She’s a pop star who lost her way. He’s a billionaire cowboy returning home to run the family ranch. When help is needed, it’s not him she turns to—but it’s him she gets in the end.
Connie Jo
“I have a plan!” That’s my life’s motto, and yet I wonder why nothing works out as intended. Oh yeah, it’s because my ideas are wild and should never be tried at home or without supervision.
When I asked my teenage crush to fake date me to fend off a stalker, I should have known that my attempt to gain his attention would be ignored. To make matters worse, he pawns me off on his twin brother—my childhood best friend.
Hayden and I were two peas in a pod but had eventually drifted apart. It’s why I can no longer tell the twins apart. And when my “fake” date doesn’t show, and Hayden steps in? It becomes impossible to deny that the wrong twin might end up being the right one after all.
Hayden
I’ve loved one woman in my life, but was friend-zoned after a sloppy kiss when we were ten. Apparently, tasting like soggy potato chips isn’t the way to a girl’s heart.
With my brother, the stud, and me, the spud, I stood back in the shadows and watched Connie Jo pine after him for years. Then he makes a deal to be her fake boyfriend, and all my hope goes up in smoke.
But…he has a plan! I’m to take his place and fill in as her partner for cornhole tournaments and date to a New Year’s bash. This is my chance to show Connie Jo I’m not the wrong twin but her Mister Right.
Will I win her heart or get cornholed in the end?

super cute read! my favorite part about it was that it was Christian which always makes me smile and some of the things said regarding God and his plan really resonated with me. my two favorite lessons were 1) God is not in the business of making money 2) if you're not doing something to glorify God then what is the point?
also the romance between Connie Jo and Hayden was sweet but at times I was frustrated with how they were acting but that made it all the sweeter when they finally got together.
Connie Jo is a famous singer who goes home to Baggersville, TX to hide from a stalker. Hayden is home to help on the family ranch after his father had a stroke.
Hayden has been in love with Connie Jo since he remember but she wanted his brother.
This is was a quick enjoyable read. I like how the Bible verses are part of the story. They are forced or feel out of place. They blend into the plot really well. I didn’t trust the manager from the beginning. He came across has though Connie Jo had to do exactly what he said. I like the way she came to realize that her feelings for Hunter were nothing compared to what she felt for Hayden. She just had to admit it to herself.
Connie Jo is a singer who has attracted an unwanted stalker she is beginning to fear. She decides to return home for a break, and asks Hunter, one of the twins who lived at the ranch near her, if he would pretend to be her fake boyfriend in the hope it would convince the stalker she is unavailable. Hunter knows how his twin brother Hayden has always crushed on Connie Jo, so he has Hayden accept the fake boyfriend role since Connie Jo can no longer tell the brothers apart. Will the plan work out? Will Hayden get his chance to have her fall in love with him at last? Or is he destined to only remain her friend?
“Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin” is, technically, the first book in The Beanbaggers Series by Madison Love; however, I prefer to count the prequel, “The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County”, as the first book since that’s where we meet our leading characters for the first time and get important background information pertaining to each of the different stories within The Beanbaggers Series. When I first read “The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County” I knew right away that Connie Jo and Hayden were meant to be and was so excited to read their story, “Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin”. Author Madison Love once again delivered a fantastic clean, sweet and swoon-worthy romance so let’s dive in.
I hate spoilers so I will do my best to be as detailed as possible without giving away any details that will ruin the story for anyone who chooses to read this book for themselves!
We return to Cornhole County where the original team of The Beanbaggers have all returned, as adults, having experienced trials and circumstances that come with growing up, living life and making choices that change the trajectory of one’s life forever. “Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin” is all about Connie Jo and Hayden, where life has pulled them apart but, despite perceived misconceptions on both sides, they never left each other’s hearts. Connie Jo returns to Cornhole County in an attempt to reconnect with her roots, ground herself in truth and hide from a stalker. Hayden returns to Cornhole County after selling his multi-billion dollar company to help his twin brother, Hunter, run the family ranch.
Both, Connie Jo and Hayden, are at odds with one another throughout the story. Their distance and loss of friendship has affected them more than either will outright admit which results in false assumptions and miscommunication making reconciliation harder and harder to obtain. When one gains some clarity the other is thrown into more confusion, back and forth they go, on different pages, timing never quite right. Hayden is hurt Connie Jo mixed him up with his twin, Hunter, when she’d always been able to tell them apart, and really let’s that pain blind him and drive his actions despite his heart’s deepest desire for the woman he’s loved all his life. When Connie Jo realizes WHY she mixed up the brothers she wonders if she‘ll ever be able to fix her mistakes and reconcile with the man who’s held her heart longer than she ever knew, blind to the truth right in front of her all those years.
There were plenty of times when I thought “Hayden that’s stupid” or “Hayden that doesn’t make any sense”. I think Winifred Banks said it best in “Mary Poppins”, “though we adore men individually, we agree that, as a group, they’re rather stupid”; because, stars above, some of the internal and external dialogue Hayden had led me to wonder if all men have this thought process or to simply wonder how Hayden even got to certain conclusions. Not that Connie Jo was much better, but as a woman I could understand her more, to a certain extent, because, in all fairness, there were certainly times I thought she was being just as foolish as Hayden was. There were times I wanted to smack them both upside the head and see if it dislodged a bit of sense into their brains. I think, however, that’s the point of their story. They’ve both been at odds with one another for so long, between miscommunication and dishonesty with themselves and each other, that they had to learn to trust not only God’s timing and His perfect plan, but, also, to trust themselves and each other all over again. After all, what is a relationship without trust?
Let’s address the “stalker” bit of the story. While we do get a conclusion to that bit of plot, and it is used to drive the story forward in certain aspects, it felt rather anticlimactic to me and was kind of a let-down. I expected more from that storyline, and it felt kind of glossed over within the plot as a whole. I guess I expected it to be a more major player in the plot line than it ended up being, so I was both surprised and kind of bummed it was more of a sprinkling throughout the story.
Previously, in “The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County” you meet the Baggersville Biddies and, truthfully, I didn’t like them at all. I found them to be more rude than teasing, in fact, I dreaded having to read anymore about them; however, that is not the case in “Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin”. The Baggersville Biddies are delightfully teasing and bring a lovely comedic element to the story. I can say I’m definitely a fan of theirs now. So if you were like me and didn’t like them before, they get better so don’t let that deter you from enjoying the rest of The Beanbaggers Series. Honestly, I’m still laughing over a joke they made that neither myself, nor the other characters, expected them to make!
I do think that both Hayden and Connie Jo could’ve benefited from having a “mean” friend. Allow me to elaborate, the “mean” friend is someone who is unafraid to speak the truth to you no matter how it may hurt your feelings. They speak the truth to you out of love because they want what’s best for you and don’t want to see you flounder or suffer unnecessarily. The Bible tells us over and over again that speaking the truth is loving, holding one another accountable is loving. Unfortunately, sometimes, that truth is hard to hear and may hurt one’s feelings. But each of us needs that “mean” friend who’s bold enough to speak such truth to us, and over us, no matter how it may make us feel. In the end, that “mean” friend is a true friend who loves you and wants the best for you. Granted, they did have friends and family members who would speak the truth to them, to a certain extent, but it was all done so gently that Hayden and Connie Jo both continued to waffle and flounder longer than necessary. I felt like the two of them really needed someone to firmly, unabashedly, speak the truth to them both in a way that forced them to truly acknowledge their feelings and misunderstandings and take action to reunite with one another.
Now, I think I’ve been a bit harsh on both Hayden and Connie Jo, but their story really is lovely, and it’s wonderful to read and see their happy ending unfold. In fact, I absolutely love a point the author makes a few times throughout the story. It’s something I’ve always said about “friends to lovers” stories and have never seen addressed before. When someone is in love with their best friend, they have two choices to make: a) hide their feelings and stand on the sidelines forever as they inevitably watch someone else come along that will love and cherish their best friend and get the happy ending they always wanted OR b) acknowledge their feelings, gather their courage, be truthful and take the chance that their feelings will be reciprocated so that they can live happily ever after with their best friend. One must acknowledge that if choice A is taken, the loss of friendship is inevitable, because once your best friend is married, it wouldn’t be appropriate for the two of you to remain as close as you were when both of you were single. But if choice B is taken, one must acknowledge you could still lose your best friend; they may not reciprocate, but then again, maybe they could, and if they do, wouldn’t that make it all worthwhile in the end? Regardless of the choice one makes, you must be able to accept and find contentment in the consequences of your actions, whether those consequences are good or bad. There are multiple secondary characters who make this point to our main characters and I just love to see how this, very logical in my opinion, point is made to both Connie Jo and Hayden.
Of course, their love story wouldn’t be complete without a happy ending, which they absolutely get! I will say, I do wish we had been given the chance to see more of their happy ending. After suffering through their pig-headedness all throughout the book, I would’ve liked a little more time to enjoy their happily ever after. You spend most of the book watching this ping-pong match of perceived misconceptions between the two that it felt like you didn’t get to really revel in their happy ending when it finally arrived. Don’t get me wrong, they’re sweet as pie together, and I love how Hayden and Connie Jo are almost magnetically drawn together at that point. I just think it would’ve been nice for their happy ending to be a few chapters longer. That certainly won’t stop me from reading it again though.
The author does a lovely job incorporating God and His truth into her stories. I especially loved some of the prayers different characters prayed, just little bits and pieces that struck a chord with me that could be true in my own life. It’s commendable, lovely, to see God woven into an excellent series of books. That’s rare to find in this day and age.
In conclusion, I absolutely recommend “Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin” to anyone who loves a sweet, swoon-worthy, clean romance with a lovely life lesson woven throughout. You’ll want to pick up all The Beanbaggers series once you crack open these pages and dive in. I can’t wait for more to be released!
This is book one in the Beanbaggers of Cornhole County and although it can be read as a standalone I highly suggest you read the Prequel The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County first and please don’t think that either book is just about playing cornhole because even though the game plays a part in the books, both books have much more to offer. This one deals with returning to your first love. Connie Jo (AKA Joelle Summers) is a singer with a stalker and she’s returned to her small town of Baggersville to hide out and reunite with her childhood friends, especially wanting to see if she can gain the love interest of her longtime crush Hunter Harrison and regain the close friendship she previously had with his twin brother Hayden Harrison. Here’s the problem there…it’s Hayden that is in love with Connie Jo. Another problem is that Connie Jo left the small town singing for the Lord but along the way in order to sell more songs, to make more money, she’s changed to singing secular songs and has had to change her whole appearance. Connie Jo has been lost to Joelle Summers and she’s not sure she likes it anymore. On top of that, she’s got to deal with the stalker and she just sent her head of security away but don’t worry because Hunter has just volunteered himself and his twin as her protectors while there and she’s got a plan to make Hunter come around by asking him to be her fake boyfriend…now just how is this going to work out? This book offers a powerful look at how God works things out for those who trust in Him and rely on His timing. At how chasing your dreams, making more money may not be the best thing but that you can still have your dreams without compromising yourself. Hayden, undoubtedly was my favorite character. The one who did what was right, who sacrificed for the happiness and well-being of others, who suffered but still stood up for what he wanted. Hunter was in a hard spot, wanting to help his friend and his brother but not wanting to hurt his brother nor lose the one he truly wanted. I admired that he finally said no but I wish he had found a way to not do the kiss. Connie Jo was a mess, bless her heart, but I did enjoy her character. Along with the main characters the secondary characters in the book include the group of childhood friends, now adults, all with their own issues, but there for each other, the parents of the twins and Connie Jo giving wonderful words of wisdom and the Baggersville Biddies, the town’s elderly gossips but always stepping up to help when there’s a need. As well as the friends’ mentors, Josie and Morgan Gallagher, and their pet “not-so-mini” pig, Chester, Hayden’s business partners and possible past girlfriend and Colt, the head of security returns and brings along a detail of unusual undercover security with him. Yes, there was plenty in this book to keep my attention and keep me turning the pages. A sweet faith based romance. The characters in this story felt like new friends I had met and needed to catch up on their lives. Smoochin’ the Wrong Twin is a well written story that is full of drama, love, friendships, and unexpected twists and turns. Connie Jo has a plan, and her agent is not happy about the plan. Connie Jo is a singer, (and is known as Joelle Summers) and her plan is to get her childhood crush to fake date her. Her agent insists her fans need her to be available and that this is a horrible idea. Connie Jo has been all over the country on tour for five years and is exhausted and needs a break. There’s also a secret admirer who has followed her to every venue across the country. He also sends love notes to her hotel room, but he’s never come forward and she’s beginning to get freaked out about him. When she gets back to her hometown, the first thing she does is go see her best friend, Elise to get her signature blonde hair (that’s almost white) back to her original color and a shorter style. The last time she was in town, Connie Jo couldn’t tell the difference between her twin friends Hunter and Hayden. Hayden was her best friend, but she had a huge crush on Hunter. She always thought she’d marry Hunter and that she and Hayden would always be just friends. They have drifted apart due to her hectic touring schedule and not being able to go home for a visit. She wants Hunter to pose as her fake boyfriend, but he’s not so sure of her plan. She just needs someone to be seen with in public. Hunter tries to talk her into asking Hayden, but she doesn’t want to do that. So, Hunter tells her they could use some extra help on the ranch, but it will be hard work. Connie Jo agrees even though she knows it will be hard, demanding physical labor she’ll be doing. There are many twists and turns in the story, and you will find it hard to put it down. This story is filled with coming home, renewing friendships, love interests, danger, and the unknown. Get your copy today so you, too, can enjoy this story.
What a sweet, romantic read by Madison Love. This book is wholesome, good natured, and stays true to Madison’s faith based writing. Our two MCs have been best friends forever, but life caused them to drift apart. Not strangers, but may as well be when Connie Jo returns home. Mistaking her best friend for his twin brother, definitely throws a wet rag and their reunion. But Connie Jo is in trouble and needs help.
Connie Jo, known to most of the world Joelle Summers (pop star persona), has come home to take a break from the spotlight and a potential stalker situation. She isn’t feeling connected to her music or her fans. She is hopeful that a fake relationship will cause her stalker to back off and spark some real time feelings in her long time crush. Who just happens to be her best friend’s twin brother. Connie is smart, talented, and a bit stubborn. I loved watching her get back to her roots as she spent more time at home and around people who wanted the real Connie. Finding her way back to what she loves about singing and who she loves singing for was heartwarming and enduring.
Hayden has loved Connie since he was 10. Knowing she has always liked his brother, he settled for the role of best friend and thrives in it. Until she asks his brother to be her fake boyfriend. Although he understands why she asks, it still hurts him that she would go to his brother from help and not him. But his brother has a plan to finally make these two realize they are meant for each other. Hayden is so sweet throughout this entire book. He truly cares for Connie as Connie. He challenges her, loves her unconditionally, and also knows when to give her space.
Truly an enduring read that I enjoyed from page 1. I look forward to the other potential couple’s books in this series.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

This book takes place 10 years after The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County (0.5 prequel in A Christian Small Town Romcom series) by Madison Love. This is an enjoyable story that I highly recommend!
Connie Jo (aka singer Joelle Summers) needs a break. She’s been touring the country for five years, and it’s beginning to take its toll. She also has a stalker. So, her plan is to return to her hometown Baggersville, TX and fake date her childhood crush, Hunter, in hopes of deterring her stalker and getting back on track.
Connie Jo has had a crush on Hunter Harrison, the “hot” twin, since she was 13 years old. Hunter’s brother, Hayden, the “sweet” one was her best friend growing up. However, she and Hayden have not been in touch in years, and she is convinced that she and Hayden are just destined for friendship. Hunter agrees to “fake date” Connie Jo, but pushes Hayden to spend time with her.
Cornhole is big in Baggersville and Cornhole for a Cause is a non-profit that was started 10 years ago by Josie and Morgan Gallagher after a miracle cancer recovery for Josie. Baggers and Swaggers is the local Cornhole Club and a place where friends can go to reconnect. For different reasons, The Beanbaggers team (Connie Jo’s friends) are back in town. The Baggersville Biddies are also alive and well and contribute a great amount of humor to the story. It is a community full of hope, love and caring! Connie Jo and her friends have put God on the back burner, and their focus became blurred. There is something about being in Baggersville that clears outside distractions because the town makes God their focus. So, the town comes together to help Connie Jo see that she has lost her way and needs to use her talents to glorify God and do things her way. More importantly, will she realize that Hunter doesn’t love her, but Hayden does and has loved her for years!

Have you ever thought that you loved some one and wanted to be with him for the rest of your life and he ended up being not the right person at all. Well Connie Jo had that problem. She had grown up knowing Hayden and Hunter, twins from a neighboring ranch all of her life. And I have loved Hunter since we were teenagers even though Hayden was my best friend forever. Any was shall I start this story from the beginning?
My real name is Connie Jo but I am a famous singer and you might know me as Joelle Summers my stage name. I plan on going home and get away for awhile. I have somehow attracted a stalker, you know the one you do not want, the one that sends letters and black roses to my concerts. That one that you want to stay as far as you can away from, the one that is starting to make you really scared. Well I am going to go back home and see if I can find myself a fake boyfriend to scare the stalker off and get him to leave me alone. The stalker will see how happy I am with my boyfriend and loose interest in me, well that is the plan. I get home and it is hard for me to say this but over the last 10 years the twins have grown up and I am having difficulty telling them apart. I ask Hunter, the man I have loved for many years to be my fake boyfriend and explain the situation to him. He says yes. But I am unaware of how Hayden feels about me, he has loved me since we were teenagers, so Hunter and Hayden switch places. So I am now fake dating Hayden thinking he is Hunter. Boy this is sounding confusing even to me and I know what happens cause I read the book. So maybe I should just let you read this fantastic book for yourself and you can find how this all works out in the end. Maybe I will run into you at a Cornhole Tournament or two.
Connie Jo has a stalker and decides to return to her hometown to convince her childhood crush to help her out….
Problem is, he’s her best friend’s twin brother, and she somehow managed to mix them up.
It’s sad, but their friendship is all but gone - he ghosted her in college for his ‘girlfriend’, she got busy with her singing career, and they’ve lost touch.
“Hayden is a ‘Yes’ man, and you don’t have to work for his approval because you’ve always had it. With Hunter, he’s a challenge. You want him because you can’t have him.”
What I never quite get… if the guy is in love with the girl… why does he always ghost his ‘love’? He cannot complain about it if he goes and dates other people or ignores her.
The problem…
Connie Jo wants to rebuild her friendship and doesn’t want to ruin it by using him as protection, so of course… mayhem, mischief and a bit of drama through manipulation from her/their friends and family…
This was not as lighthearted as I expected, and frankly, Hayden really annoyed me towards the end. At no stage had he ever told her that his ‘college girlfriend’ was a friend, and he picks and picks at her, complains that she never picks him, but never actively chooses her until the end. I wish it was addressed, because from the reader’s perspective, you could see it was very hurtful to her.
I adored this story, there was tension, and overall, was really sweet. It was lovely to revisit the Baggersville crew, but something about how Hayden dealt with everything frustrated me.

I am so happy there wasn't a long wait between the prequel and first book in The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County. Author Madison Love uses SMOOCHIN' THE WRONG TWIN to tell the story of Hayden and Connie Jo, who have returned to Baggersville for different reasons.
Hayden returns to town to help his twin brother, Hunter, run the family ranch after their dad has a stroke and needs to slow down. Connie Jo, a successful singer, is hiding out from a stalker who sends black flowers and creepy notes at stops on her concert tour. Hayden and Connie Jo have always been best friends but she's always wanted Hunter to notice her.
It was nice to return to Baggersville. While it still seems to be a perfect Mayberry-like town where everyone has each other's back when needed, the characters have flaws and carry baggage from decisions made and the consequences that come with those decisions. It gives depths to each one. While Hayden and Connie Jo are front and center in this book, the other kids introduced in the prequel all had roles in this book and will have their own stories to come in this series.
A bonus: Author Love has characters from her Shining Knight Protectors series show up. I haven't read any books in that series -- yet! -- but this was a nice choice that solidifies the universe of both series and is an encouragement to try the other series.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
I received an advance reader copy from the author through BookSirens, for which I thank them. All opinions are mine.
Madison Love’s Smoochin’ The Wrong Twin is a heartwarming, laugh-out-loud romance that brims with charm, faith, and sweet surprises. From the moment pop star Connie Jo concocts her wild plan to escape a stalker and rekindle her old crush, I was hooked on this delightful mix of small-town charm, quirky characters, and heartfelt romance.
Connie Jo’s spirited personality makes her an endearing protagonist—you can’t help but root for her, even when her plans go hilariously off the rails. And then there’s Hayden, the self-proclaimed “spud” who has quietly loved her from the sidelines. Watching him seize the opportunity to step out of his brother’s shadow and show Connie Jo his true worth was swoon-worthy and deeply satisfying.
The dynamic between the wrong (or maybe right?) twin and Connie Jo is full of playful banter, tender moments, and those swoony, butterflies-in-your-stomach kisses. I especially loved how their shared history added layers of nostalgia and emotional depth to their budding romance.
The small-town setting, complete with cornhole tournaments and family ranch shenanigans, adds an irresistible cozy charm. Madison Love weaves in themes of faith, self-discovery, and second chances with a light touch, creating a story that’s both uplifting and thoroughly entertaining.
If you’re in the mood for a clean, feel-good romance with plenty of heart and humor, Smoochin’ The Wrong Twin is the perfect escape. It’s a sweet reminder that sometimes love is found in the most unexpected places—even in a beanbag toss.
Connie Jo is a famous pop-star who heads home for a month to catch a break and to try and avoid a stalker. She concocts a crazy scheme to have Hunter be her fake boyfriend. Hunter is her best-friend, Hayden’s identical twin brother. She’s been ‘in love’ with Hunter since she was 13.
Hayden and Hunter are really close and both know about Connie Jo’s not so secret crush on Hunter. Hayden has been in love with his best-friend forever.
The storyline has so much potential, but the author overloaded the story with so many bible verses and opportunities for the characters to lecture each other with what they should do based on a bible teaching that the book becomes super preachy and judgmental. The ‘story’ is pretty much forgotten and there isn’t any romance in this book. Hayden is either hurt she didn’t choose him or he’s angry at her. Misunderstandings and jumping to the wrong conclusions were so rampant in this book were ridiculous and none of the characters stopped to think or ask or pray over what was going on or for His guidance. So the Bible verses and instructions to follow Him were used to judge and lecture, but not to show the characters actually praying for His guidance.
My favorite parts of this story was the close brotherly relationship between Hayden and Hunter, and the hints at Hunter’s feelings for someone else and his determination to try to help his brother yet protect his secret sweetheart.

Great second book in this series, recommend it to everyone who loves a sweet story with characters you will love. The H is successful business man who has developed many successful apps for gaming but also for the government. He has sold most of his shares to his partners and returned to help his brother run the family business. The h is a famous singer who returned home to rest and rejuvenate. She also hopes to escape from an unwanted stalker who she has become afraid of. When she returns home she asks the twin brother of the H to be fake boyfriend in hopes of discouraging her stalker. The twin brother realizes that she has trouble telling the twins apart and agrees to be her fake boyfriend thinking that his twin brother who is best friends with the h and has loved loved her for some time can be her boyfriend. The H refuses but he does things with the h on their family farm. It’s a friend of both the H and h that eventually points out that the twin she has always had a crush on is not the twin that she really loves. By that time the H has given up on the h ever loving him and decides to return to California to help his partners. When the h finds the H gone she comes up with an idea to very publicly declare her love for the H. She succeeds and they get their HEA. She also finds out who her stalker is and renegotiates her contract getting the professional life she wants. I really enjoyed this book and the series. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is a Christian romantic comedy book. It also is a friends to lovers book which is my favprotect trope. This book is about Hayden and Connie Jo. Hayden had returned to Baggersville after selling his company to help run the family ranch. Connie Jo has returned as she has a stalker and wants to get away from him. She and Hayden were best friends growing up. She has had a crush on Hayden’s twin brother Hunter almost her whole life. She decides to fake date him in hopes to keep the stalker away. How will things turn out when she realizes Hunter isn’t the one for her? How will she react when she learns her best friend growing up has always loved her? Will they figure out who the stalker is? Will she go back to her life of being a famous singer when everything is over? This book was so cute. I loved watching Connie Jo and Hayden together even though she made me mad at times. I loved the Baggersville Biddies in this book as well as the first one. I screamed when I saw the Shining Knight Protectors in this book as I love them and have missed them. There were some hilarious moments in this book. Some things you learn from this book is God has a plan for you. He has a person for you to love and who you are meant to be with. When you try to control your life instead of letting God things won’t go the way you want. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Okay, okay, quick blurb. A stalker situation causes singer Connie Jo to devise a fake relationship with her longtime crush Hunter, in hopes that this would get him to see her like she sees him. It would be kind of okay if her best friend and Hunter’s twin, Hayden, had not been in love with her pretty much all his life. I was a tiny bit skeptical to read this, because I do not like the fake-dating trope, but I’m so glad I gave this a go.
It was so good! I feared I’d get the twins mixed up, because their names start with the same letter, but these guys have their individual quirks that differentiate them enough. Everyone in the book does, in fact. There are loads of characters, and each has personality. The town has personality. Both leads are rounded, and come across as real people. They’re flawed. They emote. They react. They don’t always understand what’s going on. Connie Jo’s frustrating at times, but the author does well to explain her motivations. Hayden’s a sweetheart. I enjoyed meeting the supporting cast. The Biddies are great! The story’s heavy with potential for multiple sequels featuring other couples.
Aaand I want to read all the other sequels. 😄
The Christian element? Sublime. It’s cool that a clean romance with comedic elements can still sneak in such a good message about purpose.
I received this ARC from the author (thanks!) via BookFunnel, and am leaving a voluntary review.
Pop star sensation Joelle Summers a/k/a Connie Jo needs a place to hide. She decides the best place to hide would be her hometown of Baggersville, Texas. Everyone knows Joelle's real identity, but no one would ever share it with any outside party.
Twins Hayden and Hunter are her lifelong friends, but Hayden is her best friend and has been for years. She needs a fake romance, so she decides who better to be her fake boyfriend than Hunter. She has crushed on Hunter for years. This would be a perfect opportunity for her to try and woo him. There are two problems for her. One is that she realizes she can no longer tell them apart. The nerdy little Hayden she knew from before has been replaced by a muscle bound man. Secondly, even though Hunter agrees to be her fake boyfriend, he keeps putting her off on Hayden. After all, people from outside their town would not be able to tell which twin she is with, but she will know.
It's always fun to visit Baggersville. The characters are lively and fun. It was also fun to see characters from Madison Love's wonderful series, Shining Knight Protectors series, make an appearance. The romance was sweet as two best friends learn more about one another. There was also a little mystery thrown into the mix. One of my favorite things about this book is how this author weaves in an inspirational thread into the story as well.
Thank you to Book Sirens and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A pop-star who has lost her way that’s Connie Jo. Where is she headed ,where she going to go? Pawned off to his twin is not how she wanted this fake dating to begin. She was best friends with Hayden Harrison a time ago but now she doesn’t see him , she can’t tell him apart from his twin Hunter. It’s impossible to deny the attraction. Hayden tried to smooch Connie Jo ,gave her a sloppy kiss that wasn’t bliss when they were ten. He was resigned to be her friend She was friend to him and was hot for his twin…He watched her pine for his twin for years , she needs a fake date to allay all her fears. She has a stalker. So who better than Hayden’s twin brother? So the brother in question hatches a plan to take for his brother to take his place though in the Cornhole competitions. This is Hayden’s big chance to show that he’s actually not the wrong twin at all…Does he win ,get his gal? What of the stalker though? The Baggersville Biddies play their part too, in this party made for the two of them. She’s had enough of her stage persona Joelle Summers. She’s not feeling her anymore and is more like a chore, to top it off she has the stalker and has enough. Well written story by Madison Love.
This is a fun, clean, romance set in Texas between a hiding pop star and a rancher/app developer. Unique, to be sure. There are many things I like about the book. I appreciate it is in the same world/universe as other books by the author, and those characters sometimes make an appearance. I also like the themes covered, coming back to your true self, is fame worth it, etc. They are important commentary on society.
There are some character choices that didn't fit well into the plot, or at least did not seem to be used as a plot or character device. Namely, Hayden (the male protagonist rancher) is apparently quite wealthy from selling his stock in his company. But I really didn't see it used in the story, at least as well as it could have been, such as shared circumstances or shared conflicts. It was just kind of stated for shock value.
The technology and science were a bit of a stretch to my suspension of disbelief; however it was consistent with her universe/world building so it was not completely frustrating.
Overall I liked this as a fun, quick, clean read.

This is the 1st book in this Christian based rom-com series after The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County prequel. 10 years after the prequel, the gang is brought back at a reunion. They all have different reasons for being there, but Connie Jo is hiding from a stalker and "trying to find herself" again. Hayden has returned from California following his father's stoke, having sold his company and returned to help twin Hunter run the ranch.
When Connie Jo wraps Hunter in a sceme to play her face boyfriend (hoping for more). Thinking he can get Hayden to take his place in the deal, Hunter agrees. Well, let's just say that nothing, and I mean nothing, goes according to plan... for anyone. This story has tension, frusteration, anger, hurt, joy, sorrow, guilt, and love all wrapped in one. Some of the best parts are the parents trying to "enlighten" their children, but knowing they'll have a front row seat for the show when everything blows up. 😉
The question of the day seems to be, will Connie Jo end up with the live of her life in the end? Oh, and what was the deal with her stalker? Guess you need to read to find out!!
Is a sweet small town, fake dating, close proximity, Christian Romcom with a touch of mystery and suspense with no cliffhanger. Some of the lines I really like ---- “I’ve been dye-ing to get my hands on your hair!" ---- All talk and no game. Just a bunch of teenage pimples ready to pop, if you ask me.” ---- “She pushed me away and said I tasted like soggy potato chips.” ---- “Soggy potato chips? Does that make me the stud and you the spud?” ---- “This is going to be a mess of epic proportions, Sweetheart. Is it wrong that I’m thankful for a front-row seat?” ---- Seek and ye shall find A love that’s like no other That stands the test of time. ---- "Sometimes, a hard dose of reality is what’s needed in the form of constructive criticism or stiff competition. It’s like cough syrup. It might taste nasty, but it works.” ---- “Keep the guns in your holsters, Ladies,” ---- Who's stalking Joelle (Connie Jo)? What's the Biddies up to? These and other questions will all be answered. I loved Connie Jo and Hayden story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everything she's written and can't wait to read her next book.
Connie Jo, who uses the professional name of Joelle Summers, takes a break from performing to go home to Baggersville, TX. She hopes she can talk her best friend's brother into faking a relationship, hoping it will discourage an overzealous fan/stalker who has been leaving threatening notes with black roses.
Does Connie Jo's fake relationship with Hunter accomplish what she hoped? Or did it backfire? What about Hunter's identical twin Hayden? Yes, there are a lot of questions. The good news is that everything works out for good… There's even a sweet HEA ending.
There's more cornhole tournaments (cornaments), more from the Biddies of Baggersville, more of everything we've come to enjoy from the Beanbaggers of Cornhole County series.
This is actually Book 1 of the series, but we got acquainted with the characters of Baggersville in The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County, The Prequel. This book is a standalone but reading The Prequel first sets everything up for more enjoyment.
I definitely recommend this Dual POV, clean, faith-based, contemporary rom-com.
I was given an ARC of this story, but all thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily.
This was such a cute read with so much going on! When famous singer Connie Jo needs to get out of the spotlight due to a stalker situation, she finds herself heading back to her hometown... and enlisting her best friend Hayden's twin brother to pretend to be her boyfriend to discourage the stalker... While she's had a longtime crush on his twin, Hayden has been in love her Connie Jo for years. Needless to say, this definitely makes things interesting! (But don't worry, this definitely didn't give off the dreaded love triangle vibes!) With so much going on in the story, it could have easily just been too much, but somehow it all worked, and I found myself smiling throughout. I really enjoyed the easy chemistry between these two and all the smalltown vibes. Faith played such an important part of this story as well, and I loved how that was weaved effortlessly into the story too.
Smoochin' the Wrong Twin is a Christian romcom with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
I love all things Madison Love and this does not disappoint. This is book one in The Beanbaggers of Cornhole County. Connie Jo is a singer songwriter who's stage name is Joelle Summers. Connie Jo needs some time off, and wants to get away from a stalker who sends her black roses. She goes back to her home town. Hayden is back home to help his father and his twin brother Hunter on the family ranch. Hayden has been Connie Jo's best friend forever, he is the sweet twin. He would like to be more than friends with her. Hunter is the hot twin, Connie Jo has had a crush on him forever, but he does not feel that way. Connie Jo has not seen the twins for awhile and they are all grown up. She has a hard time telling them apart. She wants Hunter to be her fake boyfriend to maybe discourage her stalker, if he would be around. Hunter does agree, but he plans to have Hayden take his place. How does this work out? And of course we have to have cornhole in the story! Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Madison Love!!!!!
This is a clean, Christian romance. It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. (Though I admit to enjoying it so much I will be going back to read the first book!)
Connie Jo returns home to take a break from her music tour and to try and escape a stalker. Hunter and Hayden, twin brothers, have been in her life since they were little. Though Hayden has been her best friend, she's always had a crush on Hunter and is going to ask him to be her fake boyfriend while in town to keep the stalker at bay. However, Hunter has always loved Connie Jo. Will she have her chance with Hunter? What about Hayden? Will the stalker find her? Can she find herself again with this break?
This is a good story with great writing. It is the first time I have read a book (I think) from this author. I would love to read more of her work. I really liked the story line, characters, the Christian faith as part of the book as well as the supporting characters. Definitely a great read.

Connie Joe, a small-town girl who has made it big in pop music has to hide out from her stalker in her old hometown. She hopes that the twins Hunter and Hayden will help her. She has had a crush on Hunter since high school and Hayden was always her best friend. She has never wanted to risk love with Hayden because she has valued his friendship more. Hunter, unbeknownst to her is in love with someone else. She decides a fake relationship with Hunter may make the stalker go away. Hayden, who loves her is devastated but tries to handle the situation. It’s a big mess and Connie Joe is too stubborn to see the forest for the trees.
Add a trio of colorful old ladies, The Knight Elite Security Team, and other fun characters and you have a cute rom-com. I also like that Madison Love includes the Christian theme of the love of God. It’s a fun read with just enough swoony-ness and a bit of danger to keep you turning the pages.

When mega pop star Joelle Summers finds herself needing to lay low due to an overzealous fan, she knows her hometown of Baggersville will be the perfect place to hide. She has made great efforts to keep her true identity - Connie Jo Jim Bob - a secret to the world, with only a few people outside the town knowing her real name.
She comes up with a plan to have a "fake" relationship with her secret love from her childhood - Hunter. His twin Hayden and Connie Jo were best friends, but Connie Jo has always (not so secretly) liked Hunter. Hunter agrees to the ruse, but was hoping he could switch places with Hayden, since Hayden has been in love with Connie Jo for years. But Hayden doesn't like the idea of that deception. Instead, he agreees to help Connie Jo get Hunter's attention. The problem? Hunter likes someone else…
This is such a cute book, however, I did want to shake Connie Jo a few times for being so blind to what was right in front of her!
Connie Jo is a popular singer who is returning to her small hometown after a stalker starts scaring her. She wants to fake date her friend Hunter while she is home. Hunter's brother has always had a crush on Hayden and Hunter and everyone else in the book sees that Hayden is the right choice for Connie Jo.
I enjoyed this fun read. It was cute and entertaining. I appreciated that EVERYONE knows these too belong together, except Connie Jo. I'm not used to everyone pushing them together and calling the FMC out. Madison Love does a great job of building a small town Christian story. It never feels forced.
My biggest complaint is that there were too many characters in the beginning. I could not keep all the minor characters straight. At one point I checked to see if this book was 5th in a series and if I missed the earlier stories. I guess there will be more books in the Beanbaggers series.

A bit of a let down: Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this story as much as I was hoping to. The tone of the book was more somber and I missed the fun and light heartedness that was so prevalent in the prequel. There also weren't as many small town quirks and crazy antics, but rather the focus was shifted onto the many cases of unrequited love that existed between this group of old high-school friends. I found Connie Jo's vacillating and unwillingness to accept that she loved Hayden and not his twin brother annoying. I was curious about the stalker and was kept guessing right until near the end. There was some crossover with characters from this author's Shining Knight Protectors series being featured, however it would still be possible to read this without having read those books. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
