When the word no is not an option...

Had Delia known that the cold, blustery shore she’d convinced the other captive women to try to reach was Helfallow, home of the Orcs, she might have made a different choice. But it was far too late for that now. They’d all survived, just as she’d promised they would. It remained to be seen if that was a good thing or not. Being auctioned off to the highest bidder cast a shadow over any chance of things turning out well for them, having traded one forced servitude for another. But Delia still stood strong, the face of courage as each of the women was carried off by the huge, primitive savages that bartered for them. She even made the effort to speak of the traits of each individual woman as the Orcs considered which would best serve their needs, doing all she could to make sure the males knew what to expect from them. She remained confident and stoic, until there was no woman left but her. Being older and more mature than the others, she honestly didn’t expect to be of interest to anyone and had no indication of the future that might await her. Until Valka appeared, lazily swinging his battle-axe overhead, taunting the others to try to take her from him. She watched as the other males stepped back, avoiding him, letting her know that he was more dangerous than they, more brutal. In retrospect, maybe she shouldn’t have denied his first demand. Because it seems that now she belongs to Valka, and he most certainly is not used to being told no.

I write Paranormal, SciFi and Fantasy Romance. Why, you may ask? Romance, because who doesn’t love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines - because, well, normal is highly overrated. I’m 55, I have two kids, one 32 and one 12 (yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband, and a menagerie of animals. Literally, too damn many things that eat wandering around our property. I love to cook, and I am a voracious reader, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I am a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I started letting them out into the real world and surprisingly, people have loved them. I am a Self-Published Author, and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that naturally flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please be sure to read the warnings supplied with each of the synopses about my books before you buy them. I've got three series published at this time, Avaleigh's Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - a SciFi, and three more in process. I’m a bit sarcastic, scathing actually, and a smartass to boot, so if I offend you, it is most likely not intentional. But be prepared because it probably won’t be the last time. I’m always glad to hear from readers; those who have followed me from the beginning, and those who have just found my people. So feel free to look me up and say hello, or just follow along; either way, I’m glad to have you.

1.5 ⭐

Unfortunately this book wasn't as good as the first one.
It was very hard getting into it as it was written as if been narrated by someone.

I didn't like the jumping from pov every few sentences.
It made it very confusing to know who was talking.
The plot was not plotting at all. It was just a mess.

I was honestly more interested in one of the secondary couples then the main one. And it was so weird reading about a FMC in her 50/60's
When the orcs said old I imagined that old for them was late 30's early 40's.
Not a women who has gone fully grey.

Such fine reading!
It pleases me that this book features older individuals, they are too often passed by in romance novels. I love Delia, she’s a take charge woman with opinions she’s not reluctant to express. Valka is such a loner. He deliberately sets himself apart from the others - he has his reasons. It doesn’t take long for these two to appreciate each other more and more. I love it! I get such enjoyment from the secondary folks in the story, also. These women couldn’t have ended up in better hands. Fine reading!

4 terrific🌟's for Valka

This is the first I've read in the Orcs of Helfallow series. in this book Delia and several others wake up on a ship bound for who knows where to be sold to the highest bidder. Delia is the oldest among them and tries to keep all the females safe and gives them hope to keep fighting for their survival. A storm hits and all he'll breaks loose and everyone's lives will be changed forever. Valka is the biggest and meanest of the cliff orcs at least he seems to be. He is disgusted by the actions of those others around him that call themselves warriors. They have captured some human females and are bartering to see who can have one. Many don't deserve a female but there is one that catches his eye a fierce older female who protects others is kind to injured animals and has spirit enough to fight back. When her safety is jeopardized he fights to claim her. As Delia and Valka get to know one a other respect grows and budding feelings arise but danger is still to close at hand. Can Valka keep Delia safe so their love can grow? Will Delia recognize that Valka is a honorable male who wants to love her? You need to read and find out! I'm looking forward to reading much re in the series. 💖🔥🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖

Trigger Warning!
Imprisonment, violence some bullying.
I really like these two together!
They're both not afraid to stand up for what's right and she's not afraid to stand up to him and he loves it.
The feelings he had for her transformed him into someone who made you not only smile but laugh out loud.
I also like how age isn't a factor to how they feel about each other.
We also get to see how some of her friends made out a life with the right male.
This series is very enjoyable.

Great story

Sandra has done it again...A very talented author that keeps you reading until the book has ended. A very different Orc story, featuring two, I should say 'mature' individuals, as I don't like being called old either. So very glad to see love bloom between them.

Loved it

I do love a book that's a little different and Ms. Neeley always delivers. Adored this couple. Valka was just awesome and Delia took no nonsense from anyone.

About a Clan, not a Couple

I really liked Valka and Delia. I liked how they came together and how well they complimented one another. They had good chemistry, and overall the story had a nice plot.

Unfortunately, I found this auth to be extremely verbose. They were much too wordy for my tastes, to the point there where were entire pages that only had two sentecnes on them, making it feel long winded and hard to follow. This did mellow out some after the first few chapters, but getting there was rough.

My other major complaint with this was that it was in third person, and did not follow one specific couple, as the blurb suggests. Yes, they were the main focous, but not the only one. We had chapters follow two other characters as they started and completed their relationship as well, and I felt it really took the focous away from who was supposed to be the main characters.

This was ok but definitely not my fave. Valka is super one dimensional and barely speaks (basically just a "you Jane me Tarzan" kind of vibe), there's no romance or connection and it was hard to get into. We get to know Delia a bit and she's presented as a mother figure / opinionated older woman with grey hair. They have sex once, she gets hurt by another rape-y orc who valka deals with and suddenly they're just together and in love?

It didn't flow for me and I wasn't crazy about any of the characters or the random POV jumping and focus on side characters when it's not their book.

Delia and the women with her were kidnapped with the plan being they would be sold. They were being held below in a boat that was about to go under. Fortunately, one of the men on the boat was able to destroy the chains holding them. These huge flying creatures were killing the crew but saving the women by dropping them off on a beach which is where the orcs are living. Now, they each have to be chosen by an orc and to be their mate. Delia is the last female not selected until Valka came and chose her. What has she got herself into? The story does end happily for her and the other women.

A redemption story for Orcs and females

This is the story of Valka, an older orc, that enjoys his solitude. In his village, there were some human females dropped off. This has caused discourse amongst the orcs. Every orc male wants a female and they don’t like females who cry. There is a mature female named Delia that stands up for the females against the orc leader. There is humor and a redemption storyline. Read On!

I love to journey off into the future where we live along with species that we are not sure of. This Orc is like all alpha men , he wants an alpha woman. He finds one that is a perfect match for him. A great story that proves all species can fall in love.

2 stars DNF at 50%

I love that it features older characters. But the writing style really messed everything up for me. Why are you changing POV like every 3 sentences?!?? 😭 I stopped reading this book only for this reason, it really screwed with the flow of the story.

dominant, older hero

I love the way Sandra Neeley weaves her stories. There’s humor, honor and hot steamy s£x. Her main male character is broody, a loner and very honorable. Her female is calm, caring and defensive for her friends. The older pair is unforgettable

Dnf @ 25%

3rd person omniscient dual POV.

Pages and pages of dialogue with nothing but exclamation points. A mmc who sounds like the Cookie Monster. A fmc who speaks as if she’s acting in a Shakespearean dinner theater at an adult day care facility.

This book gave me mesothelioma.
