Ratna's Refurb is a day in the life of a mechanic, repairing and refittng an android. Samart's Sweetheart is a short story of devotion between a man and his beloved doll.

This book is an unflinching look at the ways people might treat their women-shaped possessions, and as such touches on darker themes of misogyny, masculinity, and consent. The robot girls are cute, but the stories are not. They are intended for mature audiences. Features obedient androids, sex in an office, voyeurism, manipulation, lesbian, mechabare, modular, and powered-down somno.

Content warning for explicit sexual content and intentionally murky notions of consent

This is by far the most challenging novella I read in 2024. Titmouse does zero hand-holding when it comes to the themes around autonomy, agency, loneliness, connection, and the responsibility humanity has towards the technology they developed and in their position. There is an eerie closeness in the prose from protagonist to protagonist, and the vignettes leave room for the reader to make their own consideration around how much is owed to the robots themselves. The illustrations are fantastic as always, but the bright colors and cheery faces add a necessary layer of horror to this science fiction.

I will be spinning it around my head for quite some time.

My favorite from titmouse! Definitely could be called psychological horror, and nsfw. A perfect mix of scary and erotica, imo. I love seeing themes like this explored in fiction, the way titmouse went about it is so interesting!

Really loved this! Really surprising to see such a confident work of erotic horror(?) from somebody who mainly seems to write more overtly pornographic stuff (I don’t mean that derisively). All of these robot girls act as mirrors to their male owners strange hang ups around sex.
