Picture this: I’m juggling a 60-hour workweek, wrangling three acres of Texas land, and trying to be the best husband, father, and-my favorite title-Grandpa. And then, on a complete whim, I dove headfirst into the world of storytelling.

It all began with a simple Ancestry DNA test and a family tree that brought my Scottish roots roaring to life. Suddenly, I was obsessed with all things Scottish and Irish, especially the legendary Battle of Culloden. One day, as I was about to step into the shower, a wild thought struck me: What if the Jacobites had advanced weapons at Culloden? That spark became a blaze-imagine a 150-man Scottish Highland regiment, trained for modern warfare, suddenly transported back in time, one week before the fateful battle.

When I shared the idea with my son, he just shook his head and said, “Dad, I want whatever it is you’re smoking.” (I promise, it’s just imagination!)

Now, with two books published and at least two more on the way in this thrilling series, I’m living proof that it’s never too late to chase your wildest dreams-or to rewrite history, one page at a time.

From the very first chapter, this book had me completely locked in. The tension surrounding Scotland after Culloden is written with such realism that I felt the weight of every looming threat. Watching Derek and Connor McAndrew along with Ian McKenzie attempt to build a modern army out of an 18th-century nation was honestly one of the most fascinating parts of the story. The industrial push in Inverness, the race against time, the pressure of an unstoppable invasion it all felt alive.
The political mystery elevated the book even more. Lord John Stuart’s secrets, Zephyr’s shadowy presence, and the terrifying force of “Brutal” Borumborad kept the story unpredictable from start to finish. And the road to Falkirk? That was pure cinematic tension. This book doesn’t just tell a story it reshapes history in a way that feels bold, fresh, and incredibly immersive.
