This took me longer than I expected to read but it was great. Quite factual but a nice enough plot. I enjoy the writing of the old masquerade mills and boons. I found the resolution of the main plot point a bit lacklustre but the characters and the writing made up for it.

Una storia eccellente, ben scritta, ben documentata. Una delle (ormai) poche che mi riconciliano con il genere. Complimenti, davvero, all'autrice (alle autrici?).

Excellent civil war historical romance from Louise Allen. I found both the heroine and hero to be very believable, acting within the constraints of the time. Loved the authentic setting and the wealth of historical detail.
