Abduction and murder occur a little too close to home for a team of Welsh detectives
A christening party turns into a terrifying ordeal when baby Cora vanishes, seemingly into thin air.
A frenetic search operation gets underway immediately, and DI Winter Meadows marshals his team to investigate the attendees, who are mostly worse for wear.
Suspicion falls on Olwen, the elderly grandmother of the missing baby, who appears confused. She went walkabout during the time of the infant’s disappearance. Fears grow that she drowned the child in the swollen River Amman.
It is not the first time that tragedy has struck this small Welsh community. Five years before, someone died in a caving incident, and feelings are still raw.
As Meadows familiarises himself with the friends and family, it is clear that animosity runs deep.
But who would be so callous as to endanger the life of a newborn child? And might someone who goes to such lengths be cunning enough to escape recrimination?
BURIED DEEP WITHIN is the tenth standalone mystery in the DI Winter Meadows series. It can be enjoyed entirely on its own but look out for the other bestselling books in the series.
Cheryl Rees-Price was born in Cardiff and moved as a Young child to a small ex-mining village on the edge of the Black Mountains, South Wales, where she still lives with her husband, daughters and two cats. After leaving school she worked as a legal clerk for several years before leaving to raise her two daughters.
Cheryl returned to education, studying philosophy, sociology and accountancy whilst working as a part time book keeper. She now works as a finance director for a company that delivers project management and accounting services.
In her spare time Cheryl indulges in her passion for writing, the success of writing plays for local performances gave her the confidence to write her first novel. Her other hobbies include walking and gardening which free her mind to develop plots and create colourful characters.
Convoluted relationships hide terrible secrets. This is the tenth book by Cheryl Rees-Price in her series featuring Detective Inspector Winter Meadows and his team. A group of six that have grown up together and there have been various relationships between the men and women that have resulted in children One child has disappeared from a bedroom on the day of a party after her christening. The police become involved, and as their investigation proceeds, cracks become apparent in the interactions of the friends. There are some scenes that involve caving and diving in these caves. As a scuba diver that has done some cavern dives, I can confirm that these are accurately described in terms of procedures and equipment. This is not always the case with some books. The author has done a superb job here, and this is perhaps the best yet in this outstanding series.
I have enjoyed this entire series of murder mysteries and love the cast of police characters. I thought that this book was not quite as good. The plot was tangled. There were a lot of characters introduced all at once who had intertwined lives and complicated relationships. What a messed up group of people! it was confusing at times. I also felt that the police characters lives did not advance much with the emphasis almost completely on the suspects. It was still worth reading and enjoyable.
Once again, a fantastic page turner by this author. A group of friends that hike and scuba dive in caves. The six friends have lots of secrets that slowly start to be discovered by the police while investigating a kidnapped baby. Three murders happen over time in this group that at first appear to be accidents. Once Meadows and his team begin their investigations, the truth comes to light and the murderers are revealed along with their reasons. Excellent.
One of my Favorite Authors. Don't know if it's because Winters is like he's part of the family, or just the way she twists and turns and ends up with lots of surprises. Author Rees-Price is just really good at keeping the story going and peaking one's interest--even if it means I read until 1:00 in the morning to finish the story so I learned how it ended. And now they are expecting a surprise!!!!! VR, Mags
I absolutely love this series. The plots are excellent and extremely well done. All of the characters are very human and you can easily relate to them. The characters continue to evolve and you get to know them more in,each book. If you enjoy detailed and excellent plots as well as,great characters, I highly recommend this series! I cannot wait until the next one.
It was ok. Dragged on a bit too much for me and all became a bit too complicated. I do enjoy the continuing story of DI Meadows and the team tho. I would like to see the female detectives developed a bit more they are really in the background for most of the time. I will read the next in the series.
Another stonker from Cheryl Rees-Price, an author whose writing really draws you in. In this book the detectives are racing to find a baby who has been kidnapped from its christening party. But the small Welsh community won't give up its secrets readily.
This is Book 10 in the series. I have read them all and enjoyed. This book just didn't have the same touch. I thought there was too many names in it. Yes the story was good in general but the ending to me was a bit ridicious.
This is one of my favorite series. The characters are interesting and continue to develop, and the mysteries are intriguing. I thought this was one of the best books in the series. It involved complicated relationships and several crimes, all intertwined. The book was difficult to put down.
Loved the entire series. There are always a lot of characters to keep track of but the twists at the end make it worth it. Plots are always good just wish we had a deeper dive into the main characters.
Lots of people, lots of tense action, there was everything to love about this book. The ending was spectacular, would never have guessed, best book for a while.
Brilliant series they just keep on getting better and better.Great characters and storyline kept me interested from first page to last.Roll on number 11.
Did it all start six years ago. If so has it started again with a missing baby, a death and suspicions. DI Meadows and his team investigate. An entertaining modern mystery
