So, what if he’s my dad’s enemy?
This mafia daughter likes a good challenge.

You would think my friends know me better by now.
The more forbidden the fruit, the sweeter it tastes.
I turn towards the man they’ve dared me to kiss.
I wonder if he tastes as good as he looks.
His build is like that of a freaking Viking.

He’s leaning against the bar in his black suit.
His eyes are on me.
I can feel the danger oozing off him like dark syrup.

Screw it!
I may as well go all in like a badass.
I kiss the scary, dangerous Rufino Vece.
His hand sends shivers through my entire body as he pulls me closer.
He whispers, “Come with me.”

Inside his home, he immediately pins me against the wall pressing against me.
“You shouldn’t go home with strangers” he growls.
I lift my leg, wrapping it around him.
Arching my back pulling him closer.
I whisper, “Maybe it’s YOU who shouldn’t take strangers home.”

Something Borrowed is the fourth book in the REVENGE The Vece Familia Mafia Series, but it can be read as a complete standalone. This is a full-length novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA.

It’s a good book but it’s very fast paced and therefore it’s harder to understand the characters and their feelings in the first half of the book. I also feel like it ends abruptly while the characters before the end are long and thorough be just me. Otherwise the characters match very well!

🌶️ 🌶️(There are plenty of spicy scenes but all of them made me cringe and flinch, never any foreplay or lube 😬. But the last scene was cute)

This is a rant, because calling this a review would be a joke 😅. And there are tons of spoilers ahead.

Something Borrowed wasted no time getting dramatic and spicy. When Verity knocked that girl out in the club I floored, finally a Mafia princess that doesn't take insults laying down. Then poof she's got the attention of Rufino, and next thing you know our first spicy scene. But Verity saying “I’m going to grab an Uber. Thanks for a fun time.” She says, pulling her dress down over her hips, swaying a little and then giggling at herself" was 💀. Like ma'am at least catch your breath first 🤣.

Verity's back and forth attitude was concerning. I'm all for being rebellious against the patriarchy, but honestly she seems like a danger to herself and others, for the sake of fun. Hard to relate to a character that doesn't care about anyone but herself.

I'm simply not the target audience for this book. The sneaking around just didn't hold my interest, and I honestly lost all respect for the FMC when she said "I won’t be going to the Star Lounge though. I have a more enticing invite. Sammy and Bella are going to be annoyed again when I make some lame excuse on the night, but they’ll get over it." These girls are supposed to be her best friends....and she ditching them for a man she's constantly telling us she can't be with.
🥴

"But the thought also terrifies me. The idea of any type of commitment. It’s so - serious. So final. But it doesn’t have to be. I just can go with the flow and see where it takes me."

.... A few moments later....

"I’m in love with Rufino Vece. From the moment I laid eyes on him, it was him. We are destined to be together. Fate threw us into that moment and now no one can tear us apart. I love him."

Girl bye 💀

Verity constantly complained about no one understanding her, but I'm trying to figure out when she gave someone the opportunity to do as such. Seems like she's on person in public, then expects people to play psychic and know who she really is.

Both Verity and Rufino are toxic, as individuals but also as a couple. Verity gets drunk, throws drinks and punches people. Rufino thinks it's "sexy" and basically is an enabler. They need therapy, not a relationship 😅. Because neither one them understand the concept of actions have consequences.

And let's not get on the topic of how Rufino is always "slamming" into her with no foreplay or lube. I guess Verity is of the mind "stay ready, so you don't have to get ready". 🤣.

“When are you going to stop blaming me and start taking some responsibility for the role you played in all of this, Verity?” AMEN!!!!!

"And when I get bored with the crowd I’ve hung out with for a while I replace them. Was I the problem?" Yes you 100% are the problem 😭.

In summary this story was, have an argument, avoid communication, have sex, wonder why they can't get along and repeat. Then change things up for the last 50% because there needed to be drama and a happy ending.

I'm all for a forbidden romance, but these two were some of the most selfish people, doing things and not thinking about the consequences. Rufino's men died for their relationship, and they simply did not care.

I rounded this up to 3 stars because the kidnapping made me laugh. "You are murdering me by not letting me go outside and feel the sun on my skin. Vitamin D is a real thing.” like what a wild thing to say 🤣. And the plot twist at the end did surprise me. Plus Rufino took "I burn the word for you" to a whole meaning and I respect that.

Red Revenge Rufino

Verity and Rufino are the chaotic duo charged to keep the Vece family on their toes. I thought his siblings would be a tough act to follow but he raised the bar. I love how this couple embrace and accept each other as they are. Rufino’s resilience when it came to his wife, prepare to swoon.

I’m ready to crack into Something Blue right now.

I have read the other books in the series and Rufino and Verity did not grab me like the other characters. In some aspects, I thought Verity was a little immature and Rufino was a little intense. I will admit the characters had great chemistry as a couple just didn't grab me as individuals.

The Things a Man Will Do For Love -
Verity was really hyped up on adrenaline when she went through with the dare her friends made to kiss Rufino, but her world tilted on its axis the moment they locked lips and she knew at that point she was in trouble. The last thing Rufino expected when Verity kissed him, was that she would agree to go home with him and embark on a secret relationship, as their families were at odds with each other. Even though Rufino and Verity tried to keep their relationship secret, their happiness didn’t last long, as their families did everything possible to separate them.

Nevertheless, Rufino wasn’t prepared to lose Verity and took it upon himself to get them back together again. Unfortunately, Verity’s father wasn’t happy with their union, so he decided to wreak havoc on their lives and forcibly took her back home. Whilst Verity’s father thought that by keeping her in captivity and causing problems for Rufino’s family would keep him away, he never took into account the lengths a man in love would do to save his soulmate. Rufino took it upon himself to cause enough damage to Verity’s father, that he finally agreed to no longer interfere in their lives, so they could get the happy life they wanted.

This was a truly thrilling and riveting romance story, with steamy encounters to keep you squirming on your seat and unpredictable emotional moments that catch you off guard. The angst and suspense had me glued to the pages and unable to take a break until I reached the end. I certainly didn’t expect some of the things that happened in the story, but on the other hand, it made the story a lot more exciting and an enjoyable reading experience. Grab a copy of this book now and you won’t regret it.

Loving the Revenge Brides Series by Hannah Rio!
Accepting a challenge by her friends, Verity, in her drunken state decided to accept the challenge and go and kiss the man she had no right even putting in his sights!
Once they touched lips, Rufino knew....she was his! I love a "he falls first" romance!
A great story full of angst, hidden truths and hiding their love for each other from the world.
Both Verity's father and Rufino's brothers did not approve of their affair and did everything to keep them apart. The families were rivals and within the mafia, there was a deep seated hatred for each other.
But Rufino had a plan.....One he executed brilliantly, until they are found due to his family betrayal!
And as Rufino promised, he would burn the world down to find his one true love, he started to look for Verity....
Read on to see how Verity and Rufino get their HEA. 5 stars from me!!

An amazingly written story about a Mafia princess who finds the love of her life who is a Mafia prince. The couple’s families are rivals and neither family wants them together.
It takes no time for them to become intimate and tell one another how much they love each other. The couple elope. After they get home everything falls apart so they run until the Mafia princess’s father finds them and takes her.
Come to find out but that both of the couples' families betrayed them both in different ways. The Mafia prince goes after the father to get her back.
The couple fights to be with one another and at the end the Mafia princess’s father lets her go. The couple elopes again. The couple love each other and are happy.
Drama, suspense, intrigue, thrills, action and a steamy spicy romance that has a happily ever after ending which has outstanding characters and a great page turner.

Rufino and Verity were perfect for each other - except their families hated each other. Verity was young (23) and full of spice and trouble with a capital T. Rufuno was hot and they really noticed each other but knew it was trouble to engage, but engage they did from the very first sight. They kept seeing other on the sly but eventually her father found out about it and grounded her. The young couple ran away together but his brothers ratted them out and her father and his goons came and got her. He planned on locking her up until she came to her senses. That was never going to happen. Rufino decided he would burn everything of her fathers until his found her.
This story was passion, drama, horrible parent and love that would last. A very good story.

Book four of the Vece family, a light mafia story with threats of revenge and some moments of darkness. A really enjoyable read and a great installment to the series.

Verity meeting Red in a bar and accepting her friends dare to kiss the man with the dark lifestyle is just the start of this epic story. The sparks fly between the pair but with their families being enemies no-one is going to let them be together easily.

Verity is an immature spoiled princess who doesn’t care about anything but herself at that moment. She’s selfish and manipulative. Rufino’s living his carefree life when Verity storms him and takes what she wants. This story screams Romeo & Juliet!!!! This couple is chaotic with a dash of crazy but I’m here for it. Secret hook-up, he fell first, spicy age gap, forbidden enemies to lovers. It’s an action packed easy fast read!

The second half of this book was better than the first half in every way. The characters, except Rufino he was good from the get go, and the story all better in the second half. Verity never really grew on me. I like the brothers in their individual books but I don't like them in their brothers' books. I'm disappointed that the brothers don't stand with one another as a united front but as enemies to one another. I see that stance by the author as a missed opportunity, imagine the destruction of a unified front of possessive morally grey alpha men 🥵. Overall this was still a good read though.

I just devoured this book in the series and I'm still reeling from all the twists and turns. It was like a rollercoaster of suspense, with some deliciously spicy moments thrown in to keep things interesting. My only complaint is that I wanted a bit more romance, but the suspense was so expertly woven that I barely even noticed. And can we talk about how much I love a good "I'll burn the world to get to you" MMC? One more book to go in this series and I'm practically salivating with excitement!

Something Borrowed is book 4 of the Vece Family series and is a fantastic, dark, forbidden, age gap story. This one is Rufino Vece and Verity A'Vara's steamy story. It's a daring, enemies to lovers, kidnapping journey that somehow suits these two perfectly. What starts out as a dare evolves into much more and things get really exciting after that. These two play with fire and it doesn't matter who gets burned as long as the Viking gets his Hellfire.

I really enjoyed this forbidden love, mafia story!
Rufino was everything you want in a charming, broody everything you want in an MMC and Verity...well, they don't call her "Hellfire" for nothing.
When their world tries to keep them apart, Rufino literally burns it down to keep her safe.
Predictable, but engaging. Overall, a great time!

I loved this book!

This book had me hooked at chapter one! Verity is the spoiled Mafia daughter who is a party girl. Rufino is her father’s enemy. They meet on a dare at a night club and instantly hit it off.
Their forbidden relationship is put to the test for sure. I want this review to be spoiler free, so if you are into Mafia & forbidden romance with some spice, I would definitely recommend this one!

This is the 4th book in the Revenge Bride series and I have to say I’m not disappointed. Verity and Rufino are from two different sides of the Mafia world and they shouldn’t be together. The amount of suspense and obstacles this book takes you through makes you NOT want to put it down until the end. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from Hannah.

Romeo and Juliet brought up to date, father keeps daughter away from an enemy but this is better.
Both Mafia families at war Rufino Vance and Verity A'vara are caught in the middle and run away.
But fate won't leave them alone and her father gets her back.
Vance takes drastic measures to try to get his love back that results in loss of lives for others but Mafia what else can you expect.

This is my first read by this author. This book was so good, I am now following her.
I just loved the way Rufino fell so hard for Verity. They had so much goining against them. Their families are enemies. Her father is a total control freak. He's so much older. He said he would do anything for her. Well, he does. So entertaining.

This was a fast paced read, so it easily held my attention.
With family enimies/forbidden, mafia, age gap, and more!
Verity and Rufino were meant to be together. Their chemistry and banter was perfect. I liked that they loved each other exactly how they were.
This book had action, some edge of your seat moments, humor, lots of spice and drama.

I loved this story. When it clicks and you know it, never back down. He fell first and his love got stronger all the time. Intense feelings like these are rare, but wonderful. I got so mad at his brothers. He would walk through fire for her and he proved it. I didn't read the books with his brothers, but no way either of them touched this man's devotion.

I've started the book but then I realized that it's not the kind of book I usually read, so I haven't finished it. But the few chapters I've read show me that this book will be liked by people that read steamy romances, so for that fans I'll recommend the book.

Great read

Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunately, this book was not proofread. Dozens of spelling errors , incorrect punctuation and missing words forming incomplete sentences.
Not likely to read this author again for that reason only.
