While Jade Winters has been putting words together since she was a child, it wasn’t until 2010 that she became a serious writer. Today, as a full-time author, she has published four novels in the lesbian fiction genre as well as several short stories. Jade was born and educated in London where she studied journalism for three years at a London University. She is the youngest of 6 children born to a Nigerian father and English mother and blames her love of spicy food on her African heritage. Jade now makes her home in Dorset in the South of England with her partner and furry companions Zorro, Buttons and Zeus.
I complained about book 2 ending feeling a bit rushed, book 3 starts a bit rushed, but what a start, barriers and potential issues! Cleverly, the author sets up a hidden bomb, then we see the main choose that path….. for all I am dissatisfied with the mains not getting any break, as with the other novels in the series I am reading quickly to find out what will happen! Just as I struggled with everyone else being bad, there is a chink in one secondary character. I am more interested in shades than black and white. The characters in these novels do tend to be black and white. I appreciate this shading. I said at the end of the previous novel the ending felt a bit rushed but I expected another in the series. This also feels rushed. The mains are not getting a break, as the reader I’m not getting a break to enjoy everything going well. This means as a reader I am identifying with the mains and how they must feel, so the writer is doing their job. Although this is not a light book, there is something compelling about it. Despite the relentlessness of bad things happening and one main being surrounded by bad people, I am compelled to read on. That compulsion is staying with me and I am really keen to find out what will happen and quite tense with every plot twist. The tension remained top pretty much the last page. There is a romance, but this is not a romantic book. There is jeopardy and this is tautly written. I keep using the words rushed and no one catching a break. I think that sums up the novel. I personally would have preferred one big book or at least 2 and 3 being combined, but you don’t really get big books these days! A 4 for the tension, this is not a cosy romantic read but it is compelling with an eventual happy ending!
First off, if you haven’t read the first two books in the Mayfair Heritage Hotel series, do it! Okay, for those of you who are caught up, just know that Jade Winters knows how to write lovers, but, oh.my.gosh! Does she know how to write villains! “Suite Revenge” is bursting with villainy, determinedly targeting Lauren and Rain’s happily ever after! A dream is coming true when they open their elegant restaurant, Salt and Smoke. Until a fire nearly destroys their dream after opening night. Fire inspectors suspect faulty wiring - these things happen, right? Lauren and Rain arrange for repairs and reopening. Keep calm and carry on, yes? Until more odd “coincidences” begin to occur, disturbing that calmness. Lauren’s sister, Sydney is super supportive and available, helping with the restaurant reopening; helping when Lauren’s son Ben is upset over his parents’ separation. So supportive, as is soon-to-be ex-husband, Jake - he’s always there with a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on. When Eleanor, matriarch of the DeVille family and the Mayfair Heritage Hotel, is threatened by the board, and drama heightens with scandalous headlines, will Sydney and Lauren support their mum? But wait - what about all those “coincidences” - is that what they truly are? Can Lauren and Rain believe someone is sabotaging them? Who? Why? Jade Winters writes engaging, complex, and confounding stories. You know who the villains are, but you’ll stay at the edge of your seat, waiting for Lauren and Rain to figure it all out. Maybe then, a happily ever after? Hmmm … “Suite Revenge” will have you on a roller coaster of emotions and you’ll love every minute! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
I’ve read this entire series, and I say entire loosely because I’m not sure if this is the end of the Mayfair Heritage Hotel series, but I certainly hope it is. I’ve always been intrigued by the storyline, which was really interesting but throughout each of the books, there are a few flaws. First, the two main characters are always having the wool pulled over their eyes and stay oblivious to it for the longest time while the plot begins to unravel. I was super disappointed that in this last book there was a breakup and then a quick make up without really addressing some of the more significant issues. The love scenes are pretty frequent, which was nice I would give a spice level of two sometimes three. I thought if the son Ben was introduced there should’ve been more done to really build a relationship between the main characters and the child that was involved. Just a lot of open ended pieces that left the reader hanging.
Wow what an epic ending, this series is something else if you have ever read Jade winters books she can hands down write about love but she written the villans so perfect making you hate them and cheering louder for her main characters love, I'll admit that this book was a rollercoaster with the hard hitting emotions not many books can make me cry laugh scream it's effortlessly perfection a must-read congratulations
