Killstreme is back! Women have known the world is a dangerous place. Men are now seeing just how dangerous the world can be for them too. Wyatt fucked around. Harlow let him know just how unhinged and deadly the consequences are these days. With a little help from the Killstreme trio, we discover all that was brewing inside Harlow.
Rayne lives in the Arizona desert, free to leave her house whenever she wants, she chooses not to risk death by sweltering sun demons. Instead, she stays safely indoors with a computer and all the words she knows, slapping them together in any which way she chooses in the moment. Often gory, sometimes erotic. She loves the limitless boundaries of writing, and tends to push them toward extreme.

ooffff and then some. This book almost broke me. Every time I read one of Rayne Havok’s stories, I know I will either need a lot of tissues or a pillow to punch. For this short novella I needed both. Everything she writes, it just hits hard. As a woman I appreciate the topics she writes about. Topics some writers won’t even address or touch. This is absolutely the first time I read about the difference of rapes. How we rate them. I cried so hard that it isn’t even funny. Something I thought about for years but never said it out loud. I felt like the author was inside of my head. And I needed that so bad. That someone else saw it the same way.
This is a very, very dark story. It’s about a rape, an unwanted pregnancy, our new laws that restrict so many woman in this country, and what a dark place this can take us. It’s an important story to tell. Paired with 3 other woman that had their own stories told in previous novellas. Rayne took a hiatus from writing for a while and she came back swinging. Like SWINGING. She wanted to make sure it hurt. I hope she will continue to write these kind of stories (and other topics) because she is just the best and honestly, her stories are better than therapy.
I honestly didn’t know I needed this story. But I did. And now I’m crying for Harlow. For me and all the other woman going through this madness called life. Ruled by humans not like us, to rule over us and against us.
Side note, where do I find woman like Brin, Casey, and Fiona? Where are these kind of woman that will help you, no matter what. I am jealous now.
This book really tugged at my heartstrings and that's unusual for a Rayne Havok book. Even though somewhat gory and bloody at times the contents were soul destroying to read and take in. Hurt, pain and sorrow mixed with brutality is the best way to describe this story. Well written and kept me interested and right on the edge of my seat throughout. There are trigger warnings here... mainly nonconsensual sex...so it may not be a suitable book for everyone 😞
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐'s for another excellent reading experience.
First off, Rayne Havok is my favorite extreme horror author so I will read anything she writes. As soon as I saw this was coming out it immediately became my next read. This book was intense but not from the beginning. It built up and you knew it was gonna be bad and it was. It hit on every emotion. Fear, anger, sadness and disgust. Rape is vile and nobody should ever have to experience it and then learn to live with it. Rayne did an excellent job in describing Harlow’s emotional and her physical downspiral.
My heart hurts after reading this book. I am one of the lucky women who hasn't had something too traumatic happen to me so I can only really react to this book in the hypothetical, but the author did such a fantastic job of conveying what I assume must be one of the hardest things to deal with and recover from, the dread, anger, and fear were all so horrifying and anger-inducing that I felt sad and furious while reading this book. The spiral of insanity that Harlow goes through is described so well that I was right there with her, confused and angry as fuck. The ending..... ohhhh my days, the ending, I loved it, and I really, really enjoyed seeing the group of bad bitches do what needs to be done and how things turned out, Harlow is a great character who is a fucking superwoman. Now I need to feed my female ancestry by reading more tales of feminine rage.
Harlow works at a bank, has her own place, and lives a pretty normal and quiet life. The only strange thing in her life is her neighbour, Wyatt. He shows up at her job and bumps into her as much as he can. Freaked out, Harlow tells her best friend and doesn't think much of it. She lets her guard down at the very worst moment. Then things take a dark turn.
This really put me in my feels. We are currently living this book in real life. What happens to Harlow is sad and sadly happens to so many women around the world daily. You really feel for Harlow as you read about her struggles and trying to live a normal life after something so traumatic. This is a great book to read. This is one that I'll be thinking about for a bit
I don’t know how to review this one, keep it spoiler free, and sans cussing. This one wrecked me. It wasn’t at all what I expected it to be, but it was exactly what it needed to be.
It’s the dawning of a new age. Time to usher in a Killstreme revival. This one’s gonna leave a mark.
Shi. Pronounced “she”. Representing both “four” and “death”.
Here’s hoping Fi gets her own one-shot once the stream’s ready to go live
Thank you Rayne for writing this and all the other stories you write that include empowered women getting revenge!!! This is what we all needed right now ❤️
This short story is exceptionally dark. Touching on SA and unwanted pregnancies. the consequences of abortion for women and those who take the risk to try and support women to make a choice about their own body is incredibly heavy. I would honestly like to see more in this series.
I could regurgitate what was said here, but I cant do it as well as Rayne did.
As a male, we can only sympathize with the plight of women and what they go through. This provided a deeper look into the reality for entirely too many women.
I'm not going into the political aspect, because those who agree with me will do so and Im not changing the minds of those who dont.
But, this book made me feel a frustration that I have no doubt is only a microcosm of what women have to deal with.
Terrifying and brutal. Why? Because this could be reality. In a way it is. This story will pump you full of anxiety, twist your heart into knots and it's going to live in your mind for a long long time.
I had to DNF on page 31 because the writing was so horrible. Why use parentheticals to give the $10 word name of something when you already described it or used a $1 word? It comes off as elitist but it doesn’t work when your writing isn’t good. There were misused contractions where the tense didn’t match up. I just can’t handle these extreme horror writers who just are not decent writers. Get a fucking editor!
Let me start by saying this: if you haven’t dipped your delicate little toes into Rayne’s wicked world, you’re doing yourself a massive disservice. I first stumbled upon her work through the goddess Yolanda, and honey, I’ve never looked back. The Killstreme series? Obsessed. So much so, I bought Your Body, My Choice twice. Why? Because when a book slaps that hard, you double down.
Now, fair warning: Rayne’s books are not for the faint of heart. These stories are raw, bloody, unapologetically brutal—with just the right touch of eroticism to make the men squirm (and not in the fun way). If that’s not your vibe, toodles! Go read something softer. For the rest of you, buckle up.
Let’s talk about Harlow. Her story is painfully reflective of the world we’re navigating right now. Without dropping spoilers, let me just highlight this absolute mic-drop of a line:
“And then I said, ‘Your body, my choice, right, asshole?’”
Chef’s kiss. That line alone gave me a little more oxygen to breathe in this suffocating world. Rayne pours so much fiery passion into her writing, you’ll find yourself rooting for the “villain” (who, let’s be real, is actually the hero we deserve).
And now, with Brin assembling her own squad of badassery, I can already hear the screams of those who wronged her. Sweeties, the carnage that’s coming? It’s going to be magnificent.
So, do yourself a favor and grab Killstreme, Casey’s Revenge, and Your Body, My Choice. Then devour them. Twice. Like I did. Rayne’s storytelling is addictive, delicious, and dangerous in all the right ways.
This book was quite scary—not in a gory or horror-filled way, but in the realization that these events happen to women in real life. The emotions and the main character's breakdown were portrayed in a truly heartbreaking manner. However, I absolutely loved the ending!
I read this book based off a recommendation. I do not give Novellas high ratings usually and this is a high rating in my opinion for a Novella. I just feel like normally they cannot grab your attention and close out a story in that short amount of time. This book did that for me, this book was very powerful. The whole thought process that the female character is going through after what happens to her written so well. The concept that there’s levels to it is insane, but it is true that people think that. I’m also talking in a roundabout way I don’t wanna get flagged in this review. This book will definitely go on recommendations list. I will recommend this to anybody looking for a powerful Ovella as well as top female rage recommendations.
Your Body, My Choice: Killstreme: Harlow by Rayne Havok
O. M. G.
This was a perfect book to read for Women's History Month!
Harlow is drugged and raped, leaving her with emotional trauma, doubt, fear... and an unwanted pregnancy. After confronting her attacker, Harlow goes into a 30-day treatment program. During therapy, she finds her voice and is able to finally share her story. Before leaving the treatment center, she makes a friend in Brin, one of her counselors.
Harlow goes back home but naturally doesn't feel safe anywhere she goes. Her worst fears are confirmed as her nightmare plays out again.
This is a work of Splatterpunk in its purest form. The gore is reserved entirely for the purposely over-the-top conclusion; blood and guts are not the focus of this novella. The point here is education.
There is so much more that I want to say about this book, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
This is not only an incredibly well written work by an author with obvious talent; it is an important work as a marking point to where we are in the march of Women's History.
“Your body, my choice” has become the slogan that should never have been. But Rayne Havok twisted it into one of the best revenge tales ever.
Harlow seems to have a normal life. Normal job, normal best friend, normal cat, normal creepy guy who won’t leave her alone. Y’know, the life of the average woman.
But this guy was more than weird and annoying. No, he took away the one thing that anyone holds sacred: the ownership of Harlow’s body. And after the positive pregnancy test, she has to carry that desecration for nine months.
Or does she?
As with every Havok book, I knocked this out in one night. After having dealt with two stalkers and being a survivor of similar things that happened to Harlow, this book was a triggering read, to say the least. I was expecting the worst at the end but…it was more than satisfying.
For those not familiar with Havok, read Killstreme before this one. It’s not a direct sequel but it has the same characters, so the ending will make a lot more sense. Oh and the ending of this book hinted at a sequel. I’ll definitely be reading that…and everything else this feminist splatter genius releases.
Being a female is inherently terrifying most of the time. You're too much, not enough, a stereotype, something to tame, or something to break. You learn to rely on intuition, and Harlow's is telling her that her neighbor Wyatt is dangerous. But he's polite and well-mannered, and you can't report someone for a feeling, right?
But when Harlow wakes up in bed one morning, disheveled and sore, she realizes to her horror that she's been drugged and assaulted. The reader is spared the details of what happened while she was unconscious, but when she realizes she's missed her period, Harlow knows with certainty that this was not her choice, and she will not bear the consequences of someone else's actions. What happens next is absolute carnage, and I would love to see more of this story unfold. At just around 78 pages, the author brilliantly captures the rage, the injustice, and the complexities of being someone who is seen merely as a vessel.
This book is available now on KU and in paperback.
“no matter the type of rape, the aggression used to overpower, or the bruises or lack thereof, it’s all rape.”
I don’t really have a review for this book, it’s scary how this is happening out here everyday of every minute and nothing serious is being done about it, it pisses me off that WE as woman should be grateful that it haven’t happened to us yet, that we’re lucky but try to stop it for happening and WE are in the wrong
“It’s a he-said-she-said thing. And the “she” can’t fucking say anything for her side.”
Honestly if it was up to me no man would have a dick but would that actually stop them for trying to overpower us?
“How he took the safety of my home away from me too. Not only did he invade my body but he'd made my own home an unsafe space”
I would’ve loved to see Harlow pov of the revenge in full bloody detail because it’s what I needed right now
I picked this up because I wanted a 'good for her' and feminine rage book. Holy shit, Rayne Havok fucking delivered! Your Body, My Choice talks about the realistic fears that women have regarding r@pe and @bortion, especially in today's society. The vigilante queens help rid the world of men who make the world a worse place and force women into fear. While reading, I could feel Havok's rage bleed from the pages. I became pissed for Harlow because what happens to her is all too real of a situation. Watching her fall apart and become nothing more than a shell of herself is devastating, but watching her regain her power was phenomenal, and I am going to backtrack and read book one of the Killstreme series.
Your Body, My Choice is an emotional, disturbing story about the trauma of sexual assault. While powerful in parts, the narrative partly feels repetitive, with real horror only appearing briefly at the end. The strong feminist tone sometimes drifts into generalizations about men, making it feel slightly unbalanced.
This was a good story. Obviously, very heavy content in this story if you read the synopsis or I guess even just read the title. But I think that we need more stories like this one in today’s political climate. It’s a very terrifying thing that is happening right now. And I know for me, personally, reading a good revenge story from time to time helps 🤷🏻♀️
Loved how real this was and that it captured the feelings women feel after experiencing SA. I liked the message that it gave especially during today's climate where people care more about unborn fetuses than women's bodies.
4 ⭐️ (Need to think about the rating for a bit.) I’ll always enjoy reading a book full of feminine rage and women getting their revenge. I liked this a lot - and just this little series of novellas in general.
