A New York Times Bestseller! The best-selling Rosemary Wells offers the cure for a childhood fear.
Felix ate too many chocolate blimpies, and he doesn’t feel well. Not even Mama’s dose of sugared prunes helps him feel "perkier". So off to Doctor Duck he must go. "Don’t be afraid, my little moonbeam", says Mama. But Felix is afraid. Best-selling author and illustrator Rosemary Wells applies her rare ability to tell a funny, heartfelt story about a common childhood going to the doctor. Comforting and friendly, Doctor Duck—whom readers first met in HERE COMES MOTHER GOOSE—takes a star turn in FELIX FEELS BETTER, and Wells’s inimitable artwork will delight small children and reassure even the most reluctant young patient.

Rosemary Wells is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She often uses animal characters to address real human issues. Some of her most well-known characters are Max & Ruby and Timothy from Timothy Goes To School (both were later adapted into Canadian-animated preschool television series, the former’s airing on Nickelodeon (part of the Nick Jr. block) and the latter’s as part of PBS Kids on PBS).
Very cute. Felix eats too much chocolate and goes to bed too late and the next day does not feel well. His mother tries several cures, but finally takes him to the doctor. My favorite part is when she bundles him up and takes him outside and puts him on his motorcycle to get some fresh air. But she doesn't hear Felix make any motorcycle noises so she knows something is not right! Wow, does Rosemay Wells know kids, or what? They end up going to Dr. Duck which seems like it might be a little scary... but it isn't.
My three-year-old asks me to read this one again and again.
This is the charming story of a little boy who gets sick and has to visit the doctor. It was great reading it right before John's yearly check up. The doctor in this book is not scary at all, though he takes Felix's temperature, listens to him breathe and gives him medicine. Since it is by Rosemary Wells the pictures are adorable, but I especially like one of Felix looking "peaky" at the breakfast table. John asked for this book again and again.
John's favorite part: the motercycle that Felix rides when his mom thinks that outside time will help him feel better.
Waits loves Dr. Duck, in part because he reminds him of his own sweet and gentle Doctor Blair. He's fascinated by the pictures of Dr. Duck listening to Felix's heartbeat and checking his ears. This is the best children's book I've seen about being sick and going to the doctor. Comforting to the max.
We like Rosemary Wells, so I gave this one a try. Natalie really liked it, but we liked it much more after reading Felix's other book many times. Natalie was annoyed with us for laughing at Flix when he was sick, which was very sweet, but Mike and I couldn't help it when we saw the look in his face in the morning.
A very sweet story. It could be used to alleviate fear of going to the doctor. Also good for cause and effect of eating too much candy and feeling sick. Jude likes how Felix jumps on his bed once he feels better.
Who doesn't love Rosemary Well's animal illustrations? In this book little Felix is not feeling well and after trying all sorts of remedies, mama realizes a visit to the doctor may be necessary.
Once again, a child in a Rosemary Wells book is rewarded for his poor behavior due to lack of parental care when needed. Then he gets dosed up for, basically, no good reason.
