Curse of the Blood Queen: Book 1 of The Londinium Saga

Rate this book
Centuries after a warrior queen is defeated in battle, Winifred Fox will learn that even Death, itself, cannot stop a mother’s rage.

It’s been two years since Winnie left the safety of her lavish family estate. Between betrayal and heartbreak, London’s lower-class housing in Bethnal Green continues to prove that it’s no place for a young lady in 1871. A string of violent crimes brings a grieving mother to her doorstep, pleading for a séance. Underestimating the power of the woman’s remorse, Winnie accidentally summons the vengeful spirit of an ancient warrior queen. This entity has a score to settle and powerful dark magic that fuels her ruthless path of retribution.

History will repeat itself...unless Winnie can stop it in time.

I picked up this book at a steampunk festival. The premise is really very good and I would like to give a shout out to the author who is obviously an independent.

Was it the best written novel no. It appears to be written at a YA level. and I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a steampunk setting but I did not get that. I believe it's also supposed to be in a Victorian setting but the language was so contemporary that you could have actually put the story in any setting.

But I was vested in the book and I really did want to see what happened at the end and I'm glad I persevered and finished it.

As a queer reader and lover of the victorian era, this read was a gem. Not only is it a great representation of queer romance, the action, and found family aspect of this book just draws you in. And finding out that there is actually pieces of history within blew my mind. I cried, laughed and kicked my feet like a little schoolgirl this whole book, I could recommend this book all day. I am pumped to know book two is coming soon.
