Every five years marks the Mating Celebrations, and they both want no part of it.
Running away from her latest heartbreak, Roxy feels called to the magical Orc territory of Hornsborough. In this charming town, she lets new ventures and hyper-fixations distract from all her insecurities. It works until her bakery owner Orc boss proposes she become his mate.
More than uninterested in that prospect, she breaks out her hiking/camping gear. After all, what better way to flee from your problems than physically?
Halfway up Mount Star Singer, she runs into a bit of a bird problem. A prehistoric bird problem. Sustaining an injury during a particularly nasty storm, a big, muscular Orc snatching her soaked, shivering body is the last thing she expects. Initially refusing his assistance, she's shocked to find he won't take no for an answer after he whisks her away to his mountain cave.
She doesn't know what to do with this gruff Orc who's irritated by her presence one minute, then tending to her wound the next. She's thrown even more off kilter when feelings arose in her soul, and she begins acting a little strangely. The point of this trip was to run away from Orc attentions, and now she's...going feral for one?
You're going to have the best time with this fun, cute, cozy, spicy winter holiday rom-com novella! Get ready to fall in love with Roxy and Ruhk.
This is an orc X human romance, based in winter vibes, forced proximity, she gets injured, he looks after her, they’re isolated together in a cave, lil bit of fated mates too! Smut was 3/5 on the spice scale, and its such a good HEA!
Roxy is our FMC and maybe unpopular opinion? I think she was ADHD coded. Her experiences and the restless vibes she has felt too relatable for a spicy orc romance but I’m here for that rep regardless!
Ruhk.. Damn I need to stop falling for grumpy orc men cause they DON’T EXIST. Doesn‘t stop them being so perfect, the definiton of “if he wanted to, he would” and I loved that.
Running off to climb a mountain because a guy just can't take no for an answer? Managing to get rescued by a really hot orc in a storm? What a premise for a book. I loved this, it was everything I needed to get me through a cold, rainy day. Some romance, some sexy times but also enough plot to keep me interested.
I loved the character of Roxy, I felt a little bit of a kindred spirit there, she tries everything and isn't one to settle on a particular hobby or interest. She just enjoys dabbling, much to the annoyance of many of those around her and the men she's known.
Ruhk was great, grumpy and trying to avoid people by living up a mountain, he definitely would be my spirit animal.
I can't say too much without spoiling the actual story but I'm definitely off to check out more from this author and I really hope we get to visit this world again in the future.
I loved this spicy romantasy! I'm not a huge fan of fantasy, but when I read the blurb, I wanted to read it straight away, as well as wanting to support the author. The story is fun and quirky, and the characters are delightful. The MMC is just drool-worthy, and I kinda want him in my life. I love the lore of the world that Lylah has created. It made me want to live in a place like it, surrounded by peaceful, respectful, (sexy ass), orcs!
Thanks for a great little book Lylah! It made the end of 2024 better 🤎
This short, sweet, and spicy novella is the perfect read for anyone looking for:
🩷Fated mates 💚Orc MMC x Human FMC 🩷ADHD and anxiety rep 💚Wounded hearts healing each other 🩷Spicy scenes (with a lot of tender scenes, too) 💚Splash of humor / banter 🩷Mating ceremony 💚…and so much more!
Honestly, this was one of my favorite reads this year. It was just what I needed. I devoured it. Be sure to check it out!
This was such a sweet and spicy novella! Opposites attract for sure in this one with a grumpy orc and a free spirited human girl. I sped through this book so quick because I needed to see more of their relationship blossom. And blossom it did😉 you could just feel the sexual tension between the two and when that fire ignited.. It Ignited!🥵 loved this book so much!
If you are looking for a short, sweet but spicy novella to bust a slump. This one is it. I read this book in a single day and had the absolute best time. I resonated with the FMC and her love of trying new hobbies and desire to find her place in the world. The MMC was attentive but gruff and their dynamic was adorable. The pacing of the book was well done and for a novella this story had a lot scenes throughout it that really added to the characters development and romance.
If you are a fan of tension and yearning this is the novella for you!
When I say this was absolutely adorable and also made me remember my own love story with my husband. I felt so seen in how the FMC has adhd and went through the same fears I did when it comes to love. Add that it was well written and so flows story wise 🥰🥰🥰🥰
