Poetry about nature, and the animals places lost due to the conversion of wild places into roadways and shopping centers, intersect with poetry about the lives of ordinary working class people. The result is a melancholic elegy for what we have lost as nature and wild places recede from our lives, and lives of those near and dear to us are lost.

“I am a wide-mouthed bucket holding shame.” is a banger line. I also loved “My Dad on the Dark Side of the Moon” - the layout of this poem is ridiculously good. I seriously recommend this one.
