"But now that I know that it's impossible to be perfectly satisfied with every side of myself every single day has been so much fun!"
Not quite as exciting as volume three, but I'm still invested in Otogi's love story! I'm also curious about her best friend and if we will see more of her in the upcoming volume! I really enjoyed seeing all the expressions Otogi is making and the small moments where Toki is realizing her feelings for Otogi. I can't wait to see that day come honestly!
Much like another book I just read, the art makes this work for me. It is downright sumptuous at times and the clean lines make it a visual treat. There are some lovely panels scattered throughout.
Conversely, the narrative is okay, but the premise has gotten stretched so taut that I could genuinely not tell you the difference between our leads at school and when being ‘their real selves’.
What brings this back for me is the way that it has taken Otogi’s rejection last time and let her revel in just the feeling of being in love. Rather than letting Toki’s dismissal reduce her to nothing, she instead just sees positives from the experience.
That’s so… unusual… that it makes the whole thing more fascinating than it otherwise would be. The rest of this is Toki and would-be rival Futagami spending time with Otogi and shooting daggers at one another.
But it’s Otogi who’s the true star of this; with a little tweak here and there this is a five star story entirely about her. She has a fantastic best friend and I also loved her relationship with her mother too. With her refreshing outlook on things, Otogi is the reason to read the manga.
And, that’s nicely conveyed in this volume. There’s a point where the guys realize that she is far more than she seems and she was already amazing. After her rejection she has, paradoxically, only become more desirable.
There are some fun interactions between all three members of the love triangle, although I suspect that you could lose that aspect of Futagami and we really wouldn’t be missing out on a thing. That’s just me though - love the genre, chafe at the conventions.
I do enjoy the series, but it has never lived up to its premise or even kept up with it to the degree where said premise should have been the linchpin of the whole thing. What we’ve shifted to is good, but it’s always a step behind greatness for me.
3 stars - story okay, art amazing, Otogi does really shine this volume. If she was surrounded with a story that better fit her this would be an easier recommend, but it’s almost worth it for that art alone anyway.
oh my godddd it's been months and somehow this still has me hooked?? high school romance is so far out of the circle of my thing but this is one i will always come back to, i think. yes it is teenagers mostly being very dramatic and depressed when they get turned down by their crush but i feel like this volume in particular had the perfect amount of angst?
urgh i love our main trio and i don't like seeing them heartbroken but at this point it seems inevitable for Futagami-kun and i am genuinely so sad for him? looking at the other two and knowing they're in love, just that Ninomae is choosing not to be together (for now) and that you don't have a chance at all is heartbreaking, especially when he's been not so quietly pining for her for quite a while now. i don't even mean a new love interest but he needs a happy ending yo!!
Ninomae plsplspls put both of yous out of your misery and ask her out already!! the yearning and the handholding at the fireworks festival has to surely push him to do it. sure he has the confession typed out on his phone now but i'd bet you it still wouldn't be sent in the next volume urghhhhh.
i'm cooked for following this shoujo manga right from the start but i guess i accept my fate of bwing burnt to crisp by the end of it.
"Continuano ad emergere parti di me che non conoscevo. È buffo, no?

This manga presents a charming and relatable story about two students who appear perfect to everyone around them, but secretly hide sides of themselves they don’t want others to see. What makes the manga appealing is how these characters gradually find comfort and a sense of safety in each other, creating a quiet, heartwarming connection built on trust, which is a rare and delicate theme. At the same time, the story feels realistic. Many people present different personas depending on the situation, and it’s fascinating to watch how long the main characters can maintain their “perfect” facades and how those around them might react when the truth eventually comes out. This dynamic adds depth and intrigue, making me genuinely invested in seeing how their relationships and self-discovery would unfold. Unfortunately, my reading experience was interrupted when the translation quality suddenly changed, making it harder to follow. I attempted to find alternative English sources to continue reading, but couldn’t locate any reliable sites, which was disappointing. Despite this, the story itself shows promise, with relatable characters and a thoughtful exploration of identity and trust. Overall, this manga is a cute and insightful manga with realistic themes, but accessibility issues with translations currently make it difficult to enjoy fully.

the art of this is seriously just so good! this volume had so many full pages of cute, heartfelt moments between otogi and toki, and there were so many beautiful panels of toki that made me just pause my reading to admire.
i'm so glad this manga continues to be refreshing in its portrayal of the heroine: otogi is fearless in her love and confident even in her faults. although the continual development of the love triangle isn't my favorite, it hasn't interrupted the main pairing much yet, so i'm grudgingly accepting futagami (it does not hurt that he's also so hot and had so many lovely panels this time). but the side pairing involving otogi's friend, beni, isn't quite working for me, and i have a bad feeling about how it might progress.
once again this volume ends on a cliffhanger—toki please, please confess!
This one was cute, I was iffy one the whole love triangle trope but I didn’t mind it simply bc Katsura still has feelings for Ninomae, which actually makes me feel bad for Futagami lol, call me empathetic haha. But I do love how this manga in general does show that your crush has so much power over how you feel at the end of the day without them realizing it, and I like how Katsura realizes that power.
I also like how she handles her feelings, rather than hiding from it she learns about it, how she ask questions when she feels it’s necessary. And while all that is happening we also start to understand a bit more of the struggle Ninomae has in confessing his feelings for Katsura and potentially why he holds off on it while also seeing Futagami understand why they’re both holding off on it.
Also that cliffhanger! Need the next volume immediately.
STOP ENDING ALL THE MANGA VOLUMES ON CLIFFHANGERS I WILL DIE ‼️‼️‼️ jealous ikkoku, we ALWAYS love to see it. i love otogi and ikkoku together ssosooooosososoo much it's actually insane. they're both so silly when they're alone. the academic rivals to lovers + best friends trope is making me lose it. they make me so giggly, theyre so cute together, esp in the last chapter w the hand holding and all 😭 futagami my guy give up alr LMAOOOO im rooting for futagami and beni. i love the fact that ikkoku wore a yukata too, i hate it when the ml shows up all boring in a tshirt and a pair of jeans
fall in love you false angels is starting to really warm up in me. volume 4 was such a delight to read i really can’t get enough of the main character otogi. she super funny and i find myself giggling during her panels. her character is also different from the usual mfc in shoujo manga and it’s refreshing to see. in this volume we get some really cute interactions. i probably sound like a broken record for i can’t get enough of coco uzuki’s art style it’s so pleasing to the eye.
Your honour I LOVE THEM 🩷 The FL is such a refreshing shoujo heroine: she's badass but hella feminine, cute but cool at the same time. I can totally see why everyone's head over damn heels for her (I would be too)
I need to save the next volume.. but MAN I JUST WANT MORE 😭🫶 It's been a hot minute since I've read a cute shoujo manga with awesome characters, art AND plot. It's the whole fricken package~
Nvm I love where this is heading! I love the mc’s and how different they are/act from other shojos. It’s really refreshing to read especially how sweet Ninomae turned out to be (I was expecting a whole different personality based on the ending of vol. 1) and Katsura being cute and confident! I want more shojos like this one!
We got a summer festival and 2 boyfriends! A reader can dream at least. The romance is very cute but I love their friendships with their best friends. Supportive friends make a cute little shoujo even better. I surprisingly don’t have second ML syndrome here I like him but I am glad he isn’t end game.
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SERIES THE DRAWINGS THE CHARACTERS THE FEELINGS the psychology behind each emotion the introspection they go through the tenderness the awkwardness the human experience of it all i need them in my pocket I want to witness their past present and future again and again
