefully get more of the first books we know and love!!

Great books to read with your brain turned off. This is one of those "if you read one you read them all"... But I did read them all. So, that's that... Review to come with more details, or probably not because I forget about my Rtc very often! But the rec it's still here.

Hilarious Alien Cowboy Romance

🤠 Bookish Thoughts
I’m seriously addicted to this series! Each book just keeps getting funnier! 🤣

This one gave us more worldbuilding (finally!) and I loved seeing cameos from the first three books. The group chat was hilarious!
I didn’t realize we’d be introduced to new Alien cowboys either, which makes me even more excited to continue the series!! I already have new favorites!

I really enjoyed the slow burn between Tasha and Tenn, and the last chunk of the book was packed with excitement. I do wish it had been a couple chapters longer, the ending felt a little rushed but I’m still all in for the next one!

💛 Read if you love:
• One horse trope 🐎
• One tent 😏
• Road trip shenanigans
• Curvy FMC
• Cinnamon roll MMC

I graciously received this eARC from Ursa and I’m forever grateful!🥹 This was my first ARC ever and the most perfect one for me as you probably all know I love scifi romance and am obsessed with all Ursa’s books. Not just her alien cowboys. 🛸 Fun Fact: Did you know Ursa draws these covers herself?? Isn’t that amazing?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I devoured this book in one sitting. I loved the banter between the characters! It made me CACKLE so hard! I related so much to the Tasha; her need to help and look out for others, her trying to do her very best job and to get approval from others, putting a confident front when you’re actually nervous with sweaty palms. And the Warden just melted my heart.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this book, we also got to see more of the world that they are on and more characters in this universe. I LOVED the plot development and how it is set up (hopefully) for many future stories in this series. And who could go wrong with the only one horse (shuldu) and only one tent tropes! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
**Mild spoiler** (I personally hope that Hallum gets his own book!! 😈) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyways, go read this book immediately so we can talk about it. Thanks 😘 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I still enjoyed it, so I'm rounding up my rating for this one.

But, ngl, Tasha's judgmental side and her tendency to jump to the worst conclusions took away some of the fun I was having. 🥲

I love Tenn, though—actually, I loooove all these cowboys and the way they treat their women. These are the green flags worth reading and spending time on.

Anywaaaay, can't wait for the release of Oaken's book this week. 🤭

Regresamos 🤠

Tenn loved me. He wanted me. The sight of me in my wedding dress – the one he was making for me – was enough to drive him out of his mind.

I’ve been waiting for Warden Tenn’s book and it was good! Although, I think it could’ve been a bit more. The romance and even spice were just a little too slow for me. BUT, Tenn was obsessed with her from the start and would do anything for her!!🥹

Am I even shocked that this was amazing? NOPE! Every book in the series just continues to outdo itself. I loved their dynamic, and the climax of the story was actually perfect for them. I am elated we got to meet the other colony of men!!! I’m already a diehard for Rivven🥰😭

The humor in the series just never ceases to amaze me. It always makes me laugh, even if it’s so silly. The men not understanding human anything and taking everything so literal will never get old. I want this series to go on for 7000 books!!!!

🔥 🔥

Just like the rest of this series, this is an adorable and fun read.

Warden Tenn is the ultimate grump on the outside, softie on the inside. He’s super protective of his men and acts all tough but he just wants love like everyone else. I don’t know what you would call the back and forth between Tasha and Tenn. Not really enemies or rivals, but the two definitely butt heads a lot, mostly because of holding shit inside. It’s frustrating but their funny banter makes up for it.

Really enjoying this series and excited to see new characters brought in. I could read a story about them all 🤩
