This fun novelette introduces a fascinating world of fury and magic. The heroine, Liz, is a talented witch determined to defend herself and home from a murderous family with a decades-long vendetta against Liz and her own small family. Adding to the mix, she’s now old enough to see her lifelong protector, Lucas, as a potential mate. I really enjoyed the mythology Barnes conjured for the magical elements of this quick read. And I appreciated Liz’s efforts to break the cycle of violence she was drawn into at birth even more. Hoping the author will be writing more stories about Liz and Lucas!
This isn't my typical genre of choice - I don't typically read about witchcraft and the supernatural. But I couldn't stop reading! I loved how the author draws the reader in making you feel like you know the characters. I love a good love story. I look forward to Sharon Barnes' next book!
This is a great read with a unique topic. The author quickly establishes characters and a back story that creates immediate interest in them. This is a book that engages your mind in the fantasy of the story. Great read.
