From a High Mountain is a devotional feast for hungry believers, a balm for the sorrowful, an aid for comforters and caregivers, a verse-by-verse exposition for the Bible student, and a homiletical and pastoral commentary for church leaders—all in one.
Timothy M. Shorey has followed Jesus for over fifty years. He and his wife, Gayline, have enjoyed forty-seven years together, with six children and fourteen grandchildren. Soon after his fortieth year of pastoral ministry, Tim was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, with an uncertain prognosis. Not long thereafter, he also contracted a rare, severe, and, as yet uncured, bone disease.
Now in medically-caused retirement, Tim spends his limited energy delighting in family and friends, writing, composing songs of sadness and joy, and preaching occasionally (from a chair) as God enables. He keeps an expanding Caring Bridge cancer journal, currently with over 1,000 entries and 150,000 visits, and he writes numerous articles for The Gospel Coalition and Gospel-Centered Discipleship. In addition to From a High Mountain, Tim has authored Respect the Reflecting Human Worth in How We Listen and Talk; 30/30 30 Reflections on a 30-Year Headache; A Communion How Holy Communion Addresses Our Unholy Conflicts; An ABC Prayer to Praise for Hearts Both Young and Old; and Worship Worthy: Alliterative Adoration.
