Things are going well in Izzy's life. He loves his job decorating homes for the holiday season, he just bought his first house, and his best friend Leo is his ride or die. But what he really wants is a Daddy. Specifically, Leo's straight dad. After falling down a very unexpected rabbit hole on the internet, Izzy learns about an event being held by the Lactin Brotherhood in his town. He might not meet a Daddy there, but a boy can dream. Joe is creeping up on fifty and it feels like he's hit a wall. He hasn't dated anyone seriously since he got divorced years ago. He's got a good job, but as a police officer he's ageing out fast and his lactation problem seems to be getting worse and worse. His son is the biggest bright spot in his life, but at the age of twenty-six, Leo doesn't need his father anymore. Joe misses having someone to care for who actually wants his smothering type of love. When Joe and Izzy get snowed in together, Izzy finds himself with an eager Daddy who isn't as straight as he once thought he was and all the milk and cuddles he ever wanted. Can they navigate Joe's changes together or will it be too much for the new Daddy to handle too soon.
Awakening His Daddy is part of The Lactin Brotherhood series written by your favorite M/M authors. This first TLB book by Christine Aster is a low-angst, sweet and steamy story featuring a guy looking at his best friend's dad with more than friendly intentions, an older Daddy, minimal age regression, a bi-awakening, forced proximity and a guaranteed happy ever after.
There is some mention of past child abuse and neglect.
There are some parts of this that I absolutely loved! The caretaking when Izzy got hurt and the christmas theme. 🥰
BUT. There were a lot of moments where Joe told Izzy to stop with his come ons and Izzy continued to be suggestive and throwing himself at Joe. Which like, Joe did keep giving him signals that he was interested even tho he kept saying he was straight, wasn't his Daddy.. but then kept kissing his forward and calling him baby. 🙄 ugh, those parts were equal parts uncomfortable and annoying.
But apparently i'm so down bad for caretaking that i'll wade through anything for more of it. 😂
Joe touching Izzy under the blanket while sharing the living room with his son and his son's partner was so weird😵💫 and it's made even weirder when it's acknowledged and talked about the son doing the same thing with his partner, ewww. 😭
But I did really enjoy the softness and cute moments soooo i'll give this a 3. 😂

Izzy’s life is full of sparkle—he decorates homes for the holidays, just bought his first house, and has his best friend Leo by his side. But what he really wants is a Daddy… specifically, Leo’s straight-laced, brooding father, Joe. Joe, a nearly fifty-year-old police officer, feels like life is passing him by. Divorced, lonely, and dealing with a secret lactation issue, he longs for someone to care for—someone who actually wants his intense, nurturing love. When a snowstorm traps Izzy and Joe together, sparks fly and boundaries blur. Joe isn’t as straight as he thought, and Izzy might finally get the milk-soaked cuddles he’s been dreaming of. But as Joe’s identity shifts and emotions deepen, they’ll have to decide if this unexpected connection can weather the changes ahead.
I enjoyed this story of self-discovery, kink-positive love, and the joy of finding someone who wants you just as you are. I liked that Joe was already doing some of the role of Daddy already - he just didn't know it. A sweet Christmas story although the twist with Leo was a step too far and added a touch of bizarre. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a Daddy/boy dynamic with male lactation.
Izzy and Joe's book is cute, sweet, and spicy. I really liked how Joe clearly cared about Izzy as more than just as his son's friend. I also really liked the progression of their relationship and Joe's acceptance that he's not as straight as he thought. This is a great book and you should definitely read it!
I adored all the guys in here. Izzy is so adorable. Whit is too cute. Love Leo’s sass and Joe surprised me in a good way. Of course I have an extra soft spot for Winter. It was great seeing some old faces too.
I love the different dynamics between Joe, his son Leo and Leo’s best friend Izzy. Enjoy how the situation between Joe and Izzy changes this holiday season, how they handle scary times and secrets, and how they savor the new, sexy and steamy moments!!!
I never really understood the daddy/boy relationship, but this one I like. This is more realistic and more intimate than some of the daddy/boy stories I read (most left unfinished), but this one, I read in one go. Love their dynamics and the caring and all that. Izzy and Joe are for keeps. <3
This was a very short and cute book. I love Izzy and Joe. They were adorable. I do want to see the book if there is a book of Joe son and his partner I do love this book so much and I definitely would read again.
A lovely bi awakening grumpy/sunshine older man/younger man best friends dad daddy/boy romance. Well written with a great storyline, plenty of steam and sweet tender romance I really enjoyed it
3,75 stars Easy to read, entertaining & a bit kinky with a lactating Daddy. Perhaps you need to allow a bit of disbelief but I definitely enjoyed reading this.
I have read all the books TLB series and I feel this was by far one of the best well thought out storylines yet! I can’t wait to read more by this Author!
