Loving Ladybug, Part Two

Rate this book
My ex doesn’t know when to quit.

It’s not enough that he has a hockey contract and an omega. No, he and his family have decided to go after me because I had the poor judgment to date him.

At least I’ve got Clark and Tenzin–and things are heating up between all three of us. Yeah, I might just keep those two forever. Also, the New York Knights are my family and have my back.

My past is about to catch up to me, but my ex is the one who should be wary. There’s a good reason why I don’t talk to my family much.

I’ve decided that despite my past, despite being just a beta, I deserve good things–friends, a hockey career, and two cute alphas included. And I’m not going to let anyone stop me.

Loving Ladybug, Part Two, is a why choose omegaverse friends to lovers hockey romance and is the second half of a duet. See what happens next with Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin in the conclusion of this m/m/f romance.

Loving Ladybug Part Two picks up right on the coattails of Part One, which was a huge relief given how things were left. There’s a lot of character development for Gwen, Tenzin, and Clark in this one and a lot of instincts they each have to overcome/ignore in order to protect their budding relationship. Everything that needed closure was addressed and there were several very surprising things that happened as well that added to the angst and drama.

Overall, a decent conclusion to Gwen’s story. However, it felt like the pace was borderline glacial at times, which made it really difficult to stay engaged. Not to mention, it was very long where a lot of stuff could’ve been cut as it didn’t feel like it was progressing the plot. I almost DNF’ed this book on several occasions for that reason, but also because some of the writing style/patterns and me just don’t get along. The internal dialogue can be repetitive and even verbal dialogue between characters can be out of order to the point where I can’t follow what someone is responding to because it happens paragraphs and other conversations later. Gwen annoyed me quite often too - she felt immature and borderline petulant at times, which didn’t help.

The HEA was exactly as expected and definitely needed after everything the characters had to go through to get there. The biggest element to this duet is found family, and Jane really excelled at creating characters that would show up for Gwen through thick and thin!

Genre: Adult Omegaverse Romance
Spice: 3/5🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to similar books in the same genre*

The Catalog: MMF, hockey omegaverse, beta FMC, alpha MMCs, friends to lovers, forced proximity, pack in progress, beta in an alpha/omega designation dominated sport, golden retriever MMC, he falls first, hurt/comfort, omegaverse with alternate designations, primal play, pierced 🍆

This is part two of a duet, you must read part one first.

Thoughts:
1. The Greats:
Overall, I really enjoyed Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin’s story. I thought their slow burn love was super cute and I love them for each other. I like that the author wrote their throuple as three separate relationships that exist within a whole, giving each pairing some time to breathe for itself. They had some really fun moments together.

Gwen as a character is really great. I love her spunky attitude and ferocity. She plays hard and loves hard. Her stubbornness is a huge asset and I love that she’s a survivor. Clark is such a perfect golden retriever MMC and I loved how much he supported his partners. Tenzin is still a bit of a mystery, but I’m a fan of his primal side and I’m glad that he worked on his communication.

Book one left a lot of plot unknowns, especially with Tenzin, and I think all of those were answered in this book. Tenzin definitely felt settled with his partners, although I still felt that the emotional connection between Gwen and Clark was stronger. The drama with his former partner and her pack also seemed resolved.

I’m glad to have seen Gwen’s career find a landing place, and the conflict with her ex and his family resolved. She deserved all of the good things for her career, and it was satisfying to see how everything went with her ex’s family. I also felt like Gwen was left in a decent place with her family, despite their many mistakes, and I was left feeling hopeful that those connections would continue to improve. Meeting her dads was a really good moment for me as a reader, and I’m glad Gwen got some closure she needed from them.

I typically don’t gravitate toward omegaverse where the pack doesn’t have an omega, but by the end of this, I was totally obsessed with the dynamic and I love that their pack doesn’t have an omega. Gwen is just so perfect as she is.

2. The Okays:
I’m not sure that Gwen, Tenzin, and Clark’s romance left off in a place that was super satisfying. There were loose ends that I would have liked to see resolution for: 1) Will Gwen ever emerge as an omega? Will bonding affect her hockey skills? 2) How will they make their relationship work for real with Gwen so far away (I wish there’d been an extended epilogue to show them getting a resolution for this), 3) not knowing if they’ll one day have an omega also gives me a little unease / conclusion anxiety (I think I needed either a tease that we’d get that in another book, or a conclusive “no, we’re happy as is” & I honestly think I would be sad to see them add an omega when Gwen has worked so hard to not be affected by being a beta—I want her to be enough)

There is an enormous amount of characters in this series and I genuinely don’t know that I’ll ever keep them completely straight. I did not read the first duet of this series, but I don’t think it would have helped me. It was overwhelming at times, and I think it took away from the main story in this book. I found myself trying to figure out who everyone is, who they belong to, and how they relate to the MCs and their story. I think this made it feel like the romance was secondary when so much space was used on these extra-pack connections. In addition to this, the length of each book is a little intimidating and at times, the story did seem to be dragging.

3. Conclusion
I am glad that I read this duet, especially because book one really captured my attention and I really love this particular interpretation of omegaverse; alternate designations, unique mate bond complications, etc. I think this world is really unique among omegaverse and I applaud the author for how much work they put into everything. Although there were some things that weren’t perfect for me, I will still be recommending to others, as I think there’s a lot to love!

To start, these books are very long. If you don’t like the characters and the world, these books will not work for you. I love these characters and love this world so these books were a pleasure to read. There’s huge found family/chosen vibe in both of Handler’s duets. There are lots of cozy domestic scenes, but every single one felt necessary. I love that everyone in this world is basically bisexual/pan with lots of different pack configurations and it’s not a big deal. That’ just how this universe operates. Handler’s world has some unique features and there’s a thorough author’s note to explain. In Loving Ladybug, the romance part is slow to build. All three characters have had some trauma in their past that they have to work through - and they get professional help to do so. There is so much care and thought put into each character and their backstory. Everyone does their best to communicate and support each other. I loved reading how each couple within the throuple fell in love. This book does not have an Omega - Tenzin and Clark are Alphas, and Gwen is a Beta. In no way did I miss there not being an Omega.

Continuing from part 1 of this duet, EBUG beta Ladybug is still having a tough go of it. After breaking up with twatwaffle Austin, he leaves her high and dry with no place to live and tuition to pay for her last year at NYIT. Too proud to ask her mean dads/family for help, she finds herself secretly living in a closet in the arena while she tries to figure things out. Clark finds out and offers to let her stay in his guest room while he’s away for the summer and she hesitantly accepts. Things get interesting when she finds out that Tens is staying right across the hall from her. Will she and Tens manage to move past their recent breakups to find their way to one another? Will they include Clark?!

Book 2 of this duet comes together nicely as the New York Knights beloved characters from Finding the Forward join again and this time helping to save the day! Twists and unexpected turns kept me reading, unable to put the book down inching my way towards a HEA. Jane Handler’s Omegaverse isn’t one you want to miss and I can’t wait to read what she has in store for us next, I’m hooked!

I mean this book duet honestly hurt me head to read. It’s a good story line but wow was that a lot. First off I’m not really into beta alpha relationships but that’s just my personal opinion. This was markets as an alpha omega romance to me so a little upset about that but the books are wayyyyy longer than they need to be. Way too many character and way too many side stories. You legit threw everything and the kitchen sink into these tropes. Motorcycle, omegaverse, mafia, hockey romance, dark romance. Like what was happening through this whole book? I have no clue still. Again it was a good idea but the writing wasn’t great, lots of errors in grammar and spelling too. Moral of the review is just way to long, way to confusing, way too many characters. Kind of felt like an ai generated book honestly.

Spicy scene were great tho.

This was marginally better than the first book...
i will say, I really loved the subplot of having the dead shadowed mate bond, that was wisps of being there, but not really being there. I enjoyed how that played out with her health.
But it was ruined then the administrator commented that she's not in omega. like that plot point is PLAYED.OUR drop it, we got it. There's no reason for that to be constantly brought up, especially when you're not going to secret omega her

Like how many times was leanne gonna be smug, and not be corrected??? push over vibes?

Every single person in this girl's life failed her. except for dimitri.

her brother matty was a BITCH... Like his voice softening when he finds out that luke ruined and canceled her scholarship?? no, he should have been enraged. He should've reacted righ away then apologized profusely for not following up for not doing more. This woman suffered immensely by everyone's hands around her.

I mean, i'm glad that clark and tenz seem to get it together but serious fail after fail.

And if I read alpha, happy juice one more time. I'm going to scream. What is with the obsession with that cringy, ass line.

feed you sausage wtf 🤮

And yes, we got conclusion, we got resolution, we got people apologizing for treating her horribly, and that's great.

However, I couldn't deal with the lack of a secret omega when it was harped on so unbelievably, much. and yeah, I get it. The author made her not want to be an omega, but that doesn't change how much everybody else harped on it, and she felt broken by the fact that she wasn't normal.

I do like how she and clark took to the babies and we're really supportive.

Her sister being packed with her stalker's family. and while I understand the resolution between her sister that hates her was being there, cut off from the family, I don't feel like anybody reacted enough before her sister's mate, dogging her in front of everybody.

And then tens ex and her pack picking at her like I get that we're joking, but they aren't friends. That's not okay
ooh, the the scene where tens goes to visit when morgan had the babies MADE ME RAGE. they cheated, they lied, they deceived, and then they I've had the audacity to be disrespectful to him. Because he chose himself???????

I get it naturally people suck.I just feel like everybody sucked in this book.

I think at this point there was just so much that bothered me that this book became my bitch eating crackers.

I truly loved reading all about Ladybug’s romance with Clark and Tenzin and all about her journey of coming into herself and owning her power. Like with the first two books in this series, this story has so much found family and I was so ecstatic to see how interconnected everyone is. I love the Knights and the Maimers so much and I truly never want to stop reading these characters and their world!

I do think this duet was a bit darker and more emotional than Verity’s duet. Gwen is stubborn as a mule which could be a bit frustrating but she’s also the kindest soul ever with the biggest heart to those she cares about. Clark is the most endearing and selfless and loving sunshine alpha who happens to also have the added benefit of being a hot nerd. His safe word is “Defenders Assemble” 😂 need I say more? Tenzin is the strength and pillar both Clark and Gwen need who shows up for the people he loves. While I don’t love the way things turned out with certain things with his ex (iykyk) and I personally would have preferred he didn’t have to go through certain things already with what he’s trying to move on from, this does sometimes happen in real life so it is what it is. I don’t want to give spoilers so apologies for being vague lol

Gwen is the center of their pack and she fills in all those spaces in their souls. Her story made me cry many times. She really went through way too much. And I’m so proud of her! I do wish there were harsher punishments for those who hurt her, and punishments at all for those who were supposed to love and protect her but chose harm instead.

I also do feel unsatisfied with the ending personally because I felt things were a bit too open-ended for me. I still have way too many questions and things I feel I need to know about their futures. I’m keeping the 5-star rating because I personally love a long book that gives all the details in their day-to-day life as well as different settings and conversations and outings with friends and family. However, I did feel that with as long as both books are, I shouldn’t have as many questions as I do by the end. I feel like there almost needs to be a third book for Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin’s story/almost-pack. Please give us a novella or something! I need more than an extended epilogue (unless it’s really long!) 🥺

With all of that said though, I still fully love this duet and its characters and would recommend to anyone who loves reading why-choose and/or omegaverse. ❤️

I read as an ARC but it did not affect my honest review.

Love shall prevail

In "Loving Ladybug," Jane Handler brings readers a thrilling and passionate glimpse into the world of professional hockey, seen through the eyes of Gwen, an Ebug with dreams of becoming a goalie in the PHL. The novel artfully blends the intensity of competitive sports with a rich emotional landscape, making it a compelling read for fans of romance and Omegaverse tropes.

Gwen’s journey is not just about fulfilling her aspirations; it is also a tale of growth, heartbreak, and resilience. Reeling from the emotional aftermath of her Alphahole ex-boyfriend, who used her for his own gain before casting her aside, Gwen grapples with her past family drama while navigating the complexities of relationships. The story smartly weaves a friends-to-lovers narrative that grips you from the start, and the “why choose” dynamic adds another layer of intrigue and excitement to Gwen’s romantic pursuits.

At its core, "Loving Ladybug" tackles themes of self-worth, healing from past traumas, and the power of friendship. Handler does an excellent job illustrating Gwen’s struggle between her dreams and her emotional scars, prompting readers to reflect on the importance of pursuing one’s passions despite setbacks.

The characters in "Loving Ladybug" are vividly drawn and relatable. Gwen is a strong and determined protagonist, embodying both vulnerability and strength. Her complex emotional journey is backed by a colorful cast that supports her growth, adding depth to the story. Jane's nuanced portrayal allows readers to connect with each character on a personal level, making their motivations and decisions feel authentic.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics between the characters and the heartfelt moments scattered throughout the book. The pacing is well-balanced, maintaining a sense of urgency while allowing for character development. Jane Handler’s writing is compelling, with plenty of poignant moments that tug at the heartstrings, making it difficult to put the book down.

I highly recommend "Loving Ladybug" to anyone who enjoys a captivating blend of sports, romance, and emotional storytelling. Handler’s unique take on the Omegaverse and her ability to create engaging characters will resonate with both romance aficionados and newcomers to the genre. Whether you’re in it for the hockey or the heartfelt relationships, this book delivers a satisfying experience that will leave you longing for more.

** Thank you to the author for the ARC**

“Loving Ladybug: part two” brings to a close the story of Gwen, Tenz and Clark. This second part focuses a lot more on Tenz and Clark relationship and more on Gwen’s past. While there is a hint that the fathers have not been kind to her, this second part explores their opinion on Gwen’s life.

The book starts right after the events of the previous book, with Tenz having to take on a lot. While his feelings are a lot more assertive in this book, Tenz gets to have a lot on his plate. The birth of the twins, the events from the previous book and how he will combine his life between cities it’s a lot. I loved that this book is more about Tenz and Clark. Clark was more dominant with Gwen because he knew she liked it, but with Tenz, he let go that side and their chemistry is great. I really enjoyed Clark as a character, he was cute, protective and he tried to bond Tenz to their group but also was there emotionally and physically for Gwen.

This second book, however, demanded a lot of me. It was too long (650 pages) I feel like fewer 200 pages would have been nice because there were a few chapters that did not do a lot either for plot or character building. I enjoyed the chapters with Clark and Tenz a lot. Their romance was really cute, but I feel like Gwen’s story holds up a lot of space. I would have preferred fewer smut scenes, but longer. My favourite thing from “Finding the forward” was the smut and here it was all very cold sometimes. I did not feel that with Clark and Tenz, but some scenes with Gwen were just too quick. Also, there was no heat, no rut, as a omegaverse fan I felt like everything was too tame.

This is the best book if you want to dive into an omegaverse world without it being too much, but also with the spice. As a person who enjoys weird sh!t, I would have loved to see some rut scenes! If you want someone to enter the scene but still want spice without the whole thing being too overwhelming “Loving Ladybug” series is perfect for that. It displays a lot of emotions, conflict and smut, so if you want an omegaverse book with hockey setting where the main focus is the plot, this is the book for you.

Even though the book demanded a lot from me, I still want to read the next books, especially since we know who the next pair is and I am really looking forward to it.

This was a great continuation of Ladybug’s story and a great conclusion to their pack story. Just like I felt for part one, I thought that this whole story was something special and unique. Having two alphas and a beta is not the typical pack in an omegaverse and I always love being able to read something different in an omegaverse. I also love this series because of the FMC. She’s tough and just kind of awesome. Even though she’s an EBUG, she is a female beta, playing professional hockey. This book did a great job of picking up where book one left off. It picks up right where book one’s cliffhanger ended and gives more about each of the main characters. We get to see more of what makes each of them who they are and their history. I love the found family aspect that this book gives us and how its not just the pack there for Ladybug, but also the team. This book is on the longer side, but it packs a lot in it and has such wonderful characters.

I loved that we got to see more in depth of the characters we got to know and love in the first book. In this book we got to see their relationships with each other build stronger and tighter. We get to see more of the ups and downs in their lives and the traumas that they have had to survive to get where they are. Gwen is the lynchpin of the pack. She’s strong and such a fighter. Tenzin is the tough but super loyal alpha that has had to go through so much, but he is there for his pack. And I love Clark, my nerdy golden retriever. These three create the perfect pack for each other and make this such an enjoyable story to read.

This book is long and can take a little bit to read. But as someone that has read so many omegaverses, I just love what this one has to offer. This book definitely has its share of spice, not only with Ladybug, but the guys with each other as well. This was a great followup duet to Finding the Forward and this book did a good job of giving us an ending to this pack’s story. This is an excellent duet in its totality and this book did a great job of holding its own. It’s definitely worth the read.

I loved how the story is picked up and concluded. I felt so many emotions reading this book — anger and sadness for Gwen, but also happiness and joy. I really loved how Gwen reconnects with her family. I’m so glad her dads and some of her brothers proved they would always be there for her no matter what. With Clark and Tenzin by her side, Gwen discovers that it doesn’t matter whether she’s a beta or omega —she’s just as deserving of love, loyalty, and a future filled with happiness and fulfillment. The support of those who care for her helps her realize that her worth isn’t defined by labels, but by who she truly is. The ending feels so satisfying, wrapping up all the loose ends and delivering a happily-ever-after that really feels earned.

Writing/Plot: The pace really picks up in this part, bringing more tension, emotional confrontations, and some seriously satisfying moments. The writing is smooth and engaging, balancing introspection with action in a way that keeps you fully immersed. The plot delivers both the romance and the justice we’ve been waiting for.
Characters: Gwen learns to embrace her vulnerabilities, finding strength in the connections she forms with Tenzin and Clark. Tenzin, begins to let down his walls, showing sides of himself that are both tender and fierce. Clark realizes that his warmth isn’t just about comforting others, but also about embracing his own vulnerability.
Relationships: The romance and spice fully bloom in this part. What started as a slow burn becomes a true bond, not just emotionally, but physically and practically. I loved how he relationship between Clark and Tenzin strengthens. They choose each other, over and over again, and it’s beautiful to witness. Their dynamic feels honest and loving, with small communication issues, mutual admiration, and passion that never overshadows their deep emotional connection.
Worldbuilding: The way the dynamic explores political and family power, identity, and societal expectations is done brilliantly. The hockey backdrop still provides a great setting for moments of friendship, tension, frustration and success.

Loving Ladybug Part

A great ending to Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin’s story. Another winner in my book. Not quite as spicy as I would have liked, but the plot was chef’s kiss. I loved seeing the shadow part of Gwen explained and woven through the books. I don’t think I have read very many Omegaverse books where a mate is lost. I laughed, cried, and cheered for these guys so much. The cliffy at the end of book one was exactly who we thought it would be. I felt like they needed to have harsher consequences for their actions, but like the world we live in, those with money never get the book thrown at them. The cheesy sayings throughout the book were some of my favorites ever. And the found family was so heartwarming. I can’t wait to see what happens in the future for not only this couple but the Knights' universe

Book Blurb:
My ex doesn’t know when to quit.

It’s not enough that he has a hockey contract and an omega. No, he and his family have decided to go after me because I had the poor judgment to date him.

At least I’ve got Clark and Tenzin–and things are heating up between all three of us. Yeah, I might just keep those two forever. Also, the New York Knights are my family and have my back.

More than donuts.

A fun, emotional, and spicy YA/MMF read with a unique twist on the omegaverse—and finally, some great MM dynamics!

This second book in the duet picks up right after a cliffhanger and delivers everything:
- drama
- secrets
- misunderstandings
- sports
- laughter (it's seriously funny!)
- love—lots and lots of love
- and a touch of BDSM
While it’s a sweet read overall, it also explores some darker themes.

Set in the Hokeyverse—with the best elements of the omegaverse—the author has crafted a unique, engaging world. It's a powerful and meaningful story, filled with humor, heart, and plenty of snack times, yumminess's, and sandwiches.

The main characters face a path full of twists and obstacles—plenty of "knotwaffles" along the way—but they keep going. They’re not alone, after all; they’ve got an amazing support squad of friends and family by their side.

Gwen is such a special character—someone who follows her own path, even though she sees herself as broken. But really, she’s just different. She’s sweet, strong, and full of kindness, determination, and heart. She knows the best revenge is to thrive.
Tenzin and Clark are just as special—the “Daddy” and the “Brat.” Their personalities are very different, but they complement each other perfectly. Gwen loves that her boyfriends are also boyfriends, and she’s the glue that holds their trio together.
They might be a little messy, but they’re absolutely wonderful.

It ends in a HEA—a Hockily Ever After—Take them home and keep them forever :).

The author built such a fun, layered world that by the end, I was happy for our main trio—but also wishing for more stories about them and the intriguing side characters who popped up along the way.

The second part starts at the cliffhanger we read in part 1, which is good because I needed to know what happened with Gwen and Clark. I’m glad nothing to bad happened.

I liked that we got to see Tenzin and Clark’s relationship move to romantic. I loved the dynamic between both guys. I think it helps that they started out as friends first, I love all three as a unit. 💜

Poor Gwen went through soo much in both books, like she needs a break but I love how strong she is to have faced everything with stride. I’m glad she finally got her HEA with Tenzin & Clark.

I did have some hang ups with though….
I didn’t really like how Tenzin handled finding out that Morgan was pregnant, I felt like he could’ve communicated way better with Gwen & Clark.
Also I felt like Gwen dragged being upset with her family especially after finding out everything they did to help her or get her forgiveness. Yes I know that the dads were wrong but they tried to talk to her multiple times and she kept ignoring the situation. Made her seem a bit immature during those moments but I’m happy to see that in the end she was able to move forward with her family.

Overall really enjoyed the duet and would definitely recommend!!

‼️Potential spoiler ‼️

Also I was a bit disappointed to see that we didn’t get any scene of them mating. I was really looking forward to this especially after everything Gwen went through in the first book.
Although it was a HEA I wanted more insight into their relationship like getting married, life living together and seeing all three as parents. Hopefully we get these scenes in the future 🙏🏽

3.5- 4 stars. This is a more HFN, it ends nicely but there was missing aspects to make it HEA, however that is more my personal preference/desire, for them the book ending is just life continuing and doesn't wrap up, however we may see it in the next lot of books as side characters.

I wanted to love Loving ladybug part two, I enjoyed part one immensely but part two I struggled to stay in the book in some parts. Certain topics come up but with little conclusions and there are some insufferable side characters that make life more difficult. Tenzin ex/friends angry at him then joking with him then angry again just made me angry for Tenzin. Gwens sisters get no punishment for what they did to Gwen, it was pretty ignored by the family (just not come for Christmas?), the dads behavior and the team firing/not firing happening was frustrating. Not sure what happened with the potential omega-ness, it may happen but didn't get addressed again once Gwen made it to a team. The kidnapping seemed over quick and overall went without much impact.

I guess i was just left wanting more of just the trio but not the drama. Not going to lie, i kinda wanted Cooter to join the pack., it would have been a cute thing and would complete the pack but the openness that they all have for the future leaves a maybe. Would have loved to read about the trios bonding.

I did have some laughs and the continuation of Lucky and Cooters wife was funny. The teams rallying around Gwen in her time of need highlights how amazing found families can be.

Part 2 of Loving Ladybug picks up exactly where Part 1 left us hanging! That cliffy was rough and I, for one, am so happy to find out how Gwen, Tens and Clark lived their happily ever after. In fact, I need MORE!!

Gwen is one of my all-time favorite FMCs. She is hilarious, smart, driven, motivated, athletic, brave and sexy all at the same time. I love all of the colors of her hair, her skating outfits, and her banter! Yes, Gwen says the most outrageous lines ever!

Tens is a huge alpha with an equally huge heart. He is built to protect, defend, nurture and adore his mates. I love this big Yeti!!

And Clark!! He is so much fun and he wears his heart on his sleeve. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to make Gwen happy. And when he wears his glasses, I simply swoon.

The sexual tension between the guys is delicious. As Gwen says, "I do love that my boyfriends are boyfriends" (can you say, yummy?)!!

This book has some of the best lines ever:

-Are you shi***ing my d*ck right now? Those fu@#*ing knotwaffles. They need to be bricked down with sh*t d*cks

-I know you say we'll work it out and the a$$holes won't win. But sometimes all the sh*t dicks in the world don't brick the f*&knuggets down

-D*ck me dead and bury me pregnant

-F*#kballs. His family is going to sh*t racoons.

-My body shuddered in delight at his dirty talk. D*ck me down, boy, d*ck me down

-Eat a bag of d*cks. I don't give a flying f*#k what you think

Absolutely grab this book (and of course Part 1), read them and thank me later!!

This duet had to end eventually but, honestly, I loved this so much that I didn’t want it to end and I wanted to read more about Gwen, Tenzin, and Clark.

This part picks up right after the events of Part 1 and it’s filled with so much more history and trauma. BUT it’s balanced out with happiness and just pure determination. Gwen goes through so much but she never really lets it get in the way of her happiness and her dreams with the boys. Tenzin and Clark are so supportive of each other and of Gwen. Their relationship developing in this part just warmed my heart. They fully blossomed together and we see them really work through previous trauma and present struggles together as a throuple and as individuals.

With everything going wrong for Gwen, Tenzin and Clark are so emotionally mature and are lowkey just the gold standard. Seeing their relationship develop more outside of Gwen was so sweet and it added more depth to them and the entire relationship as a whole. I loved any moment with the two of them.

This part of the duet was THICC but there was so much that felt necessary to get to the happy ending. We got to see this progression of Tenzin taking his role as a ded seriously, Gwen fight through the shitshow caused by the Deloittes – the brothers will forever be the Toilette Trio to me– and Clark being the supportive bean that he is wanting to be the best he can be.

I love this universe so much and it makes me sad every time I finish each duet.

This is the conclusion of the duet and it picks right up where the cliffhanger in part 1 left us! Be prepared to spend time in this story because she is a thicccc girl. The theme of this book is found family and Jane definitely delivers that but it takes time to be flushed out and fully developed.

I don’t wanna give too much away but there is a lot of character growth between the throuple. I especially enjoyed watching Clark and Tenzin’s relationship bloom into something romantic.

Gwen is such a strong FMc and I appreciate how she fights for what she wants and her alphas. It’s enduring. I love some of the lighter moments with her and Macy.

I did have some issues with the story considering just how long the book is .
(1) I struggled with how Tenzin handled finding out that Morgan was pregnant, and how he communicated with Gwen and Clark about it.

(2) I feel like Gwen was upset for far too long with her family. Even when presented with facts and explanations about the whys it felts like she was being stubborn to be stubborn. It felt like she was so immature considering everything.

(3) I was little dissatisfied with the ending. It is a HEA but I feel like it was unfinished or unpolished. There isn’t an epilogue to help tie up some of things you wanna see in a story like this.

Overall really enjoyed this story and the entire duet and would definitely recommend it to any omegaverse reader!

Loved it (more than donuts)

When we left off in Part 1, I was unwell. That cliffhanger? Criminal. I was two seconds away from sending Jane a wellness check. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long and she delivered the proof of life (and then some).

This HEA? Hard-freaking-earned. These three didn’t just fight for love—they brawled for it. Everyone brought their emotional A-game.

Clark? Total golden retriever energy. Zero drama, all sunshine. His family? Supportive angels. His vibe? Hugs in human form.

Tens had more on his plate than a Thanksgiving buffet and didn’t exactly communicate like a pro, but he learned quick. He’s loyal, protective, and so deeply invested in Clark and Gwen that you honestly can't NOT fall in love with him.. Watching his bond with Clark grow? Chef’s kiss.

Gwen? GIRL. Her life is a whole Zamboni fire. All she wants is to play hockey in peace and everyone keeps jumping in her way. Justice for Gwen was needed! I do think the family drama dragged on a bit and could’ve been trimmed (especially since the resolution was like… mildly lukewarm tea), but I digress.

The dialogue? Screaming. Gwen and Mercy curse like poets, and I love them for it. Speaking of, I am (im)patiently waiting for Mercy’s books because we all know they’re going to be completely unhinged in the best way.

Loved the crossover vibes from Finding the Forward and the way every character formed a human wall of support around Gwen. She’s worth loving. Worth saving. And they made sure she knew it.

And don’t think I missed the Dimitri setup. That man's arc is brewing like strong coffee and I need it immediately.

Thank you, Jane, for the ARC! You continue to slay. Can’t wait to see what emotional chaos you serve up next. 💥

Ladybugs Ending

We're back with the conclusion to Ladybugs' story. This picks up off of that mean cliffhanger she left us with from book 1. To say I was invested in not only Gwen but Clark and Tenzin as well and where their journey was going to take them. Are they going to be able to help heal each other and move forward? What happens when all secrets are laid bare? What happens when the full force of the pasts collide with their delicate presents and future?

I love Gwen. She is fierce, stubborn, and a force to be reckoned with, but she is also shy, sweet, and completely loveable with deep, insecure moments. Clark is our golden retriever boy who will absolutely do anything for Gwen and Tenzin, no matter the cost. Tenzin, ugh, he was my favorite. I loved his character and how he pulled himself from heartache and into love times two. These three are amazing together.

Now this is book two of Gwen's story but it's also book four in the HockeyVerse world by Jane Handler. The first two books are about Verity and her pack so while you don't necessarily need to read them first, you do meet Ladybug there first and in Ladybugs story you get to see Verity and her pack throughout it.

I don’t want to risk any spoilers so I’m going to keep it pretty vague here.

There are some wonderful parts in this second part of Ladybug’s story. I love Gwen and the terrific family of friends she has around her. We have lots of revelations in this conclusion and some great moments of action and healing. I loved watching the people rally around Gwen in so many ways to support her. There was one scene in particular (in the car, iykyk) that I was dying of laughter at the meeting of Gwen’s worlds. I had to tell my hubby what I was laughing so hard at and he had this confused look on his face as I tried to explain who everyone was and why everything was so funny.

Gwen is such a charming main character. She is quirky, loveable, gives everything her all, and sacrifices so much for the people around her. She deserves the world. It is so easy to root for her and want to destroy her enemies. Also, she has the funniest ‘Gwen-isms’.

I have to say, I cannot wait for Dimitri’s story! His fierce devotion to the people he loves is a recipe for a great story!

This is a long book. Be prepared for the long haul before you settle in. If you are in the market for a long romance this is a great pick.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. My opinions are my own. Thank you!

Back with Gwen and her Alphas, this sequel picks up right after the gripping cliffhanger of book one, and it does not disappoint.

Gwen is an incredibly well-developed character whose kindness shines through in every aspect of her life. Whether she’s rescuing lizards from danger or showing compassion to those around her, her empathy truly sets her apart. However, her journey has been anything but easy; she has faced numerous challenges that would break most people, and yet she continues to persevere.

This book is a fantastic read—meticulously crafted and brimming with all the essential elements of an outstanding omegaverse. It's a compelling mix of heart-wrenching angst, unexpected twists, and laugh-out-loud moments, such as the humorous line, "Heal me with your Alpha juice."

And be prepared to grab some tissues because this story will tug at your heartstrings and bring on the tears.

I have to say, Dimitri has stolen my heart and is by far my favorite character in this series. His charm and complexity are utterly captivating, and I can't help but hope that he will get his own book in the future.

OV perfection.

(Can that be my entire review?)

Gwen is a traumatized, badass goalie who has surrounded herself with the world's best found family. Part Two concludes her story with her Alphas, Clark and Tenzin. Thankfully, Tenzin pulled his head out of his ass in this book.

Part Two starts immediately where Part One left us in a gut-clenching cliffhanger. I was not going to be okay. Of course, I should have trusted Jane's process. Then 500 other things happened. All of them were satisfyingly angsty and twisty. Our baby pack is exactly what you'd want from a fully involved throuple. However, in this world it takes four to make a pack. So where is number four? Are we going to revisit these characters in another book? Dmitri needs a book asap, and Carlos, both of whom she mentions in her afterword. But what about Constantine. I am invested in this slightly mysterious man and his poisonous lizard!!

One thing you should know going into these books is that Jane does not write a quick little day read. These books are over 600 pages each! They are THICK! So it's a damn good thing they're so juicy!!

The perfect ending for Gwen, Tens, and Clark!!

It's a rollercoaster of an ending and there is a lot happening with all the MCs. From corny jokes and puns to emotional dedications of love I was all over the place reading this book!

All of the MCs make some major character growth in this book and through trying times they come together as a pack should for one another. The relationships are far from perfect, but they are raw and real and that's why they're so great.

I love that we finally got more Clark and Tens time! I was waiting for it in book 1 and we finally got some!

I still don't like Gwen's family. Okay, I don't hate them anymore, but I still don't love them, you know what I mean?

Their ending was perfect for their story and where they end up. I hope we get more shorts about them in the future!

Once again the side characters help carry the book!! I love seeing the pack from FTF and everyone else from Ladybug 1 they're one giant family I love it so much!

I can't wait to see what Jane is cooking up for us next!!

A lengthy part 2 to Loving Ladybug by Jane Handler, but in saying that a lot of Gwen's story needed to be told to understand what had happened to her in the early years with her family.
The Capaldi family held many secrets that Gwen was not privvy to and these secrets revealed themselves in book 2.
As Gwen found her "home" with Clarke and Tenzin, having their love and support through the highs and lows that she had to endure was heart warming. The heat sizzled on the pages as they got to know each other more intimately, as both Tenzin and Clark found love in each other as they also found their love for Gwen.
From fighting to come out on top of her ex's trauma to her and to the lengths to what his family was prepared to do to ruin her career, Gwen and her guys stayed steadfast!
Certainly a rollercoaster ride of emotions as secrets are revealed as Gwen faces her past.
A fitting end to her story as her Alpha's claim what is theirs.
I loved the ending and yes please, more of Gwen Tenzin and Clark would be fantastic!!

Protective, Proud, and Love are some of the perfect words to describe Clark, Tenzin, and Gwen’s relationship. Right from the start, you can instantly feel and see those emotions and descriptors of their relationship come to life. But Jane Handler did it again. This book was not only perfect in the amount of detail within it, but she also managed to keep it interesting. All of the plot twists, even if they were minor, added up to the book that was created. It was an amazing book.

When it came to the nicknames, though, for this book! It was adorable, and each has a story behind it. Whether it was the nickname bucket or just the nickname of ladybug, each in its a way had their own meaning and story behind its nickname. I loved this interconnected series with Finding the Forward. It was not only a great way for another sequel to the original books, but also to know another perspective of their lives in hockey. But, just be sure to read part 1 first. It will give you all of the necessary context to then read part two. This was love!

ARC Review

After the cliffhanger in part one, I was on the edge of my seat waiting for Loving Ladybug, Part Two! I couldn't wait to find out if Gwen and Clark were okay, and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint.

The entire crew faces a whirlwind of challenges, but their bond as a pack is inspiring. I loved seeing them support each other through thick and thin. Meeting baby Asher was a delightful surprise, and Tenzin shines as a dad—he’s just perfect!

From start to finish, I adored the story. Jane Handler’s writing is incredibly engaging and easy to read; I could vividly picture the scenes playing out in my mind. The chemistry between Gwen, Clark, and Tenzin intensifies beautifully, making their relationships feel authentic and heartfelt.

This conclusion of the duet left me satisfied yet yearning for more stories in this universe. If you love a compelling omegaverse friends-to-lovers hockey romance, you won’t want to miss this one! I can’t wait to see what Jane Handler has in store for us next!

Go! Ladybug Go!

This book was an utter delight.
I had so much fun reading the rest of the most adorable throuple story ever.
Gwen, Tenzin and Clarke are pack goals. Clarke had been Mr. Gwen from the beginning. He's been all in 100% and that's what makes him such a great book boyfriend. It may not seem like it but it's the small, quiet moments that may go unnoticed, like private visits to museums or rent free housing that describes Clarke's values and priorities.
Once Tenzin got his head together it turns out that he's the Atlas of our hearts. He holds everything together in that big steady quiet way of his even with babies and animals and stress and pressure and life or death situations, Tenzin has Yeti mountain strength.
Gwen and the siblings and the Dad's finally had some hard conversations and are rebuilding which was maybe the hardest parts for me to read.
Dimitri, Carlos, Cooter and Lenny are the real MVP's and I cannot wait for their stories too.
Jane Handler has fast become a must read author for me and I'm obsessed with this world she's built.
