Jorn Lier Horst (born in Bamble, Telemark 1970) is a former Senior Investigating Officer at the Norwegian police force. He made his literary debut as a crime writer in 2004 and is considered one of the foremost Nordic crime writers.

His series of mystery novels starring chief inspector William Wisting provides a detailed and authentic insight into how criminal cases are investigated and how it affects those involved, whether private or professional. The books represent a simple and accurate picture of the modern Nordic societies and is characterized by political and social commentary subtext.

Iga järgmise Wistingu sarja raamatu puhul olen natuke kurb, sest eks iga sari saab ükskord otsa ning pole enam võimalik tegelastega mõnes uues osas kohtuda. Wistingu sarja raamatuid olen lugenud üsna hüplikus järjekorras, just nii nagu on parajasti õnnestunud.... Kuigi inglise keeles võtab lugemine veidike rohkem aega, oli antud lugu nii põnev, et raske oli seda käest panna.

Pantvangide võtjad, kes enne on tegutsenud Rootsis, jõuavad omadega Norrasse ning Wistingu uurimisrühm asub tegelema miljonäri naise röövimise ja lunarahanõudega. Kuid mitte ainult - sest samas on veidi varem toimunud ka maalihe, mis neelas endasse mitmeid maju ning sündmuspaigalt leitakse hiljem ka üks hukkunu. Selgub, et konkreetse õnnetusega ta ilmselt seotud polegi, küll aga kuulub ta otsapidi Rootsi uurijate meeskonda. Peatselt kistakse Wisting asjade käiku ka väga isiklikul tasandil ning tal tuleb otsustada, kes ja mis on talle elus esmatähtis.

Väga põnevalt kirjutatud lugu ning ilmselt võin seda rahulikult mingi aja pärast uuesti lugeda, kasvõi selleks, et sõnavara täiendada...

Look, I’m more than happy to suspend belief when reading fiction. But, this really was fantastical. It was enjoyable for sure, but too much happened that was just not credible. And most of the characters were mere sketches, even Wisting. Which, btw, is a terrible character name in English because I kept reading it as Wistfully.

I was able to anticipate one of the plot lines but even so, this was highly readable as the Wisting books always are! I really hope that the author has written a sequel to this one!
